Ian from Castro Tattoo, SF, CA, here. I'm the manager of this fine establishment, and just wanted to take a moment to introduce the shop. I think our mission statement sums it up pretty nicely: At Castro Tattoo, we strive to bring all clients a clean, fun and relaxing environment for your next tattoo or piercing. Owner Hannah Wolf has tattooed all over the United States and the world; won multiple awards, been published in books and magazines and aspires to bring that experience to local and visiting clients. Castro tattoo has served the neighborhood for over 14 years; providing a unique quality in the heart of the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco. We have many talented artists on staff, ready to help conceptualize your next tattoo or piercing vision. Our artists range in all styles, bringing diversity and excellence every day. We have a full service piercing studio, offering only the highest quality jewelry. At Castro tattoo we check our egos at the door and let the quality of our work speak for itself. So yeah, come on in and say 'hi'! I'm the scruffy guy at the front! -Ian @ Castro Tattoo Tattoo By Owner Hannah Wolf

Maybe I missed it tried searching here and on the Internet with nothing. What are the dates of this convention I would guess it would be in October maybe 19-21 2012? I just realized I am slated for vacation at this time so I am very interested in knowing.

I have booked the flight and I am currently booking appointments with the artists who I want to get tattooed by in the bay area. So, is there anything I should try to see or do while visiting? I know there are many SF residents on this board, so I'm hoping you guys can give me some tips. I'm visiting the third week of September by the way.

For several years now I've been fine-tuning an idea for a shoulder/quarter sleeve piece, but I just can't afford it right now and I don't think something that big is great for a first tattoo. So I came up with a much simpler design. I'm thinking I'll put it on my left forearm: As my best friend was quick to point out everyone's going to think I'm a huge Motörhead fan, and though the ace of spades is inspired by a different song, there are worse ways to misinterpret a tattoo, right? I'm not sure where I'll go to get it done yet, though.

As some of you know I visited San Francisco recently to get tattooed by Scott Sylvia, Tim Lehi and Grime. If you haven't seen it already you can check out my travelblog here: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/blogs/iwar/232-oslo-san-francisco-travel-blog.html My Scott Sylvia piece is as good as healed now, so I thought I'd start by sharing that one. The rest will be posted here as soon as they are healed and I get decent pictures. All I have to take photos with is my iPhone, so please excuse the mediocre quality.

I am a tattooer visiting San Fransisco September2-7. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions of bookstores or any other sites tattoo and art related that i should visit. Of course the tattoo museum, MOMA, and the arboretum are on my list. I know there's gotta be some bookstores in China Town and Little Tokyo that have some great reference books. I am particularly interested in aquiring Japanese mythology and art instructional books. I was also curious of the etiquette about dropping in on some of the better shops in town. Any help would be appreciated.

So Chad and I were talking and one of our common interests are fine dining establishments. We joked that the first LST meetup will be at Tyler Florence's new restaurant, Wayfare Tavern....they have a room with a pool table...could you imagine 20 or so heavily tattoed diners converging on the restaurant...tyler would FREAK! Chad mentioned some of the places he is hitting up soon... so i thought I would start a thread for other gourmands....what are some of your favorite places to go. we hit up spruce alot in san francisco. mainly because it is a quick commute for us and parking is a breeze. the service is also impeccable and i LOVE the beignets. the apps and salads are better than their entrees, but i heard the burger there is amazing. we haven't gone out alot in the last 2-3 years because we keep on popping out babies, but i really want to hit morimoto's new place soon... what are your favorite restaurants and places you want to go.

I am sitting here trying to figure out the best way to arrange a trip to SF later this year (hopefully) solely to get tattooed. It's just that while visiting I want to make the most of it and hopefully get tattooed by a few artists during my stay. What concerns me is that probably most of the artists that I would like to get tattooed by have long waiting lists. If I'm going to pull through financially I have to book a fairly reasonable flight a few months in advance, and maybe stay for a week or so. So, to the artists here; How do you prefer to make arrangements with clients travelling from abroad to get tattooed by you? I'm assuming that you require a deposit, but do you usually find room in your schedule if you're approached by travelling clients with a few months notice, or do they just have to get on the waitinglist and get the date they're given like everyone else? I guess this is a very broad question that probably varies from artist to artist. I'm just having kind of a hard time figuring how to go about planning a trip like this. Any enthusiasts here have any input and/or experience on travelling somewhere to get tattooed by several artists in the same area? I'm a newbie when it comes to this so any tips/pointers/help is greatly appreciated!

(AP) -- Lincoln police said a woman tried to slice a tattoo of her name off her boyfriend's neck. Capt. Anthony Butler told the Lincoln Journal Star that the 19-year-old woman and her 30-year-old boyfriend had gotten into a dispute around 6:40 p.m. on Friday. That's when she tried to cut off the tattoo. Butler said the boyfriend suffered only minor injuries, mostly scratches. I know most of you are well aware of Mr. C.W. Eldridge's importance as tattooer/historian/historical figure himself, but just wanted to toss up a quick little link to his Tattoo Archive home page which is a phenomenal resource. Just ordered a couple new things from here as well as from Book Mistress. It's so important that histories are preserved but I feel privileged to be allowed access to what will one day be called sacred texts and secret histories..if they're not already. As I'm not a tattooer, it feels extra tough to be taken seriously when it comes to anything tattoo-related –– as it should be –– so I'm just glad Mr. Eldridge doesn't discriminate when it comes to both preserving as well as educating. Also a great quick online reference. Thank you sir. One day I'll get down to NC.

Going to the NLCS! Wow. It has taken me 8 years to get over the depression related to the 2002 World Series. But the Giants are ready to make a comeback. Game 4 of the NLDS was torture. Wait, lemme rephrase that. The entire SERIES was torture. The anxiety from game 4 was so high that I was unable to sleep, just thinking of the upcoming series vs. The Phillies. Game 1 on Saturday promises to be one of few hits, even less runs, and more torture and anxiety. It's Halliday vs. Lincecum aka The Freak. One just pitched a no hitter and the other a 2 hitter. Talk about stellar pitching. What we can definitely count on are beards running amuck (Fear the Beard). And if you think Brian Wilson is a nut, just watch this interview of him on Jim Rome (go Gauchos!) is Burning. http://www.burnmonkeyburn.com/2010/09/giants-brian-wilson-on-jim-rome-is.html The Sucka Free is about to show Philly how we roll! Go Giants!!!

I know my tattoo friends like to eat so why don't we set em up with some places they may like to meet for eats... I always appreciate a good meal recommended by a local whe I'm on the road... I mist recommend pulcinella's in little Italy. Their food blew my mind. And they seemed under-frequented. Some group of hungry bearded tattoo dudes need to go rack up a bill there and fill their tummies with the best pizza outside of Naples... Anyway, wish I was there to meet up with all you guys for great after work eats!
