I feel that these people are predominantly just superficial. That is what is so insulting about it. When your main concern is only to LOOK like something, then I lose all respect for that person. I didn't go to an art school, but NY does have a large hipster subculture and it really makes me sad to see how they conduct themselves. The outright arrogance I have experienced is maddening. I boil it down to a softer world that allows people to behave so grossly in public. (If I behaved this way when I was younger I would have been punched, and I am not so far removed from their generation). Hipster to me has not lost its emphasis, my wife will call me a hipster when she wants to piss me off. It is similar to the emo wave of tattoos. I knew a kid that had all these awful song lyrics boldly tattooed ALL OVER. This was a good chunk of time ago, so he must be regretting them by now. I'm hoping all these hipsters with their awful throat tattoos just become a mark of shame and stupidity in 5 years time.

Is there are way to politely explain your concerns to him? I would want to know if I am starting to establish bad habits early in my career. Beyond this, I feel you have enough reason to go look for another person to do your piece

I don't mean to laugh, but god I relate. After the shock Of the stencil sank in I took a few sips of Gatorade and boldly proclaimed I am ready. The artist tapped my love handle and said I'm gonna start here and work up. I made a little joke that why wouldn't you start on the worst part first. I have always felt weird trying to convey "my pain" to someone who is like completely suited from neck down. Like oh my back hurts and he's like yea try back of the knees. But Every damn line hurt so bad that all I could do was count to 10 and breathe (in my experience most artists will hit you for a 10 Count between ink reloads). My cousin stopped by the shop around hour 5ish to check on me and he said he couldn't even look at me being finished up I was such a mess. The last 45 minutes I swear I would flinch each time he rested his hand on me. I was told I sat well, I really think that he was being nice lol.

That to me is the appeal of a body suit or extensive tattooing. It is only revealed to a select few. My friends all know, I guess that's my watermark for being comfortable with you.

That's fantastic, and because I'm A shirt and tie guy I get the same. Oh well.

isn't that inherently the point? There is a contempt for the stereotype. I have read about the hatred of the pinterest tattoo pages on this site, and how it is usually a feather, a flock or birds, or upside down script that meets this hate. I think the reaction right now is emotionally charged to the idea that "they" are being painted in such a way, but I don't believe that was the case or intent. who knows maybe my radar is waaaay off this evening EDIT: I also feel its application holds weight (a strong example would be the TYPICAL BMW driver in the long island area for those that live near me)

OK, I think that I can defend this? Please don't hate immediately. I think what is being referred to is not about the women on this board that are enthusiasts among enthusiasts and will search out great artists for remarkable work. He is referring to the people this stereotype/ joke is about. (insert image) It is tough to deny that there is a certain person out there (let's take a man now for example) that can spout off details about his car to the engine code, hair gel by brand and style, jeans by cut and maker, shoe, sunglasses, teeth whitener (lol) etc. but then gets a random house/ garage tattoo of some bad ass thing he saw by a totally talented dude who a sick deal bro. maybe this comparison will help? now i get executed?

You're awful... Lol I still think sausage is better than the names like b tat, tatu baby, or ink bitch... What was this disagreement over again? Lol
-
Yea on a few occasions I've had guys and girls touching my arm at the gym like straight up rubbing it and telling me how much the like it. I was so weirded out I had almost no response other than like a quick thanks as I pulled away. Girls who complain about unwanted attention, yup I now understand lol

Like batman and the court of owls? Lol I liked moluk, he was a bad guy in one of the dexter novels. What's esotric?
-
I'm super confused? Can you elaborate what have you awoken from?
-
I teach inner city New York. You win... Lol I'm aiming to become an administrator asap I already have my second dual masters in school based and school District leadership. My kids will touch my arm and get confused trying to figure out how it's on there. It's too funny to me but it's also innocent. The only time a tattoo would become an issue is if it was offensive or on the face/throat/hands I think (the obvious spots that are frowned upon most ) I get looks until people get to know me usually and as far as I'm concerned we can't teach kids how to be individuals if we all look and act the same. Now the weirdos at the gym that try to touch my tattoos... Well I just wished the stared

Honestly I go towards the negatives. I know you made a joke but I always go to substance problems or jail. Those are where many find Jesus. I'm curious to know about sausage's bad boy past. I looked him up, his name is Walter. Just call yourself Walter damnit

I define myself as atheist as Richard Dawkins and I don't find myself bothered with that aspect of him. If he starts preaching to a captive audience then........ Yuck. But if we talk sports or cars or something I'm in

Artists who copy tattoos/styles
misterJ replied to Diehardonvhs's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Maybe plagiarism shouldn't be the nature of the beast, and it should be handled more severely. Basic theft of intellectual property? -
I think the overall behavior reflects the integrity. I wouldn't go to Scott (this seasons "favorite") because I think he is a pompous douche that only wants to come off as a tough guy. I personally want to disconnect from the people that get tattoos to become "tougher." But sausage (I hate calling him that) is respectful and while he isn't top In America I could see getting a piece from Someone that conducts themselves with his level of integrity. The person I go to, besides being the fuckin best, is an absolute gentleman and that makes me only want to stick with him more

the hair came out cool, I'm more interested in your super mario sleeve lol. That looks like it came out real nice.

But what about these dudes with 15 years experience? That's not established? Disqualifying talent is like promoting the minor leagues screw that
-
I think you make some very good points. My question is that on the cooking shows these people are often high level dudes. Is this the case here? Only people I've heard of usually go On to win with the exception of jesse smith. Is this the same Situation and the talent pool really is this extreme? Edit: also I think Nunez is mediocre at best, am I missing something that a pro would know about him or his "skill?"
