I for one, didn't see it coming. It was an "Oh sheeeeit" moment.
  5. Technically my first tattoo was at 17, in the woods behind a Burger King, with some chick that liked me. We were wasted and she got this bright idea that she could tattoo me with a needle and a bottle of Testors ink. She poked a tiny cross into my forearm. It didn't last very long, i think about a year before it completely faded. Me being a dumbass didn't help any, i thought if you picked the scab off it would help it last longer. The scar lasted longer than the ink. :p Took over 20 years till i went and got a real one:
  6. This 'zombie' movie didn't get a lot of publicity, so it might have fallen through the cracks for some of you, but give it a whirl on Netflix: Pontypool.

  9. I'm pretty much in the same boat, but it does kinda suck in the summer when i look at the short sleeves shirts in the closet, sigh, and pick out a longer sleeved one.

  11. As a "new" customer, i actually did some research into not only tattooing (styles, care, artists) but etiquette as well. I didn't want to walk into a place and say "I want this!" without any knowledge of whether it could be done well, it suited the artists preferences and talents, how the process worked, etc. I think that's how you should handle anything involving forking over a big wad of cash for an item or service, especially one that will be on yourself permanently. So, i think it's incumbent upon the 'buyer' to learn a bit ahead of time. Combine this with a polite, helpful 'seller' (who is forgiving of stupid questions from someone who earnestly wants to learn :) ) and ya can't go wrong, imo.
  12. When my dad first found out (my moms passed away) he said "I'm not surprised, just that it took you so long, since you did about everything else i wouldn't want you to do when you were young". I didn't get my first tat until i was well into adulthood. Then he said "Eh, what am i worrying about, you're over 40 and doing well, you don't need me telling you anything anymore".

    Greetings

I've always been into ancient Egyptian history and myths, i'm hoping one day to go there, and maybe even on a dig. I'm also a pet lover, and have given a home to over a dozen strays through my adult life. Soooooo..... i found a way to combine the two into pic #2: After much research, i went down to NYA, and consulted with Damian Ross. He was super nice, and he explained what would work best on the area i wanted it on. He drew it up, we made a couple of adjustments, and put pic #1 on my arm (pic taken a week after it was done): I'm super happy with it. For my next, i'm sticking with the Egyptian theme, and am trying to incorporate a couple of things into a scene, but i haven't decided whether i want my back or a quarter sleeve on my other arm. The first tat has life symbology on it, so the second will hopefully have death and rebirth. The focus will either be an Anubis figure or a phoenix figure. I'm taking my time with it, so it could be a bit before i'm ready to talk to them, but i'd certainly go back to Damian, based on my initial experience.

    Greetings

Hi from Queens NY. I'm 44 and just got my first tat this past December. Could never figure out until recently what i wanted on me forever, but now i'm working on my second. Thanks to NY Adorned for their guidance and work on my ink, and their direction to here. :)
