Well I know a few of you are planning to come to Japan pretty soon, maybe not just for the convention but during. Here is the link to this years page. the guys at Tokyo hardcore are still announcing people attending. KING OF TATTOO 2012

Very nice and agreed, negative space helps the tattoo.

I do think I got my first tattoo when I was 21, now I'm currently 25. If I would have gotten my first idea of a tattoo it would have been two slipknot "S" one on each of my calfs.... that would be when I was like 15, and although I can see it's a stupid tattoo now it's what I wanted at the time. So if I had it done I know I would have liked it and lived with it. - - - Updated - - - I do think I got my first tattoo when I was 21, now I'm currently 25. Well it's good to see another thread that could have had potential get side tracked..... But to stay on topic of the super cool fabulous new tattoo tread that everyone is going to have soon do I have to remind people of a particular slayer back piece, and the nightmares that came with upon seeing it. And Ursula, although I don't know what the sea-witches name was the original little mermaid Ballet is from 1837.

@Lochlan I figured I was going to end up playing the waiting game. Maybe I'll show some before and after pics, not to keen on putting my tattoos out on the internet. but now I know if I'm planning a night of hard drinking, knee pads.... Like if I ever find myself in Oakland with D, hella gonna wear some pads.

Has anyone ever skinned their knee after it's healed? Went out drinking on the 1st, had to much and ended up tripping. Now I'm just waiting to see what type of damage I did. Still has a thick scab on it thought, but can see the gray wash under it.

@hogg well the only reason for wishing that I started my back first is because I would have liked to have gone bigger with my back. It's fine now and I like it, but thinking how it would look if it was bigger makes me wonder. @writerAZ Not really, I'm doing tebori and it seems to heal faster then machine.

@hogg donburi, and when this site launched was just about the time I was starting. So far I have 1XX hours but I stopped keeping track, one full leg done and a backpiece that was started last autumn. I screwed up though with choosing to do a leg first, but at the time I wasn't sure if I wanted a suit our not. So I started out with the intention of squid pants and changed my mind along the way....... But now I wish I would have started with my back.

Yeah, I hit walls all the time. It really is just how Hogg says. Seems like the first half is easy then we take a break and then my body just loses it, time goes by so slowly and it just gets more and more painful. Always just suck it up and stick though it. I usually get tattooed for 3 months every week then a month off. Ice had a 2 month break right now, but I'm starting again this Sunday.. Looking forward to it.

I would say don't let the thought of the pain stop you from getting the tattoo how you want it. Overall the spots that suck the most are small enough that your not sitting there day after day in agony. It's to late now but if I could do it over again, I'd get my back piece down to mid-thigh or the back of my knees.
-
Yeah the cheek meets thigh it's the worst of it, sharp very sharp. If it's from foot to ass then you're also going to be going over the back of your knee? That's also not to fun.

I've also been wondering this, I mostly lurk lst on my phone so it would save me time if we could get the right side panel back, latest posts, blog, threads, pictures. Thanks. -
I would like to be able to call my tattooer a friend. I always try to be respectful when it comes to tardiness, if I'm late apologize but for the most part I'm there 5 minutes early. Never canceled, always bring cash. I've only shown up one time after having a beer but far from drunk. Sometimes we go out after finishing and get something to eat or drink. always have to fight over who pays but in the end I'm always treated. So I would like to say he's my friend, but that's not going to stop me from giving him the respect he deserves as a tattooer and a human being. It's going to be weird when I finish my body suit and an not there every Sunday and I'm going to call him to see if he wants to go out. My schedule is pretty busy but Sunday isn't that's busy of a day to get tattooed here in Japan. So I'm almost always having 6pm on Sundays, if he calls me and says someone is late or he needs to move me to a later time it's fine. I'm always to afraid to ask him if it's alright if I just come in and watch him work. But tebori is a bit different, more one on one. Maybe one of these days I'll grow some balls and ask if I can watch.

For all but one tattoo I've never wrapped my tattoos. The one I have was in my foot and it was recommended by the tattooer to wrap it for the first 3 days. It got so sweaty that I took of the wrap every few hours and patted all the sweat off, then rewrapped it.
