  1. Well. That was a no-go. They do not have picosure laser (even though they prominently advertise it). They want about five times what Mike Panic has mentioned for a session on my ~3" (at the widest) by 8" area. They can't concentrate on one area over another at all. Or won't. They listed a lot of pain and severe blistering as common (no mention of topicals or even cooling) and when I said that intense pain causes me to black out, they said it was because I wasn't getting enough oxygen. I carefully exited and will not be back there. Only two other places in the area. Neither even advertises picosure. Mike, put in a shop closer!
  2. Well, not getting new ink but.... going by for a test-the-water consult this afternoon on getting this abortion on my right arm lightened enough to have it re-done properly. Oh, and I'll pay for it all myself, thanks.
  3. Sure wish your studio was closer to Knoxville!
  4. They really don't like discussion of the craft here. But, as a non-tattoo artist I'll suggest trying holding your machine (unplugged) up to the center of the screen of an old NEC CRT and turning the monitor on. They had a healthy degauss coil that briefly energized every time you turned it on.
  5. To sailors, it's called a screw. Good idea, it would complement the anchor well.
  6. Had a final touch-up on my left harm half sleeve. Another enjoyable session with Sarah Hurst @ Vivid Tattoo in Knoxville. No plans for future work.
  7. A pint of Maker's Mark and a nice tip this time. She likes bourbon.
  8. No, no! The tattoo! The article is very interesting, and I'm working my way through its pages. The tattoo is poorly executed, and his correction was to make dark background to try and cover blown lines. To laser it would take thousands and many years that I don't have, so I've tried unsuccessfully to make peace with it.
  9. Ok, your wife's is awesome, but your sleeve is motorcycle related, which to me trumps her gorgeous work. Love the added ATGATT, too.
  10. Wow. Bottom of first page had one by an "artist" in the shop owned by the guy that did the tattoo on my forearm. I'm still not at peace with it.
  11. So nice to have Tapatalk function's on my favorite tattoo board! Thanks for the hard work!
  12. 7th of next month I take the wife to an antique tractor and engine show plus strawberry festival (same place), then I go to Vivid Tattoo and Sarah will do the final touch-up on all that she has done on my left arm. Then I'm finished. Really. No, I mean it, no more ink! Nada. Don't you believe me?
  13. Hope it isn't a threat or insult. Great design is one thing. Cultural design that may have symbols is another.
  14. Comcast took Spike out of our package, so I'm spared of any more of the couch wars.
  15. Sucks when you can't love your own tattoo, I know. Sucks when a demonstrated good artist doesn't seem to care to do great work for you. I know. Just sharing the disappointment, not judging your tattoo (didn't spend much time looking at it). Your own judgment of it counts most, although compliments can help ease the pain.
  16. Your weight should have nothing to do with your tattoos, and vice-versa.
  17. One year on, how is it going for you now? I'm sorry to say that I don't like mine any more than before, but I'm just too darn old to think of laser blasting it and having it redone, and it's too dark to just ink blast over. Still working on liking it, but it is so hard when I feel it is so not what I wanted. Not cartoonish, just really poorly executed. I really hope that yours is growing on you and becoming something you cherish. Being on the forearm really reminds one of it constantly.
  18. It won't look good. Come up with something that represents the vows.
  19. Not workplace, but.... I plan to travel to India next January to visit friends and maybe speak in several gatherings about my faith. Since the last time I was there, I seem to have acquired a few tattoos. We normally wear long-sleeved shirts there anyway, and leave them for native preachers when we leave. I'll be sure to wear only long-sleeves this time. Not for my hosts, as I believe they will understand and accept the ink, but I don't want to cause other disturbance in fairly simple remote farming villages.
  20. Don't have the real thing to compare it to - that would be for the parent, I guess. I understand the pressure of doing this, much more than a celeb, parent, or grown child thing. They are only that age once.
  21. Hi, Steph. We like pictures!
  22. Pretty blessed. Many woke today to no job, no food, and will sleep under a poly tarp. Or won't wake.
  23. Hi. I replied to your cover-up post. You are young enough to take your time and get what you will live with. At least initial laser shouldn't scar, will let you know how you handle it, and give more options once you find a great artist.
  24. I've had good luck avoiding leg cramps and night twitches by drinking tonic water (the quinine does it). Might help this, too.
