  1. Love El Monga's work, and that one in particular. @real meta
  2. Absolutely stunning! Thanks for posting. The bird in the Namakubi Hair Completes the Nest painting is so menacing. Also love all the iPhones and modern gadgets.
  3. @littlecreatures The human body can do some amazing things when it isn't taking in poisons like alcohol. Try running, maybe? It's helped me a lot in the past, and I find that I can return to it with new eyes each time, and each time it gets a little easier to start, and a little easier to get better. Now, if I could only find a way to keep running...
  4. You have to figure out what part of your fear is your own nerves about getting tattooed in the first place, and what part is about the outcome of the design. Generally, as CABS said, you have to pick your artist wisely. As for the friends and tattooers topic, I am the furthest thing from your typical cool person, but I do have limited tattoo knowledge that I like to talk about with others, seeing as I rarely get the opportunity in real life. Meeting LSTers changed some of that, but still, I have a life outside of tattoo collecting that I wouldn't expect most to care about.
  5. Getting tattooed on Sunday by none other than @cltattooing . A Santa Muerte on my shin. Planning on a few hours, but might just get the outline and some shading in before tapping out.
  6. Likewise on the travel tattoos. I have two flash based tattoos on my right arm. One is from a Chicago tattooer at the SFO convention, one was done in New York. Planning on going to a few more places a few years down the road.

    Hi!

Welcome to the forum, @Lyndsay . Also, I would like to second Graeme's post.
  8. It was a super rad show. When they played An Offering of Grief, I was floored. The energy in the room was intense. Looking to go to any other doom shows that I can.
  9. If I went to a tattoo shop and heard Mumford and Sons, I would be pretty upset. If I went to get a haircut from my sister and heard Metallica, I'd also be upset.
  10. I just got my haircut by my little sister, who is just about to graduate from cosmetology school. While her bad decisions in tattoo taste are, well, bad, she gives a decent haircut. I guess that's pretty cool. Also, I went to a Pallbearer show for metal homework.
  11. I see a lot of people coming to LST with the same problems over and over. I'd just like to point out that there's a search function on the forum, and that people should use it.
  12. My bad. I should have said, "Read the forum." But, yes, you are right. No need to follow tradition in tattoo culture. It's good that you're doing your own research. I was simply making a suggestion which I have made plenty of times before. Also, this advice isn't coming directly from me. It comes from tattooers.
  13. To answer the last few posts, look through the thread, and you'll find that a lot of people don't trust all the tattoo-specific aftercare products. There are plenty of products that have been created for skincare that work really really well and have been used for ages, including scent-free lotion and Bepanthen, which are the only two that I would really use.
  14. I would suggest the walk-in. I enjoyed my experience at Smith Street, choosing a design on the spot. It actually led to a funny story. Bert asked me if I wanted to have it say LIBERTY or NYC in the banner, and I said NYC. The design is a Jonesy Lady Liberty. Anyway, I decided on it saying NYC, since I was on vacation and wanted a memorial. The next day, I got to Bailey's studio, and was showing him the tattoo, and he says, "That's a really cool tattoo; funny though, says NYC on a statue that is owned by New Jersey." I just laughed it off awkwardly, but I like thinking about the story now.
  15. @Hospitelli That is one killer rose morph! Also, your calves look like you cycle/run. Is that the case?
  16. Even in flea markets and thrift stores, I find myself paying the asking price, since it's usually so low. I think I paid 5 dollars for two books and a pin the last time I went to a thrift store. I understand that people would haggle at those places though.
  17. I'm no tattooer, but it boggles my mind to see people haggle over prices. I wouldn't even haggle in say a marketplace.
  18. Found this guy through Bailey Hunter Robinson's blog a few years ago.
  19. I think this might help: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-after-care/3501-help-theres-tattoo-my-pimple.html
