Why the hatred for Cherry Creek Flash?
briankelly replied to William Burgess's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
i think cherry creek is awesome. people don't know it so well in europe. i even tattooed a flying pig from the flash on my wrist and all girls think it is the cutest tattoo ever. -
when i worked in dublin, a guy came in with these tattoos. got them done when he was 15 by Johnny Eagle. surprisingly, he is still with Karen. he wanted to cover them up with tribal, even though i was putting more polished traditional on his son. never saw him again.

For TATTOOERS ONLY, what's your biggest pet peeve?
briankelly replied to dari's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
to clarify, i don't think the non-tattooers understood. the girl wants a half sleeve based on the solar system (whatever that means) finished in about a month. she also lives several hours outside of berlin, meaning she will need to make one 5 hour trip just to talk about it and try to work out a plan. people with this sort of vague idea usually do not understand what sort of commitment getting a big tattoo is. i am interested in making nice tattoos for money, not making money making crap tattoos. and i do tattoo for free, but only on friends. and yes, dan. that one on the guestbook is pretty good, but i don't read german. i also fully disagree that if someone wants a tattoo that automatically means i have to reply to them.- 158 replies

here's one sent to the facebook page for our shop. mind you, at this studio we all take our own appointments and nobody is in charge. management is completely hands off. "Hey there, looking to get a half sleeve based on the solar system. In dresden so not far from berlin till the end of February. Any chance this would be possible?" i don't reply to things like this, it hurts my head to try to figure out how this could work.- 158 replies

i can't see the tattoo you want covered up, but i would suggest a tattoo of a man. with a big black beard.

i like the old man's letter. it's got piss and vinegar. what's the difference between a tattoo school and milton zeis' mail order course? just curious. seems like they were both out to make money.

Cross-hatching in tatttoos
briankelly replied to slayer9019's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
i think this stuff is easiest when done at a large scale. -
everybody has their own way to do this stuff. i've been convinced by much better tattooers than i to wrap it for 3 days. first day, leave the wrap on til morning. wash, let dry, no ointment, re-wrap. leave on until morning. repeat. after the third day, the tattoo is healed on the surface and begins to peal. i found this to be a nice way to deal with my knee and crotch being tattooed, which could have been quite uncomfortable at work. the problem with this method is getting the customer to do it correctly. so i only explain it to ones who i think are smart enough to follow directions and are getting bigger work in uncomfortable spots.

April 2012 Best Tattoo of the Month Contest
briankelly replied to Lochlan's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
doing this tattoo made me think i had to get my own knee tattooed. it probably isn't right to inflict so much pain on someone without having gone through it myself. -
