There's a long story about the 'why' of us getting that particular design... To condense it- when we started dating a mutual friend told us that our being happy was 'just the honeymoon phase. don't worry, it will pass' and we were blown away by how snarky and shitty a comment it was. So we started joking about getting a tattoo that was ambiguously a nod to Honey Moon Phase as a bigolfuckyou joke. I've never gotten a tattoo with a partner before and when we were discussing it we decided not to add initials or date or anything to 'play it safe' but ultimately it was a really great experience.

My girlfriend and I got 'honeymoon phase' tattoos from Nic Lynds in Austin while we were on vacation. This one is hers. Mine is the same just harder to shoot.

So Navarro has been hanging around the Suspension community, hanging from hooks* and generally making something with a pretty interesting history about himself. I'm watching my friends make absolute asses of themselves sucking up to him. People who would hate Janes or RHCP's music but seem intoxicated by a celebrity paying attention to them. And I told my girlfriend tonight that Ladyface was on the most recent season of Sons of Anarchy (we just started watching) and she japed "Why is it that he ruins every single thing that I love!" *commentary on suspension and how you think it's icky isn't why I posted, so just look at this as another reason to think Ladyface is a douche.

My first impression of you was as follows: "Man. JSB looks just like Kevin Smith"

Team Occult Vibrations 2013 Philly AIDS Walk 5k!
ShawnPorter replied to ShawnPorter's topic in Random Crap
We raised almost $3600 for people affected by HIV/AIDS. My time wasn't stellar, but I ran the 5k on two hours sleep and nursing a chest cold, so I'll accept my 29mins gracefully. There were a few LST folks who contributed- I hope my thank you email made it to you... if not, thank you SO much for helping the team and I- and more importantly people who really need the services your donations help provide. -
Halloween in Austin Texas!
ShawnPorter replied to ShawnPorter's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
Uncommon is on my list! It's on my bucket list in life to see a movie, specifically a horror movie, at the Alamo. So I'm glad to be crossing that off. They recently threw Madonna out for texting during a film. -
Halloween in Austin Texas!

My main focus is getting a JACKALOPE at Frank. -
Hey ya'all! My lady and I are going to be visiting Austin Texas for Halloween. we're already making a list of fun touristy stuff to do (I don't care if seeing bats is touristy, I'm going to see the GODDAMNED BATS) but we're still trying to figure out fun stuff to do! We're 100% on Terror Tuesday at the Alamo and we're considering tattoos. Any good walk-in spots in Austin?

Pretty much every time he opened his mouth. Hibbard was created and encouraged by the producers- believe it. For Nunez to call him out re: "real" tattooers implies that he (Nunez) isn't selling out tattooing as well. But hey. S'long as the check clears, right?
-
I think that Nunez made an absolute ass out of himself on the finale.

Old Tattoo Documentaries

I just found an old VHS tape that my mentor shot at a tattoo convention called 'Grandpa Groovys' in I believe Virginia. I was capturing footage when I noticed some decent clips of Paul Rogers tattooing. I don't know a lot about the convention (mid late 1980s?) but I'll try to get it all edited down soon. Paul. Sailor Moses with a mullet... good times! -
NYC LST Get together
ShawnPorter replied to slayer9019's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
I can't do sundays, but thanks for the invite. I'm going to be in nyc for comic con next weekend, but only for a few hours. -
it was great. It's always great. Bink is a joy to get tattooed by. You'll get an honest, clean tattoo from a swell dude.

Robert Ryan. Outlines started. The head of John the Baptist as an oracle of divine prophecy.
-
Trying this again; getting tattooed by Robert Ryan tomorrow! yaay! This appointment has moved more than the Freelings (bonus points to anyone who gets that reference) and I'm really geeked to get it started.

No worries. And hey... after a long hiatus... I finally bought a NEW macbook (pro!) with a 500gb hard drive. So. I can finally convert video again. (My macbook had 2gb of open space) I have more Zeke Owen coming this week.... -
JODOROWSKY's DUNE (documentary) was... woah.
-
The Douche Chills was the name of my second band. So. If you're getting tattooed... listen to this:

its always interesting. It would be taboo to play white power music most tattoo shops (these days. The 1980s were weird) but most folks wouldnt shudder at hardline sXe stuff like Vegan Reich, Earth Crisis etc. That's why I listen to Zoe Keating. She plays a cello.

It's always funny when Skrewdriver gets brought up. Well, not really FUNNY per se, but it's one of those 'get out the popcorn, kick your feet up and watch it unfold'. Usually it starts with 'well, their first album was ok' (which we've already gotten) and at some point a devil's advocate will point out that it's ok to listen to NWA but not Skrewdriver and isn't that equally blah blah blah. Oh look. My popcorn is ready. :D

I go with OM, Zoe Keating, Wilco, Lungfish... Sort of all over the place.
