  1. more or less how i see it is that if you can draw it, you can tattoo it. i realize that's not 100% applicable, but it makes sense in my mind. as long as you have a good artist, there's no reason you won't be able to make that work. so get what you love. i think there's no reason to feel stuck because you're worried it won't work. i have no doubt there's someone out there who can make it happen. also, some shameless non-rose personal shares. my most recent and unfinished floral piece. jatropha and clerodendrums:
  2. maybe it's the communities that i find myself in that give me the experiences that i do. i've definitely noticed a difference in the initial reaction people give me, particularly in the school/art community that i'm a part of when they realize that i'm fairly well covered in tattoos. but after the initial shock, people's judgements generally seem to remain the same as they were before. i have people approach me a lot about my work and get compliments which generally don't bother me. most of the negative attention i've gotten has come from different generations, especially some of my professors. any disrespect in that forum has been easily dealt with when i've made my personal opinions known about their choice to pass judgement openly. i detest the idea that someone can assume you're a type of person because of your choice in body modification, but we all know it happens. there's been quite a few times where i've been ogled and i've stared back until i make eye contact. i've noticed it's either brought them forward to comment, and generally the comment is positive, or they try to pretend they didn't get caught (this goes for men and women). i've noticed i attract a lot more guys with tattoos than i do without. i've never reaaalllyyyy had a preference, even though i think it's a nice idea to be able to share an interest in something that we all know is quite permanent. overall i think i've been quite lucky. the stigmas that most people have to deal with have been few, far between and not very memorable for me.
  3. hello! i'm mara from philly by ways of syracuse, ny. i grew up seeing a few family members get tattooed and started myself when i was 18. i love collecting different work and seeing what other people choose for themselves. currently i'm a full-time student studying metalworking and art history and i run a cafe on weekends. i'm super busy so i can't say i consistently partake in the hobbies i love but generally spending any free time i have with my friends is enough to keep me happy. nice to meet you. i look forward to seeing what you all share :).
