  1. I find Royboy to be one of the most fascinating examples of "Tattoo Celebrity" out there. His videos were once reviewed as "little more than proof of possessions for his insurance company with liberal dashes of racism and bad tattooing". I should know since I wrote that review :D Yet he seems to really love tattooing. And speaking about himself in third person. Shawn approves. hahaha
  2. I always thought he was a shameless self aggrandizer; but hell, most of those old guys were. First time I met Gil Montie, he referred to himself in third person. (Come to think, second and third times, too)
  3. I think it was 1989 or 90. Typical biker shop. My folks got my brother and I tattoos as a present for graduating high school early. Two fresh faced kids and a bunch of dudes in denim vests and colors. Yeah. I fit RIGHT in. I remember that the artist wore gloves but not shoes. Hahah. The smell of green soap brings me back every time though. if they could make a cologne out of it, I'd probably wear it.
  4. Hmm. Honestly not sure. I have a lot of the common stuff (Signatures of the Soul, The metamorphosis II stuff, et all) and a lot of home video stuff. It'll all turn up eventually if I have it.
  5. So... five days later I cooked it. Came out perfectly. At first I was worried that using a store bought "pickling spice" would throw off the flavor. For the first few days it smelled way too much like clove and cinnamon. By the time I cooked it (with garlic, onions and carrots) everything blended together and it had that familiar corned beef taste with a slightly different texture. I did sour dough sandwiches with spicy mustard, and another round with cole slaw and russian dressing. Now I'm itching to do a brisket.
  6. I haven't watched some of this stuff in years, so Im sure there'll be bits I have to cut out due to tape degradation, but I'll do my best to preserve it.
  7. as a side note... have you handled a VHS tape lately? They seem so f'ing BIG now. This is coming from a dude who only sold his laser disc collection four years ago :D
  8. I wish the commercially produced stuff would get legit dvd releases; I don't want to step on anyone's toes but I figure I'll put them online until someone says "hey, I hold the copyright to those, you dick". Then I'll pull them.
  9. So I'm pretty much a packrat. And I have 1000s of hours of VHS video in various rubber maids around my house. Some commercially produced stuff. Some literally one of a kind transfers of old 8mm films that were left to me when older friends passed away. I found out last night that my "dazzle" video hub doesn't work with a mac, so I put an order in for a Apple compatible device. Soon I'll be transcoding old films to digital. I'll try to remember to post links to anything I put on youtube here, though some of the footage (Cliff Raven tattooing naked) may not be everyone's cup of tea so I'll use discretion. First up is some NON naked Raven, some classic Realistic Tattoo stuff with Hardy, Irons, Salmon, Zulueta and the gang. Just have to wait for the hardware to arrive!

    BEARDS!

It's the bees knees. LUSH -- Hair Care Products: American Cream Conditioner (normal hair, dry hair) Expensive, but really... aren't beards worth it?

    BEARDS!

I hate hearing friends say "I think I'm going to grow a beard". I think you either have a beard or you don't. In fairness I shaved to get my throat tattooed, so at least there was a reason for it.
  12. Every time a new edition of Cannibal Holocaust comes out, I compulsively buy it. I think I have three now. Same with Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I can't control myself. Oh.. there's a NEW commentary track? Then I must have it.

    BEARDS!

I've had a beard since I could grow one. Probably around 17. I've shaved it off once in 20 years; bad idea all around. I haven't trimmed it since October, so it's pleasantly out of control right now. I use LUSH American Cream conditioner on it to keep it nice and soft.
  14. Dude, it was amazing. Speaking of Jodorowsky- I just framed this badboy and it's hanging over my bed: http://blog.mondotees.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/SantaSangreFinalBlog.jpg It's all metallic pigment, 2'x3'. Gorgeous.
  15. Higgs. We all know it's not going to happen, but... Higgs. Freddie Corbin. More from David Bruehl. Scott Harrison. Adam Shrewsbury. Erik Bartholomaus.
  16. I pack incredibly light when I travel. I consider some items disposable. So it's not uncommon for me to leave behind all of the socks I packed, and depending on what I bought when I was traveling, all of the shirts I packed. (black Haynes or Calvin Klein tshirts in bulk for the win) I also leave behind at least $20, regardless of how long/short I've stayed in the hotel. I expect a lot from my cleaning ladies (I call for my bed to be remade any time it's messy) so I try to leave a little cheddar. UNINTENTIONALLY I generally leave my toiletries, which sucks, cause I usually pack LUSH products and that stuff ain't cheap.
  17. The Bluray version of Santa Sangre is SO f'ing nice. When Topo and Mountian finally come out, I'm going to lock myself in my movie room and not come out for a few days. I had a chance to go see Holy Mountain in NYC about four, five years ago. They had just restored the print and it was crisper than I had ever seen it. Before the show starts, they introduce Alejandro and we collectively gasped. He spoke for a little bit, then sat right down with us and watched the movie. I had met Kenneth Anger earlier that night, so walking up and shaking hands with Jodorowsky.... that just made my year. Sadly, I don't ever see KING SHOT getting made. It's been in "preproduction" for a couple of years now.
  18. Lil Wayne styled facejunk. I've seen two kids under 18 with extensive face graffiti in the last few weeks with 10x that for over 18s.
  19. I had an Aussie houseguest for a month a few years ago who introduced me to the awesomeness of Chopper. HARDEN THE FUCK UP is now a mantra. Movies: I watch everything from snobby art flicks (Jodorowsky is my favorite director- Santa Sangre just came out on Bluray, with El Topo and Holy Mountain coming soon) to romcoms. My neighbor and I go see a movie a week. Regardless of what's playing. Constant top five: 1. El Topo 2. The Holy Mountain 3. The Empire Strikes Back 4. The Shining 5. The Thing It was pointed out to me once that all of my favorite movies start with THE.
  20. He painted this from a photo of my foot. I think a week or so after the tattoo.
  21. I'm from Plant City, Deb- I went up to Daytona to get tattooed by Aitchison and Wilson was at Cindy's shop just hanging out. He was closest to my age so we just sort of clicked.
  22. I've seen the links for charcuteriepalooza, but have yet to actually follow through with it. So far everything they've done is something I had already done, so I'm biding my time until something fun comes along. (haha- Just checked- this month is brining! I guess I'm participating afterall!)
  23. I live in South Philly, just off of Snyder. It's a great location. Little 'hood, but my house only cost me $100k so screw it, I'll own it in no time. I'm a 10 minute walk from Ikea, Target, Best Buy (all east) and the Italian Market (north). My bar is in the gayborhood, off Walnut. It's a.... niche.. bar, but totally fun and worth leaving my real job for last year. My Liberty Bell obsession came from having an hour lunch break every day and working 3 blocks from the Bell. I'd take my breaks there every day... grab some street vendor food, lay out a towel during the summer and take my shoes off and just enjoy the tourists and the scenery. I had just recently moved to Philly then, and the Bell just sort of became a symbol for everything I loved about the city.
