  1. I like to have a big meal and smoke a joint beforehand... then another big meal and another joint after. I can't handle caffeine during or before, it makes me too aware of the process.
  2. I told my mom within a couple days of getting my first, she likes them, but always urges me to think about it alot before getting any more. She doesn't want me to get anything that I'll regret. My dad is super conservative; he still sees tattoos as part of counterculture and looks down on them as a whole. He's told me since I was a little kid that he'd never pay for college if I got any tattoos. I pierced my ear when I was 16 and promptly had to sit through a four hour lecture (and wasn't allowed to keep the piercing, obviously). The first time he saw the tattoos on my thighs was when I came home drunk and fell asleep on the couch in my boxers and he woke me up. I think he's more in denial than anything, he only brings it up when he wants to guilt trip me about something. Oh - and he hasn't stopped paying for college. go figure.
  3. Talk about dedication to a fault. I've always been of a mindset that extremism in anything has the possibility to turn negative.
  4. some of the solid black i've gotten has gotten that spotty look for a couple days after it stops scabbing. It went away completely pretty soon.

    Hey everyone

Hey guys, My name is Kurt, I'm a 21 y/o Pennsylvanian. I'm relatively new to tattoos - four so far - with another in the works soon. I'm a big fan of blackwork, and though none of my current tattoos are done in traditional blackwork style, they're all solid black. Decided to look around for a forum where I could bounce some ideas off people because very few of my close friends have any tattoos, and those that do only have one. The first forum I clicked on required a membership fee (really?) but from looking around here I'm glad this is where I ended up. looking forward to asking some questions and reading up around the forums. Cheers, Kurt - - - Updated - - - here are some pictures of the work i have done already. the chakette (12-pointed star) is for my fraternity and is on my right ribcage; the "expect us" and guy fawkes are for anonymous; I take alot of interest in the journalistic/freedom of information side of anon. it's on my left bicep; the triforce is on my left thigh; the "defend thy brother" is for myself and my only whole brother, he's the same with the initials flipped when he turns 18. it's on my right thigh and was my first tattoo
