  1. Speaking of- Im considering booking some time with Deno on his DC stop... gonna call the shop tomorrow to see if he has time open. Can anyone shed some light on pronunciation? Deno like Dino Deno like Den-o I dont want to look like a bigger ass than normal when I call...
  2. When I open a tab (I use Rockmelt and Chome mostly) for LST, I get a password prompt, even though I'm logged in. It accepted it the first time, but not subsequent times, prompting me every time I click OK. When I clicked CANCEL it went away and I was still logged in. Problem started this morning.
  3. I picked it up from an Ed Hardy documentary years ago, when he said he 'wore' a certain deity on his ribs.... I confess to saying it in place of have sometimes.
  4. My lady and I were given a gift card for SCARPETTA in Las Vegas; we made the most of it this week. I had the foie gras & duck ravioli (perfectly decadent) and pancetta wrapped veal with sweetbreads and Claire had the sea bass. Small portions but totally worth it.
  5. The repaints are looking amazing; this book is going to be awesome.
  6. Does Ami HAVE an apprentice, or is it a character on the show?
  7. I made cilantro lime butter the other night with locally sourced whipping cream, fresh lime zest and cilantro. I've used it on tilapia and hot rolls. Nom. Going to Vegas this weekend, have my buffets planned out!
  8. I don't begrudge anyone for wanting their piece of the cake, but that chick that's going to be on it, who's apparently from my own beloved Philadelphia, seems like she's trying WAY to hard to be a personality. I don't know her and that's just musing idly, but she looks like she's bursting at the seams to be the next big thing.
  9. Most of the Kevin Smith catalogue just got put on streaming, as well as the Tarantino earlier films (Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie)- I think they just signed Miramax.
  10. Nibble and Sip: tattoo nutrition and my experiences with long distance cycling My friend David's take on tattoos and nutrition.
  11. I love me some Tom Hardy. Maybe I'll netflix me some BRONSON tonight.
  12. "This is my blog. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My blog, without me, is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I must blog straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me." There may be something out there like that, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't start your own. There are a million tattoo blogs out there that get updated 10000 times a day, but I love mine and think it fills in a little niche- you should do the same.
  13. Now with more (Tom Hardy as) BANE!
  14. I knew a kid in florida who made an appt with Eddie Deustche for "one of them elephant headed buddhas" back in the day. I wish I could have been there when he asked for that.
  15. I find sleeping on plastic sheets to always be the right choice. And yeah, getting my backpiece started had me stuck to HOTEL SHEETS. Hotel sheets are icky.
  16. Well said, Avery. Reality tv is toxic. I don't watch tv in general (I netflix, it's true) but reality tv can be soul crushing. I was contacted a few years back to audition to host an 'around the world' type adventure show. I would travel from continent to continent showcasing traditional tattoo technique. Japan, Borneo, Samoa.... Literally a dream come true. I had been recommended by a few people who had turned down the show and half considered it. Bein PAID to go to Japan and lay down for traditional tattooing? (yeah. They wanted me to get tattooed by the 'masters' I met along the way) How could I say no. They knew my backgrounds, both professional (where public speaking wouldn't have been an issue) and leisurely (tattoo culture specifically interested them) and made me a decent proposal. Then I read the audition requirements. I had to make a video of myself eating 'disgusting things' and reacting. "Example- grub worms, durian fruit (which I strangely don't find too terrible) wasabi et all" I emailed the producer and asked what any of that had to do with tattooing. She told me that it would be like a "fear factor meets miami inked!". Instead of JUST getting tattooed, I'd have to degrade myself on film, mocking the cultures I was there to interview by strongly reacting to their indigenous food. I turned them down. I hear it was eventually made into a show that lasted two or three episodes.
  17. With my latest tattoo I knew that the artist was not only a musician but also a big fan of my favorite film director; so I went through my memorabilia and gifted him with an LP of the soundtrack from one of the directors most well known films. It's been out of print since 1970, so the album is quite old and devilishly difficult to find. I paid $45 for it ten years ago. Normally I would have tipped more than $45, but I think the album was much more appropriate.
  18. Is it wrong that I just checked my bank account to see if I had a spare $5k?
  19. I'd run to Thomas Hooper at Saved. Saved Tattoo :)
  20. Im going to vegas in a few weeks. this will make me rethink my whoring options.
  21. I have an appointment with Irons on Sunday, Rapture permitting.
  22. When I was little, I saw an old 'tattooed man' in Gibsonton, Florida. Gibb'town was where the circuses and sideshows wintered and a lot of the old timers ended up retiring down there. It's also where we went fishing with our folks, so seeing extraordinary people was a perk. I remember seeing his arms, just blueish black messes, and wanting SO much to be like that when I grew up.
  23. Yeah. I could barely get through the article.
