How did you decide to cover yourself?
CaptCanada replied to cfgsteak's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
My thinking would be similar to eveyone that has posted before me. I would like to be tattooed by a ever changing list that I have in my head. I respect these tattooers for the work they put out, to me the image they tattoo on me isn't has important as the quality of it. But like the exerpt that Petri quoted, death is something I don't really want to touch on. First impressions are important, and if you have someone being decapated on your forearm... well that's something hard to get past. But I have been debating with myself over to do a full traditional Japanese body suit or to stop after what I have planned. Doing the suit would leave me with only a few areas that I could/would tattoo by other artists. Which would make those tattoos that much more special and push me to go to the tattooers I respect the most, no matter the distance/wait. Or just stopping and allowing me to get larger tattoos by more artists with my now saved skin. When I do go to other artists though I would love to just say to them "I love the tattoos you do. I would like to set up an appointment. But I want to get something that you have been wanting to try to do" or something like that. Let them pick what to tattoo on that particular spot, to get their creative jucies flowing for what shape and flow it will have. -
Question for artists or anyone about tattoo etiquette
CaptCanada replied to mask0311's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
Well the dude hasn't signed on for the past two weeks. So it could be that either he A: busy or B: just stopped coming here. Good chance either/or are right, he only came to LST for this thread. -
I'm gonna have to second or third Laphroaig, I like Islay whiskys the most. The 10 year is good, but I've also tried to quarter cask and that stuff was delicious. First time I bought it, I ended up finishing the bottle that night, very sauced. If I wanna change it up a little bit then I go for Glen Elgin, or if its just to wet my lips Black Label.

Maybe, or just a alcohol thread in general.

By fingertips are you all meaning the last third of your fingers or very tippity tip of your fingertips? -
Well bigjoe I'm not a female but I do enjoy long walks on the beach at night. So if you fancy a slightly outashape, some what short, unmotivated half breed that will cough up a lung if he trys to run to much... Then I'm you man ;) but don't expect to get my cookies, momma taught me better then that.

Sure I'll give it a go. My name is Kye and I'm now 24. Born is Arizona and lived there till I was 15, I moved all around the valley during those years. After that moved to Sacramento until I finished HS. Came to Japan the day after graduation, mostly as a "fuck it, I'm young. Do something stupid" moment. Yet I'm still here, and now manage a club. When I lived in the states I really loved cars, BMW e30 were my favorite. Still want to get back into one, just no chance of driving over here... Don't really know what else to add.

You made me happy then sad with that single post. Was hoping there was a restaurant that only served pie (sweet) and they were very serious about it, but alas they talking about a pizza pie.

Arg, Japans thinking about medicine is sometimes stuck in the stone age. Went to the pharmacy at japans version of walmart and they said that because the pharmacist wasn't there I couldn't get anti-inflammatorys. So I'm stuck with my leg being lame until tomorrow.
-
Thank you Valerie, and Stewart. I'll start taking some anti-inflammatory and continue to go about my routine. Yeah, that feeling isn't the nicest in the world.
-
Before I start, I'll say that I don't want to try to treat this forum as a place to get medical advice (but if there is something that is wrong feel free to open my eyes to it), just wondering if this has happened to others and to connect the dots. Okay I have now moved below my knee for my squid pants, and it seems every week (weekly sessions) my leg will swell up, my ankles getting the worst of it. If the area thats tattooed is near my ankles it will turn red. I've talked with my tattooer about it, and both him and I assume its just from having to stand for 13 hours a day. Healing is a wee bit slower and the scabs are thicker then when it was my thigh. While I'm sleeping I've been keeping my leg elevated, and it helps take some of the swelling down, until I get back to work the next day. So my question is, how has been the healing period for you guys/girls that have had their calf/shins done?

Above the collar and the genitals. I plan to at some point get everything else done. -
Firstly great news, and I hope it all works out with you. Just make sure he gets enough exercise everyday or he will start driving you nuts. Had a german shorthair pointer when I was a kid, didn't get to run around enough and became more then an handful. Secondly, why do you feel the need to dress him in clothes?

Tim Hendricks and Stewart Robson are right, publicity no matter in what form helps shows. Its a hard pill to swallow, but ignoring this show could be the best course of action. Say for an example if Tim does say something, many more will watch the show. Cause we respect Mr. Hendricks, we know his a great tattooer and a stand up guy.... but the average fan of NY Ink doesn't hold him in such regard. So when they see that his pissed off at this show, they are going to want to check it out, not listen to him how we would. A good example of this, I wanted to find out the ratings for NY Ink, and saw a show called "swamp people." Now I don't live in America and I don't get your channels over here, but I want to see what type of stupid show this is just by that title and the cue card it had. Maybe if I watch it I'll think its dumb or I could find it somewhat interesting, I don't know. These shows are now marketing crack though TV.
-
No, you don't need to tell them anything. If they truly want to learn they can go about it the same way you did. Information isn't free, and I'm with gouge telling them to fuck off. This world is now to politically correct and everyone having to be equal.
-
The most simple solution is sometimes the quickest, but now only if we could get the rest of America to do the same.

Want to get your next American Traditional tattoo on the new show "Inkmaster"?
CaptCanada commented on Inkmaster's blog entry in Blog Inkmaster
You would think he could get a better email then @gmail.com.... and bring back Tattoo Wars, don't change a thing about, and everyone free cookies. -
I heard you going by the name of Crusty Squid Pants one night, what gives? Was it just that one night in Tijuana?
-
Check out the artists blog, they will usually list the best way to contact them. And while your on their blog, check out their schedule. Maybe they aren't taking any new clients until they finish what they have.

Great tattooers are great tattooers, it doesn't matter if you are willing to travel, or are able to be tattooed by them. Dan Higgs and Sailor Jerry have both influenced the world of tattooing but, no body has a chance to get a tattoo from them. That still doesn't mean you cant respect them.
