In this thread, we commiserate about healing our fresh tattoos.

Agreed. My other ditch has light scaring. However, shoulder, middle of the arm etc have several issues as well. Thank you for the response. -

Thank you. I read a few things after seeing that. My intention wasn’t to be annoying but I figured if anyone is going to be educated on a topic like that it’s going to be on this forum. -

Ok, stupid question. Does anyone know if altitude can play into the healing process? I’ve gotten heavily tattooed the last several years and recently moved to Colorado. I still fly to San Francisco but strangely my tattoos just aren’t healing the way they normally have. Scott Sylvia is the one applying it so it’s obviously not an issue of poor saturation. Most recently I got flames and my Fudo colored in. I have three scars in the ditch that almost look like razor scratches as well as some areas that ink has essentially just fallen out of. If that sounds confusing I just mean that the color looks somewhat patchy as you can see open skin amidst the flames. Not large gaps but almost like several little marks of open skin. I thought maybe diabetes but those results came up negative. Sorry for the long post but some help would be great! Thanks guys! -
I have a couple of new things! I got tattooed by Timothy Hoyer in my state of CO, about a month ago and then headed SF for another session with Scott Sylvia. I’ll post pics soon but I’ve been battling MRSA on my foot. When both are fully healed I’ll post :) what I can tell you guys is that Timothy is a really nice and down to earth guy (it was my first time meeting him). Also, Scott did something that was way too cool. I’ve become friends with him at this point and I was explaining that I lost my collection of flash and prints and I’m in the middle of rebuilding. Him being as cool as he is, he’s gonna send me a ton of prints!!! Couldn’t ask to meet better people with this hobby. I don’t comment often but there are people as obsessed with this thing as me and I knew you guys would find that cool.

I’m getting tattooed by Timothy Hoyer this Friday. Can’t wait!

So F***ing cool that you plan an awesome trip to California to get tattooed. I fly out to California next month to continue my Fudo/dragon sleeve with Scott Sylvia. I used to live about an hour and a half away from Black Heart but life happens and now I live in Colorado. Interestingly enough, Timothy Hoyer is in town soon and we have been messaging about getting something cool. Wish me luck!

I should clarify my advice on the subject isn't to abandon your current tattoo in progress, but if your in between appointments and get something in between I see no problem with it, providing you can afford to do so
-
I'm in the middle of a sleeve with Scott Sylvia and I have went and got fun one session tattoos in between by him. I'd say go for it if you can afford it.

Just got more work on my fudo/dragon sleeve from Scott Sylvia. Background is coming along very nice.

Yeah I'm really excited. I have a lot of cool tattoos either already in the works or coming up soon so it's great. I'm looking forward to the traveling as well. Texas should be very interesting. Your collection seems like it has a wide array of locations from a myriad of people. I still can't get over that piece from Theo you got.

Gonna book an appointment with Chris Trevino next week. Not sure of the exact date as I have to book it still but we briefly spoke on the phone about it and I couldn't be more excited. This will be my first time traveling out of state for a tattoo and I think I'll make a nice trip out of it. Just gotta wait until pay day and I'm gonna put the deposit down.

Going to do my chest and stomach next year. Haha I remember asking Scott Sylvia what getting the stomach done is like and he looked up and just said, "It's a whole other ball game."

I'm always surprised by the wait list some artists have Vs. some that don't have as big of one. A longer wait list doesn't always mean a better tattoo. However, it can if you've chosen the right person to do it. I guess it all comes down to what you prefer. I'd be willing to wait a long time for certain people but I worry that some people equate a long wait list to greater quality when that isn't always the case.

Nice, We'll be on the lookout. I live about an hour and a half from the bay area and I was super bummed I couldn't get an appointment with Jef Whitehead while he is guesting at temple. Next time I guess. Just stuck in between pay periods but I think I'll be going to Scott's walk in day in august ;)

I have several tattoos from Scott. He is indeed very fast! When he tattooed me with that Dobleman collaboration machine I was getting my snake/roses combo (Yeah the profile pic). But I also have a girl head, a shark drinking beer (lol) and another sleeve currently in progress by him. He's too cool of a dude to not get tons of work from. I'll get to other people on my list one day, just not sure when yet! You have a killer collection btw.
-
Still need to hit a convention. A great list for sure! Dobleman is an awesome tattooer, I remember thinking it was super cool when Scott Sylvia tattooed me a machine they did together.

Next appointment with Scott Sylvia isn't until October sixth to continue my Fudo/Dragon sleeve. However, Scott does have a walk in day once a month and I'm pretty sure I'll be going in and getting a design of the wall the first weekend of August.

More progress on the fudo/dragon sleeve. One week old today. Outlined/shaded the inside of my arm and did the coverup on my bicep.
-
Awesome! What are you gonna put on the forearm?
-
Agreed! Aaron Coleman is an awesome tattooer. Seems to be a nice guy too. I ordered a shirt months back and he sent a whole bunch of goodies and a personal note. Was a nice touch.

Go back to Black Heart in June to continue my Fudo/Dragon sleeve. The more I look at it the more I love it. I'm also gonna talk to Scott about landing an appointment with someone in October. I'd say but I don't want to jinx it. Lately I've been planning a whole lot of tattoos and trying to get a general time frame. I've gotten a lot of work done since last October and I figure I'm in a good position to pay for tattoos now so I might as well keep it rolling.
