I got a similar story. Killing time in the shop my buddy used to work at in Vegas and we stumbled upon this gem (aka the stupidest flash in the shop). Lo and behold it ended up on my skin. The "2012" was just a freehand add-on cuz we started joking about the apocolaypse and saying these space monkeys from the future are what 2012 is really going to be about.

This sounds like it could have been paraphrased from my shrink. Definitely some good concepts touched upon here Dean. It's crazy how much the self basics of diet, exercise, balance, and self-compassion correlate to your interactions with the outside world as well.

that I introduce myself. I haven't posted anything here because the concept of "introducing" yourself to people on the internet seems a little strange to me. But seeing as I'll probably be meeting some of y'all at the upcoming SFO convention and you all seem pretty cool so far, ah what the hell! Anyways, I live in the great Oakland, CA and am into art and food in both of their many variations. I can go on and on about any visual art or music or bbq or mexican food. Mmmmmm. If anybody cares to give me the secret to good refried beans that's my newest recipe I'm trying to perfect. And for art, for those of you who live in LA I highly recommend you go to this FREE exhibit at the Getty Center. I just went last month and it was the most poignant photograpy I've seen in a long time. In particular, Sebastião Salgado's work was mind-blowing. The pictures you get from googling his name do not do him justice. See you guys around the board if not at the upcoming convention!

Rad! Loved the box of gloves tip! hahaha -
I honestly can't recall but that's a great way to describe somebody. He moved there around 3 years ago if I remember correctly and looking at the shop's old staff that's gotta be him then. Time to edit the list..

Here's my small list. Hard to get tattooed when you're dead ass broke and don't wanna go to a scratcher! Hoping to scrounge some cash together to tack another name on at SFO convention this month tho... Scott Sylvia (multiple- chest, belly, arm, legs) Juan Puente Nick Rodin Mike Lucena Doug Hansen (multiple) Iggy Vans Josh Colaci Hey Dean- what's the story behind you getting tattooed by an 11 year old boy?? Also does anyone care to share stories of getting tattooed by their wife/significant other? I noticed a lot of you had wives on your lists

appropriating ideas from other artists
Jake replied to MsRad's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
I believe every artist in every form (not just tattooing) takes their influences with them. It's just a matter of trying to put your own spin on it and when an original idea does come then run with it with all you've got. Great artists are rarely born bursting with original ideas. The beginning stages of most artists involve a mimicking of something they appreciate so they can learn their craft. Most great artists that I've met manage to put in many hours of practice and work past the mimicking stage to a point where they're combining a great variety of influences to show the world their own unique vision.- 77 replies
