Got this done when I was 18 and it's been a battle of it bugging me every day due to it's flaws. It was touched up when I got the inside done, but poseidons anatomy is off in certain places and some of the old purple was hard to rework, so it's obvious to me anyway. Would lasering it even help since its not exactly faded and got some heavy black? Or should I just get more well-done tattoos to distract the fact and just chalk it up to lesson learned?

I wanna get lasered on this tattoo but I wonder if it will be worth it? Its super dark. Would it even go away completely or at all? Should I just fade for a cover up?

Hey All, So I am asking this question in advance, as I still have 1 inner arm peony to go - otherwise my 3/4 sleeve is finished with the background and coloring. It is of a japanese kirin with it's face on my lower arm and legs up towards my shoulder. I love the colors and everything in the sleeve except for a top vertical leg that sticks up. I'm starting to think it is out of place and points at me oddly. It's also not drawn as geometrically as the other 3 legs but I dismissed this at the stencil stage and did not tell the artist. Is it worth lasering this leg so that the artist can redraw it? Even though I have one peony left, i think I can more or less see how the sleeve tattoo will look like? I am a bit bummed I am feeling this way, but has anyone else been in my position? Have you gone for a large tattoo or sleeve, overlooked something in the stencil then sought laser down the track to redraw it? Should laser only be reserved for worst case scenarios?

Hey guys so I jumped the gun and really wanted to start my half sleeve. i wanted to add things to make it look more full and Well a year later I want to change some things about it but I can't think of anything that could cover the certain area up. Im happy with the main piece but under the Skelton where the sword, buckle, and bag just doesn't do it for me and want it to be changed asap. If you have any suggestions please let me know i really appreciate it!

Hello, I'm obviously new here, & I've heard a lot of great things about this forum so I figured I'd give it a shot. My main reason for joining is because I am in desperate need of advice for a cover-up of the tat I got when I turned 18. As you can see it's fantastic. On top of it being a bright green square its also slightly crooked (The way I'm standing trying to take the pic myself makes it look a lot worse) I've got a rib cage piece of black & grey roses and a compass, so I'd like to stay away from more roses. Ideally i'd like to use as little color as possible as well, but I'm open to whatever needs to be done to save me from the "Yea I think your tractor's sexy" comments every time I go to the beach. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi everyone, I'm in need of advice regarding a potential cover up. I got a tattoo on my wrist 5/6 years ago and I don't like it at all so I was wanting to get it covered - I just need advice on what my options are (if any). It was a rushed decision to start with (I was young!) but now all I see on my wrist is a dark, smudgy blob! I originally wanted a rose, but the tattoo artist told me to choose a different flower out of his book - I know I should have walked out right then. Would a rose still be possible? I am also wanting a tattoo on my opposite forearm, but with this on my wrist I don't feel like anything will 'go' with this at the moment as it's just not feminine to me. Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks

So I bought a tattoo gun in my early teens and soon started to "practice" on myself. I kept the "practice" on my upper thighs so no one could see even when I wore shorts. But now it has just turned into a mess. I fully understand that it wasn't a great idea in the first place. But, it is what it is now and I need some advice. What could be done to sort of blend this all together. Would it be better to get one huge coverup? I don't really care if it looks "awesome". No one sees it but my wife and myself. It does bother me that none of it flows together. So any ideas? http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11352&stc=1&d=1411194964 http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11353&stc=1&d=1411194964 http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11354&stc=1&d=1411194964 http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11355&stc=1&d=1411194964 - - - Updated - - - The color that you see was recently done in an attempt to bring it all together. the pictures were taken right after being tattooed.

Hello, I am 26 years old and I reside in the state of Utah. I have a few tattoos, one of which I am looking to get covered up. I am new to the forum. The tattoo in question is a 1/3 sleeve (almost a half sleeve, it starts about an inch and a half above my elbow. It is completely filled in (there is basically no skin showing, besides the inside of by bicep) It is of a graveyard that I got done when I turned 18, hasty to get a new tattoo by a bad ass dude. I have another tattoo by the same guy which I love, just over the years, I have started to hate the graveyard. It has a lot of black lines (trees, gravestones, fence, grass) some lighter green for the grass, some brown in the trees, grey for the headstones, and red/dark purple for the sky. I have already heard the whole "you should just learn to live with it and deal with it" spiel and I disagree. The cover up I want isn't the most traditional, I guess. I have gotten really into "blackwork" and "dotwork", and I would really like to completely black out the half sleeve. My question is: Would it look like shit if I just went and got the tattoo completely blacked out over the top of it? Would it look completely obvious that it was a cover up, or would it just not look as solid and it would had I just gotten an all black half sleeve to begin with? Thanks, this is probably an amateur question, but no one I know has been able to give me a clear answer. thewaydown

I've been looking at a lot of tattoo cover-up pictures recently and figured it'd be cool to see what cover-ups LSTers have both gotten as well as tattooed. So if you have before and after pictures please post them up. Here's a recent one I found on Sarah Schor's Blog from King's Avenue in New York. I really like the use of the hair in this lady head to cover-up the old tattoo lettering. For me I enjoy seeing cover-ups that could stand on their own without being a cover-up. What I mean is yes the old tattoo is not visible but had you not had to have it placed where it is you would get in anywhere and anyways. Lets see 'em.......

Hello Last Sparrow members! I'm an 18 year old high school senior (for 45 more days...) considering getting a subtle, simple line tattoo of a dove flying away from a cage (for both emotional and spiritual reasons). I'm not completely sure that I will yet for a few reasons, some of which I was hoping this forum could help me with. The first is that I am fairly straight-laced. I've been in choirs most of my life, high academic achiever, etc. While I recognize that having a tattoo does not change that fact, I can't help but worry that it might lead people to stereotype me and treat me differently. For the most part I care very little about what people think of me *once they've gotten to know me* (I tend to be somewhat blunt and outspoken, and if they don't like me for that, that's fine) however I don't want to be prevented from developing relationships with people simply because they hold different ideas about tattoos and the people who get them than I do and misjudge me off the bat as a result. This is especially a concern as i'll be going to college soon, and will be making first impressions left and right. I also don't want to be limited in my career options. My tentitive plan for the future is to work for an organization like World Vision or some similar charity group that really helps empower poor communities to break the cycle of poverty. I would hate to be passed over and lose he opportunity to help others simply because my self-expression gave the wrong impression, especially in faith-driven organizations. (While I do not see the Bible as condemning tattoos, I respect others' right to that opinion, just as I wish them to respect mine.) Any advice and/or experience with this? Perhaps where I can place the tattoo where I can see it (since it's more for me than others, and I'd like to be able to see it easily) but where it can easily be covered up or just not very visible to others? I considered getting it in white ink, but since that seems to be something most artists are inexperienced with and can't guarentee, I've decided against it. Is there a particular color ink that is more subtle? Light gray, perhaps? The last qualm I have is that, being so straight-laced, I have no friends with tattoo experience, and, therefore, no idea where I should go or what I should ask if/when i were to get this tattoo. Granted, it'd be a simple enough design, but since tattoos are so permenent, I don't want to risk allergy/infection/generally crappy artwork. Any advice for an ignorant and nervous first-timer?

so i went through a really dark patch a few months ago, and in a state of unmatched disregard i got a tattoo on my shoulder of my dog with a heart and flowers around it. very cutesie, and though beautifully done it is not my style at all and i've come to really hate it i'd like to remove the dog (fortunately it's black) and, if possible put in it's place an eagle or something. really anything. two questions: 1) this tattoo was done by Eli Quinters at smith street, who i deeply respect as both a tattooer and as a super nice person. should i tell him that i would like to remove / replace the dog in the heart? should i give him the opportunity to operate on his own work? or should i take the job elsewhere. i do intend to get more work from him in the future..perhaps i could just not show him that arm 2) what do you think is possible as far as a coverup / re-working? again, i only intend to remove the dog. i think that attempting a full cover-up / removal would be a bit ambitious. thanks all.

Here is some pics of the cover-up I just had done. I don't have a pic of the finished tattoo I will get one taken when my wife gets back. Before Almost done Almost done back view The whole photo set on Flickr I am so glad to have this cover-up done. I didn't care about the spider I got it when I was 16 and was quite used to it... kind of liked it to be honest. I will get another small spider again one day. The dragonflies on the other hand... I REALLY hated them. I went into a street shop one day looking for a band of lizards (which would have still sucked) and ended up with this because I was in a hurry, stupid and did not know any better. To be honest it turned me from tattoo for years. I went in for some script on my wrist and started talking to a real tattooer that I got brave again. The tattoo is done my Alicia E from Trouble Bound Studios in Newfoundland. The reason for a dragon? Well my whole mindset on life changed when I became a dad. I suddenly knew my role had changed to protecter and that is what a dragon is to me. OK enough typing, did I mention I tend to ramble?

Hi there! I joined this forum to ask for help from some creative minds. Ive got this "Heroes" tattoo when I was sixteen, and I have now grown tired of it and I would like to cover it up with another tattoo.. Problem is that I`m not any good at drawing, and I do not have any friends who are especially creative. So I have to look for help from you guys :) I love animals and I resently become fond of tribal looking animal-tattoos. I also like cartoonlike tattoos; like super mario, pokemon ect. Last but not least I love double meanings and drawings (tattoos) that are hard to understand. Can anyone help me? :)

Hi Folks, I got this tattoo (first of 3) when I was 19. It looked different when I got it as I had a lot more muscle mass which was replaced by fat :) at another point; notice the loose skin and stretch marks to the right. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a cover up. I recognize it will only look so good given the condition of my arm in general (but what do you do? Exercise? pft :) Anywho, if anyone one has any suggestions I would appreciate it! Thanks, Dude

This was a cover up tattoo. What was underneath was much much worse than this. It was very colorful so there werent that many options to cover it up. We decided to do a Hannya mask. I know it´s not a good tattoo but how bad is it really in your opinion? I am planning on making it a full sleeve so that there is more color in the front and I am planning on adding more tattoos so that this isn't always the main focus. Please be brutally honest.

Thanks

Hey guys, new to the forum, was hoping to get some advice on what I can do with this half sleeve. I'd like to cover up or at the very least rework a large portion, but I'm not entirely sure whats possible. There is a lot of colour in it, so would I need to keep to large black and grey designs, or would I need to cover over with an intricate colourful design? Unfortunately moved away from my usual artist so still have to find a good artist locally to talk to. Any help appreciated! Cheers

I would like to know what is the best way to find a good cover-up tattoo Artist? Can every tattoo artist do a cover-up? Do all Artist like to do cover-ups? I'm having a real hard time finding one that has cover-up experience, i have found a few that say they are experts, but after looking at their work i get the feeling that the reason why they are the only ones that do it is because no one else in the shop wants to do it. Their work is not very impressive! So what do you look for on an Artist that does cover-ups? If there is any Artist out there in California that can fix/re-work or cover what i have please contact me.
