  1. Wow, I am embarassed I get the name reference so quickly.... THESE ARE SPIRIT FINGERS!! That torso is sick, I love it and want mine to be that good.
  2. Someone else around here stopped at the outline to let it marinate for a while. Color makes everything better!
  3. Very cool painting. I got lost on his instagram for a bit he is very talented. I like the kitsune with the skulls on their head, but the tails that resemble phoenix type feathers in there flow aren't for me. Same with the super skinny ones with rib details. I also like how I see inspirations from dragons in the mouth eyes and overall body flow. I wish there was like a horimouja / horiyoshi book of 100 kitsune.
  4. can i give this thread a healthy bump? Anyone have or know where to find kitsune flash to help solidify an idea. Most of what I have found isn't exactly my taste or very small. I really enjoyed the lore read links, thank you @Tesseracts
  5. http://www.tattoosnob.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/KaneMelbourne.jpg?dc330c I like the line work in this, it's more cross hatch-ish, sticking with the theme of the thread, and it is super cool. My beef with watercolor tattoos is that some of them (besides the typical complaints) are designed very poorly to fit the body. The one linked has a single black line running throughout the arm. God forbid he/she would want anything else on that arm it would have to fit around the single black drip line. http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-04/enhanced/webdr05/20/19/enhanced-7715-1398035435-2.jpg
  6. sourced from tattoosnob Justin Hartman posted this message on his Instagram account and I liked it so much, I thought it was worthy of a reposting When I post new work on Instagram I get a lot of comments from one person tagging another saying things like “get this” or “your next tattoo.” I see so much of my own, and other artist’s custom work taken, and duplicated. Social media has become the most effective way for artists to showcase, and share what they do. We are not putting together a catalog for you to pick out your next tattoo. A custom tattoo should be worn only by the client it was designed for. Period. As for the artists that are perfectly ok tracing screen shots off of Instagram and tattooing them, show some respect and at least change it up and make it your own. If you’re gonna steal from those that spend countless hours coming up with something that’s original, and one of a kind, then go buy some flash.
  7. @ mrtoby your dragon is almost smirking. It is coming out nice so far, got a long ways to go. Are you doing full background?
  8. after the discussion about torso subjects I've been searching around. holy moly... just discovered the eye of atrocity and night parade of dead souls... I've never considered a ghost tattoo before, but some of these are wild. Might at least provide inspiration for the namakubi I want. The page with the warrior ripping the skin off another mans face.... wowzers, that is no joke. I have much to learn
  9. hello all- I wanted to propose something to the LST site members. There is an upcoming charity event that I love called Summer Games Done Quick. A bunch of speed runners get together to beat various video games as fast as possible while raising money for various charities. This year the charity is Doctors without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). I thought it would be cool if we got together and could maybe make a donation as a community. This is something that I have been personally contributing to for a small number of years, but I thought it would be awesome if maybe we could come together and donate to a good cause and maybe spread the word of LST. The first link is a kid from the charity beating super punch out blindfolded which I thought was too awesome. The second link is for the information concerning the event and its schedule of games. The donations usually range from $5 and up. Additionally there are usually fun/ dorky games to entice bidding and prizes. If anyone grew up like me playing these games there is a nostalgia and wonder to watching these people that have utterly mastered them. It is beyond fun, and I would love it if some of us would donate. (please check the links). https://gamesdonequick.com/
  10. I find it funny because I've told the people at the desk on several occasions how they were some Of the most professional and nicest i have encountered... Maybe I'm stupid. But the way people talk to them is shocking
  11. @mmikaoj I'm shocked that with 2 guys working it was only 2 hours. That is a quick outline. I know some of those looooong lines in your piece felt so damn good. It looks really promising, I am excited for your progress. Have fun healing it up

Welcome! What tattoo images are you drawn to? What made you such a fan of tattoos?
  13. Baku was almost my back piece, I changed my mind like a week before the consult. Thanks for the heads up though. Sounds like you have really solid ideas for the torso as of now. Interested to see what shapes Up.
  14. I couldn't agree more. It seems like you have all the major images people get on your body already (I scouted your pics I didn't see the namakubi... Shame I love a good brutal severed head) So torso suggestions? How about a veiled hannya piece , or geisha with the fan revealing The evil mask. I've always liked those and the only other thing I could suggest is a koi? And I'm not feeling it on you as much as the veiled hannya Who knows? Thoughts? Edit: @DevilMan what's a buka? Yurei is ghost if I remember but I don't know the other
  15. Having long session tattoos I get to be a fly on the wall for a lot of walk-ins. It Kills me how many people lead with how they are experts with only a small Wrist flower tattoo then immediately launch into sticker shock outrage. You mean the tattoo is gonna be $150!!!! The whole time I'm thinking how insulted I would be if I was being spoken to in such a way. The guys at the shop handle it with charm and a smile, but I'm sure it's reflected differently on yelp.
  16. With all the talk of fad tattoos. Is there a carryover between the people that get these tattoos (chrome, tribal, watercolor, etc.) then become interested in more than the fad aspect? This is out of my league, but I always think of what people say when you get your first tattoo, that you soon become hooked. Is there any truth to this or does it just stay the fad?
  17. can i add this yelp review of a tattoo shop. I saw this before and googled for it now, thought it was really funny. please read what she says and the details. They are too funny to me. (like the time of her "date") Hands down the worst experience that I have ever had with a human being. Bad all bad every single review here is telling the truth. 1st of all he is a liar, I met him about a year & a half ago on a dating website & he lured me over by telling me he was interested in me & offering to tattoo me as a 1st date.. awww how nice huh? Nope! l get there & it was not in a studio (like he said it was) it was in a room of a home, nothing professional, I should have left then but some of us have to live it to learn it (me) he started a tattoo & could not finish because it was like 3am & I was tired... good way to get me to come back right? Right.... LONG story short... he wrecked my skin & it cost me over $400 to fix it & I am not finished w fixing the art work of Shane, as the 3rd work of art I have been told that its not fixable & will have to be removed or completely covered up to make it right because he dug so hard on the blotched up eyelash area of eyes that he did on me... THANKS!!! I posted pix to show what he can do... THEN the madness that goes along w the mess of ink is priceless!! His unstable explosive entitled pushy attitude is beyond out of control. He harasses & bullies & people should be warned... he didnt even know me like that!!! I should have posted this a long time ago... well actually I did post this a long time ago & he got ahold of me & begged & threatened me to take it down... I just came from hearing that my tattoo cannot be fixed (again) so I am mad all over again!!! STAY AWAY!!!!
  18. Maaaaaan I am jealous of the progress. I wish I could bang sessions like you, but $$. Boo to me
  19. http://www.lionslairtattoo.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Chrome-Tribal.jpg
  20. I just never understood tribal work... Let it come back full force as a trend I'd love to see who gets em I can see monmon cats staying as filler pieces in larger body work. There are a few of em i really love.
  21. For some reason I was thinking about doing a 9 tailed golden/white kitsune with arrows in its mouth full torso piece... I wonder what could have inspired that. What do you mean dangerous thoughts lol:D
  22. @MrToby - I am excited for a new back to watch develop on this thread. simple advice Get a good night sleep and have a nice meal. Bring some snacks to keep your blood sugar up, Gatorade also works well ( i know its a crap drink, but it helps) As a courtesy, have your back shaved beforehand lol, and deodorant helps (I was sweating hard on the last few lines at the end of the session.) Get any healing supplies you would need beforehand. Being in a drugstore bleeding through my sweatshirt at like 10 at night wasn't the most fun. While the line work wasn't my favorite watching your back change so drastically is awesome. It really is a great process, and sneaking glimpses into a mirror as it develops is so encouraging. ENJOY IT. also, Don't listen to @DevilMan. His backpiece is so awesome and worth every bit
  23. 3 of them cooler than I will ever be. Nice photo I love stuff like this.
