how bout something like this. Im not sure about the water lily. It is kind of hard to get it to fit.

Thanks for the info str8. Luckily most of the work I do is managing construction projects and the majority of the people I deal with aren't very uptight. It's just a big step I've got to ponder.

I'm an engineer (Civil) and notice that visible tattoos are a little more common. I'm really wanting a pin up on my forearm, but i am still debating whether i should or not. I can always cover with long sleeves and in the small city i work, i don't think it would be a big deal. My worry is if i ever wanted to work for a big corporation it might hinder my opportunities.

@daveborjes thanks i like the idea. Maybe something similar because i also like the idea of the birth flowers that @HettyKetty mentioned and i think i could pass that off as having more "meaning". ill see what i can put together first before i need your paypal account ;) Mom: Daffodil Son1: Sweet Pea Son2: Water Lilly

@smiling.politely i tend to agree with most of what you posted. I lost my mother to a 10 year battle with cancer and i had thought about getting a cancer ribbon. Instead i spent some time thinking about it and ended up with a tattoo including many of her favorite things (flowers, colors, a dragon, etc). As far as getting something like baseball bats or toys; i dont think that would fly. Mainly because they are 9 and 5 and could change so much. My 9 year old plays baseball, but he may change and become a musician etc over the next 8 to 9 years and the baseball bat or glove wouldn't fit. Im digging the flower idea that was posted above, just got to work it out and think of how to use it.

Was thinking of a koi or koi dragon or even a lotus.

that would be awesome huh? Mommy and Son panthers. Sweet! I passed the sparrow/banner idea and the butterfly idea. She was not a fan of either. May have to try the flower idea.

i agree and i will see what i can do tonight. Im really liking the sparrow and banner idea.

it was a google image search. :-) Im not sure she wants that exact one, she just mentioned something like it. I'm just looking for ideas to present to her that might be a bit different than the tribal look.

Help me! My wife is wanting to get the attached or something similar on her rib area. I know that it doesnt matter what i think but i dont like the idea. Ive been searching our galleries here but i just keep finding Mom heart images. Does anybody have any other ideas as a representation of a Mom and her son or sons? thanks,

Changed the plan once I got in there and we started discussing. Went with a red/orange/yellow dragon with purple accents. The flowers and words are pink. I'm going to wait to see how it heals but I think I want the flowers and words a darker pink or maybe fusia. Other than that I think it's going to heal up nicely and am very happy. I will post up some better pictures when the swelling goes down and it gets healed up.

Go into tomorrow at 12:30 to get it finished. Super stoked. Going with teal dragon with purple highlights. Flowers will be pink magnolias. Dragon similar colors to the attached.

Ive wanted an NC State Slobbering Wolf for a while but was always worried it would be a little gimmicky. But one similar to the one posted by Daryl Rodriguez would be awesome.

very cool. I didnt want to come off as some dumbass asking about his work. thanks

Update...water is pretty much healed up. Still a little tissue papery. One more session to finish dragon and flowers. Then I'm thinking either my mom's initials or a Japanese water lantern on the inner bicep to finish it off. I know, nobody likes lettering. See below for updated pictures.

Quick question...I am a beginner here and am only getting ready for my third session on a half sleeve. I've actually enjoyed the looks and compliments. Anyways...I was in Walmart yesterday and was waiting in line in front of a very well dressed man in expensive slacks and button up shirt. He had his sleeves slightly rolled up and I noticed tattoos all the way to his wrists. I was really trying not to stare and that leads me to my question...how rude is it to ask someone about their tattoos? How do you go about it?

Advice on what colors for this tattoo?

B&G with red highlights -
Thanks. I just had the water done on Saturday. It's looking pretty brutal right now, but once it heals, I post up another picture.

Thanks pidjones. We are going to work on the letters next session. That's the problem, I don't know what colors I want for the dragon. Maybe red with the accents in green and the flames in orange/yellow. Or I've even seen an awesome one that was purple. I'm just not sure how to pair the colors of the dragon with the lettering color and the little accents on the dragon like the whiskers and hair.

hoping to avoid the bashing and actually get some helpful advice here. I have been working on this tattoo for over 2 years now. I started piecing together ideas etc shortly after my mom died. About 6 weeks ago i finally had nuts and money to get started. The magnolias, ribbon, words, and dragon are from my sketch. Of course i am not all that great of an artist so i used a template for the actual dragon head. I met with my artist and he reworked my sketch (mostly changing the ribbon up so it flowed better around the flowers and transitioned better to the dragon). My first sitting was just the outline of my sketch. My second sitting was to add the water, stones, and shading. (I chose water as it is my mother's element)Other than that i gave the artist free reign with the water and stones. The picture i have attached is shortly after my second sitting. My third sitting was Saturday and we got all of the water completed and colored with blue, light blue, and white. It looks great but i didn't get a picture and now its in the healing process so it looks rough. i am looking for some insight into the colors I should use for the remainder. The ribbon needs to be some shade of pink as it represents my mother’s fight with breast cancer. How would it look to transition the pink ribbon to a red dragon? Or should i change it up and do an all red ribbon and dragon and use pink for the words? or?? I wouldn't even mind to do the dragon and ribbon in all pink or something, but then what color do i do the words? The flowers are magnolias so they will need to be white/pink/light blue highlights. Thanks for any help. Please don't post here to bash the work. I am very pleased with the work so far. As you can tell, it is also a cover up. I had my initials done about 15 years ago. they are behind and below the "Faith" - - - Updated - - - i have actually figured some things out and forgot to include them in that last post. I have decided that i would like the dragon and ribbon to be all one color. I just think trying to transition it will not look right. I would love to do the magnolias in pink and white. I'm just not sure what to do with the dragon and the words.
