2014 Montreal Art Tattoo Convention
idyllsend replied to Graeme's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
I am very jealous of you who are there! Can't wait to see who is getting what and by who! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
If you're even partially seeking a tattoo to attract hotter girls...you've still got a lot of improving to do, kiddo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When I was getting my last tattoo the other artist was working on a chest piece and the guy was having a pretty rough time with it. He borrowed some numbing spray from my artist, but didn't seem super keen on having to use it. Then they did a shot of whiskey. I'm not sure the point of this story, cause I dunno what the spray was called....but maybe your guy already has some on hand? I also found my shin pretty much a breeze. I almost tapped out a few times on my calf and that wasn't even the worst place I've been tattooed. I just couldn't handle the twitching. But yeah, shin was easy as pie. Though he's pretty far south from you, James Tex in Calgary does amazing work. Aaaand I just noticed you said you prefer traditional. His work is definitely not, though still amazing none the less. Derp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crows make for awesome tattoos! I believe someone around here is sporting a crow, or is it a raven? sleeve. Ah, it's @TrixieFaux. Absolutely stunning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a 2nd cousin coming from Italy in a couple weeks. From penpalling with a different Italian cousin 20 years ago, I was given the impression my Italian family is rather conservative. My friends have joked I should take her to get a tattoo to shock the family. Well, turns out, she actually wants to get one while she's here! My grandfather has been rather vocal about mine, and she's staying with him, so I'm sure he'll be pissed, but I don't care, I'm too excited to take a newb for their first piece. I'm thinking of taking her to either The Okey Doke or the Pearl Harbor Gift shop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I really want a gu-mi-ho somewhere on my body. It's the Korean version of the kitsune, the folklore is just a bit different. I believe a gu-mi-ho is a fox that lives a 1000 years then gains the ability to transform into a woman. She then seduces men to eat their livers/hearts. Being the man-hating feminist that I am, that's pretty rad. Joking of course..kinda :). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh man, I scratched my 1 day old tattoo today. I work in a chocolate factory, and often have scratches and bruises from working, but I've been pretty lucky and hadn't injured any fresh tattoos...until today. A layer of skin came off, just a small bit, but I think it'll require touch ups :(. Good thing I plan on going back to Franz in a month or two! -
Cat tattoos make me happy. One day I'll get likenesses of my guys done, probably dressed up all dapper like. Artist is Sherlane White. (Skin not mine)
-
Here it is. Franz is an awesome dude and he doesn't mess around! Done in an hour! Super happy another gap is filled.

Plainskins say the darndest things...
idyllsend replied to TrixieFaux's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Yeah, seriously! He wasn't hostile, was more like pleading with me, but I snapped at him "because I like it!" I was hot and on a mission to find water. I'm about 2 mins away from getting tattooed by him. Excited! -
Not at all! It is perfectly normal to request a specific artist. Usually a call ahead to book a consult with them is how it's done.

Some rando on Bathurst St just said to me in passing, "why? Why did you do that to yourself?." -
I got in! Getting a wolf crawling down my leg in a few hours.
-
Standing outside The Okey Doke right now. 4 people ahead of me and only Franz is working soooo... I dunno if I'll get in :(.

http://www.twotrollstattoo.ca Pretty much everything at the only shop in my town. When I moved back after 8 years, I was surprised and excited to see a shop had opened up here....then I looked up their website. Excitement crushed.

I think most of us are just professional tattoo enthusiasts, with a few stellar professional artists kicking around. We show off our latest work and talk about upcoming pieces. So share away!
-
Yeah they are! I'm super excited Kyle and Mike opened up shop here in Hamilton. I think I'll make it there for 1045 then, just to be on the safe side. Yep, saw the IG post about their move - hopefully I can find cheap parking close by.
-
I think I'll be heading down to The Okey Doke in Toronto next Sunday to get a snake n dagger walk-in with Franz. Just gotta figure out how early I should get there to make sure I get in with him.

August 2014 Tattoo of the Month Contest
idyllsend replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
Thanks!! She chose to submit this for the tattoo of day contest at the con, and even though the attention was on the tattoo, not me, I felt like I was either going to fall down or throw up the few mins I was on stage showing it off to the judges. Mass attention from people I don't know? The worst! -

Welcome! You shall receive no judgement from me. The first piece I am truly proud of is Harry potter influenced :). It's the Doe by Lizzie Renaud in my gallery.

A Newfie tattooer, cooool. I also knew nothing of tattoos east of Quebec.
