hey all, I just moved from SF to DC, and I'm looking for an artist on the east coast to design a chest piece I've had in mind for a while. I thought this forum might be good for suggestions. I have several tattoos already, all black and grey, so I'm looking for someone who excels in B/G style. Mostly with heavy black ink. I'm looking for someone who is good at creepy/scary tattoos that are a mix of american traditional and russian prison styles. Not really looking for anything in the "horror" genre, but more like medieval occult-ish/satanist type stuff. One of my favorite artists is Alexander Grim (@alexandergrim on IG), but he is in St. Petersburg. In fact, most of my favorite artists are in Europe or Russia, like Andrey Kichatiy (@kichatiy on IG) in Moscow, or Barbe Rousse (@barbe_rousse_tattooer) in Berlin, or Cezilia Hjelt (@cezilia_gbgclassictattooing) in Gothenburg Sweden. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

Seeing those awesome Bert Grimm pictures in recent posts reminds me of this traditional design which is originally credited to an unknown artist ca.1900. The combatants are said to be locked in "mortal combat " How do u like yours done?Do you favour the more chinese ,crazy looking traditional dragon a la Jerry Collins.Or are you partial to a more Japanese version ? Even the animals are subject to change -who do you like to see in the mix ?

For me I see a picture of a tattoo or a tattooer doing a tattoo of a certain image and sometimes they just stick with me. I almost get obsessed in looking at variations of that one image and love seeing peoples takes on them. So lately I have been looking at, watching, and searching for ship or boat tattoos. I tend to enjoy ones that stick close to traditional tattoos but enjoy many of the variations. So here are some recent ones that I have been enjoying and wishing the quality of the pictures for some were better so I could really gaze at them. Lets see your ship or boat tattoos and/or those that you enjoy looking at as well.... I'm Joe...new here, I was on another forum but there's not so much traffic there...seeing what Last Sparrow has to offer. I am 25 male from New Jersey (just outside of NYC) into American traditional tattooing. Some of my favorite artists who have tattooed me are, Todd Noble, Krooked Ken, Beau Brady, Jedd Hill, and Javier Rodriguez just to name a few. I am currently a chef at a banquet hall. And on the side I like to skate, brew my own beer, and just hang loose.

I dont want to have to keep looking at other artists flash, i want to be able to look at something at know what key points i could use that would help me give it a more traditional look rather than realistic.. thanks guys, Happy New Years!

I love this fucker! Great design and have been actually for some time now day dreaming about how good it would look as a backpiece. I have associated it to anarchism and the likes. Heres some history. Gadsden flag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Gadsden Flag: Don't Tread on Me I couldnt find any good tattoos pics. There was a great flash in the Brooklyn Joe Lieber flash book. The pic was in someones myspace, who ever sold it. Cant find it. Post pics, any pics!

I'm wanting to have an artist here finish up my entire leg with some Traditional pieces that tie together. Just wondering if it would be better to get em all done or at least placed and the ideas set at once or just get some here and there over time. It's a question for the artist really but I've still got a couple of months before its even possible so I thought id get the opinions of you swell folks

For a minute it seemed like a lot of people were into realistic black and gray portraits. Then I started seeing a bunch of realistic color portraits of Mel Gibson, The Joker and Jack Black and other movie stars. Now I see a lot of people doing what I would consider traditional tattoo portraits which I am really starting to dig. What is everyone's take on the portrait? I attached an example of the traditional portrait I was referring to.

I understand that the meanings of tattoos can and often do change over time so I am curious to hear about what you know and/or have heard about tattoo meanings? I will start off with some common tattoos I see and hear similiar stories: Dragon tattoos? Nautical Star tattoos? Sparrow tattoos? Dagger tattoos? Butterfly tattoos? Dove tattoos? Anchor tattoos? Man's Ruin tattoos? Dice tattoos? Eightball tattoos? Do you have one of these tattoo designs? Tells us about it and what it means and post a pic!
