  1. @Isotope I love the AMS rig! As a lifetime "accelerist", it is right up my alley! Oh, yeah, the harpoon and roses are obviously monster good too!
  2. Hairstyles and clothing styles change as do our preferences. Same with music, and you can always turn it off. I guess that is why tattoo style is so important to many people on here. Still, you can find just as much (or more) disagreement, solid entrenchment, and overall discourse on a forum about motorcycle paint jobs. People will not have the distinct attachment however that this is permanent art on their body. There will always be those who appreciate and even love all of it, just as there will always be those that have particular styles that they love and can do without the rest. I'm glad that there are not sub-forums for the different styles. The underlying process of artist search and selection, booking, preparation, getting tattooed, healing and maintenance is pretty much the same. I'm thankful for the generous sharing of those aspects here, and just try to observe the rest. I'm trying to learn to appreciate ALL of the styles (comic book walking dead is quite a stretch for me) represented here. - - - Updated - - - Try @livedintattoos on Instagram.
  3. Yeah, wore the mesh jacket because it is forecast to be in the 80s this afternoon. REALLY thankful for the GoldWing's wind protection this morning!
  4. That's it! A cape! Brilliant! (BTW, I have seen several nice cap and quarter sleeve dresses on Chicstar, where I have purchased surprises for the wife).
  5. My grandfather's WW1 cupie doll was still distinct in the early 80's. So, it might just last better than you think.
  6. Eight days after my shoulder cameo. First peal finished (finally!) Milk skin covering it now. It will peal also (but with no color loss) if it goes like my other ones. Used Sarah's Tattoo Aftercare until the first peal was over, now using Gold Bond Ultimate Healing with Aloe. This was my most solid ink coverage, but other than stinging mildly like a sunburn, no problem. I avoided sleeping on it just for fear of damaging the tattoo, and woke up on it one morning.
  7. Ohioan? That is the first time I have ever heard a Buckeye called an Ohioan! (And, I was born North of Columbus in Mt. Vernon)

    Symboldictionary

A type of swastika is a religious and political party symbol in India. There are so many symbols that are offensive to some and attractive to others. A symbolic version of political correctness is just what we need in a world already so easily offended by everything. Some day people will be afraid to say or do anything in fear of offending others (except for those that enjoy offending others). A little understanding, tolerance, and reason might go a long way.
  9. I don't really think about coordinating ink and clothing. I tend to make sure clothing is somewhat coordinated (no pink shirt with green slacks). All that normally shows unless I wear an A shirt or muscle shirt is my B&G forearm faked line (I wanted the cameo of my wife to show below short sleeves, but it is probably best that she doesn't - would distract my students). But, a mermaid? I've seen lots of traditional-looking mermaids! Go for it!
  10. How about a mermaid and for filler run a line (shore-bound call them "ropes") around it all. And yes, it is not a race. Leaving space for experiences to fill is always good.
  11. Seems like a lot of good smaller pieces this week.
  12. Believe me, at 50, 60 - you won't care if it shows. You'll probably flaunt it!
  13. Yeah, I think it is a forum software AND Tapatalk problem. Don't expect Tapatalk to fix anything, though.
  14. Sarah Hurst (recently voted Knoxville's BEST tattoo artist - congrats!) placed this awesome cameo of my beautiful wife (from a photo taken on our honeymoon 34 years ago) on my left shoulder yesterday evening. I am VERY happy!

  17. Hope you are getting an awesome piece today! (Hope I do too!) It has been three weeks since I had the tattoo that was originally done on December 27th re-worked to correct what I saw as major flaws. It has taken me those whole three weeks to accept and begin to like it. I don't love it yet, and don't know if I ever will, but at least I like it now and can wear short sleeves and expose it. Sure hope you can go through similar changes.

  19. My wife claims she can feed me Jello and I still have the gas problem.
  20. I have developed a strange outbreak of ~1"-2" odd shaped brown blotches in various spots. Legs (largest is ~3" blotch behind my left knee), ribs, hips, bottom of arms - primarily in the softer, paler areas (maybe sun will help this summer). No itch, scale, sensation - just a slight redish-brown discoloration. I'll point it out to my artist, but it is nowhere near my next tattoo (or any of my existing tattoos). Wife and I thought it might be ringworm (not a worm, but a fungus) or some other systemic fungal infection, but it doesn't respond to any anti-fungal treatment, and seems to become a permanent faint-brown spot. Now, at 62 and having worked with various chemicals, carcinogens, and radioactive elements for the majority of my life, it could be most anything.
  21. Sorry, XCOM. But, you might commemorate this when you climb out of the hole with.... a tattoo! Good news on roofs (at least the three I've lost) - you get a whole new one that is good for at least 20 years for the deductible. Make sure the use at a minimum the quality that you had. My agent cut me a second check when I showed him that we previously had the same extra-life shingles that they put on.
  22. So sorry that you have been hurt, but... count blessings it has finally come out, and you can move on. My wife has no body mods and was a bit shocked last year when I started. She seems to mainly be concerned that I get good work safely, and am pleased with it. She has never indicated an objection. It hasn't changed who I am.
  23. You might have green in the tendrils, red in the sails.
