Brought a drawing to Sacred Tattoo today with plans for getting a walk-in, after meeting the shop owner a week or so back. Niño was kind enough to redraw my doodle an this is what we came up with. I have some scars that have been tattooed over. If they're more than a year old, they shouldn't be any trouble for a tattooer to go over. Still have to get my leg surgery scar blasted over!

Caught this Lyle Tuttle jawn on a homeless guy in downtown Palo Alto.

I've been listening to GDP for a year and a half. Useless Eaters was in my top 5 albums last year. Found out a week or two ago that a fellow LSTer made a bunch of shirts for him. Small world, getting smaller. I'll leave it up to said LSTer to publicly voice his input.

I have heard it said, during a session, that when you go to a legend, you are going for their experience. You can only get an Eddy Deutsche tattoo from Eddy Deutsche. That being said, I have been tattooed by some lesser known tattooers and legends as well. I'm very fond of my Scott Sylvia tattoo. It's both technically perfect and soulful. As far as newbies being libelous, you have to learn to follow the rules, so you can break them correctly. @hogg , what are you getting from @cltattooing ?!

LST has never steered me wrong with advice. Does anyone know about tattooers in the Philippines? Looking for Americana or Japanese one shots. My grandpa lives there, so I may be traveling there this winter to visit my ancestors' Mecca. I know there's an old witch of a lady who tattoos in the local style, but I think it's far fetched to think that I'll get something from her. Thanks in advance, LST.

Seriously, what is it about tattoos that turns people into idiots? Just because there's ink in your bleeding, scabbing, painful, open injury, now that suddenly makes it okay to go into a swimming pool.

When I was at the Joel Long show at Atak Gallery, they had shirts for sale that said: Tattoo(er) "A Real Artist Doesn't Need Validation" or something along those lines. I generally use the term tattooer, but I think there are certain people in the business who make more artful tattoos than others. Not to say craft tattoos are any worse or better.

I'm assuming that coolie means Viet Kong. If I'm wrong, correct me, but I think it is because it was a popular, patriotic thing to do in the 40s and 50s, with the war and all. Not to say that I am for getting a dead kong tattoo, because I think it's highly offensive. I think the image is completely out of place in today's tattoo vocabulary.

Speaking entirely from personal experience, this thread is the reason I don't come back here anymore. I put some personal problems out on the internet, and some people got involved who I don't even know, or care all that much about. Now, every time I come back here, even when I'm just reading threads, I feel like I'm being looked at with sorrowful eyes and weirdly motherly affection from people I have met maybe once or twice or four times or not at all. Don't be too trusting of people on the internet, kids.

@Colored Guy @El Domago said it best. It only slows. Thanks for being an awesome dude. Edit: I've been drinking lately. Nothing intense or over the edge. Just drinking with people who I call family. NA was something that I tried out, and it very nearly made sense, but I just can't get down with the whole higher power thing. I appreciate all the support from LSTers over the past couple weeks. This is just one of those things that is too personal to say in words, let alone on the internet. I wish all those who are dealing with alcohol and drug troubles the best. I've just found a different path, I suppose.
