  1. I honestly thought that the producers would let that clown stay on for a while, for 'better television'.
  2. Rum Diary was alright; Depp really got into the Thompson mode again. Much less 'dynamic' than his more Gonzo turn in Fear and Loathing but worth a watch.
  3. Drive took me a few screenings to really love. The movie is dedicated to my favorite director (Jodorowsky) and the scorpion on the Driver's jacket is in homage to another favorite (Anger) director. Wending Refn's direction is very tense; it took me a bit to really appreciate him as a director. (as well as Valhalla Rising, the film he did before Drive).
  4. I recommend the 'slang terms that make you cringe' thread.

  6. Sorry, Iwar- they're not one white shirts. Grey/black ringer shirts.
  7. Incidentally- with wordpress, I can track how people get to Occult Vibrations; since Ink Master premiered on the 17th, "Oliver Peck" has moved to the third most searched term that leads people to OV. (first is Occult Vibrations, second is Thomas Hooper) More people come to OV by searching Peck's name in 12 days than in all of 2011.
  8. I've apologized for that like... twenty times dude. Give it up.
  9. I'm telling you... Philly cops are getting progressively more visible tattoos; so much so that when I talk about the "cop with the hand and neck tattoos" I have to specify where I saw them because there are enough of them that I could be talking about different officers.
  10. Thoughts on e2: Ton Jones isn't "heavily tattooed". He's just heavy. My fiancee's 81yo Jewish Bubbe used to have the same sunglasses that Chriss Angel... errr.. Navarro is wearing on the car challenge. Peck calling James "hillbilly" was funny. Al Fliction's glasses are stupid. As stupid as Al Fliction. I want to see Peck and Nunez tattoo a pig in a 32* meat locker, pinstripe a car and braid Navarro's hair to match Al's goatee. I want to eat crawdaddies with James at a hoedown. I can't believe the producers didn't have a backup for psoriasis guy other than two tons of fun. I feel bad for having watched another episode.
  11. Oh man... you have to watch out with drunk Finns. Last time I went drinking with Finns, we ended up screaming perkele at the tops of our lungs while trying to buy mustard.
  12. I locked myself out of my house (again) the other day, so I excused myself to the movie theater to pass the time till my more responsible fiancee' made it home. Haywire: Sodeburgh. I really hope he doesn't give up directing to paint. It was fun. Great action, great cast but...the digital looked really muddy. Either use better quality cameras or shoot film, man. Underworld: the 3d was great. The movie wasn't mindblowing; if anything it was mostly forgettable save for the style over substance awesomeness. MI: Ghost Protocol. I like Tom Cruise, even though he's a nutty Scientologist. I was really geeked because this was Brad Bird's (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant) first live action film. 15 mins into the movie I could have told you how it would end. That predictable. The style wasn't enough to justify the lack of substance.
  13. So you went with a small one? :D Looks great man!
  14. I haven't trimmed my beard since Halloween (It helps keep me warm) and I was... Well... I was kind of hoping you'd braid my beard, Dari.
  15. I'm the most boring cat in the cradle, ya'all. That, and LST is searchable via google, so most of my stories are off limits :D
  16. David- It's been ups and downs. The house was inexpensive because it's in a questionable neighborhood and the owners invested in a major refurb then couldn't sell it. I put 1/4 of the price of the house down, and every year pay a minimum four extra payments on the principal.
  17. I'm notoriously anti-social, Dari; I see my out of city/state/country friends more often than I see/meet people in the 215. Welcome to LST none the less, Nikki. It's a great community.
  18. It's a mixed blessing. I went five years at my old (rented) place without a rent increase; and then the building changed owners, my lease was rewritten and I had a $100/month rent increase the following two years. Had I not moved I'm sure it would have kept going up and I would have eventually had to move out. When I bought my house, I put $25k down (which was a kick in the nuts) but quintupled my space, was able to customize everything (hardwood floors, rooms the colors I want, etc) and ended up living the dream. Then the skylight had a leak. $1000 out of pocket. Still... I still pay the same as I did in 2007 and even if I don't refinance I'll still end up paying significantly less than the rent paid by most of my peers.
