Fucking hangovers, I remember the good ol' days when I could drink and wake up drunk but with no ill effects. Not now though, I want to crawl back to bed and just sleep, but alas I can't. Must rough it out and be at work.

Upon talking with my wife about me getting heavily covered, she says she will divorce me. I told her okay, get the papers I'll sign them. We'll just have to wait and see what happens when that becomes an issue, her areas she does not want covered in tattoos is arms, chest and stomach. Already have plans for legs and back so she is trying to pick her battles.

Yeah, on a canvas it would look better, but as a tattoo meh.

Anyone care to brainstorm some ideas?

Splendid, lets retire this evening with a bit of the old giggle juice. -

Didn't anyone teach you to share, if your going to draw it for her then you have to draw one for all of us. -
I've talked a little about this to my tattooer, and he was also kind enough to lend me a book Danish Tattooing by Jon Nordstrom. Which has a narration by tattoo jack in 1971 that says "The best skin for tattooing, that would be the Icelanders. Scandiavians are good, but the Icelanders are particularly fine, they're a rare breed. I don't belive that any doctoral dissertations have been written on skin, but there are differences between the nations' skins all the same. On an Icelander, the lines come out strong and good, while on a Negro - whose skin is silky soft - they come out so thin that you can barely see them. You cannot tattoo on a finer man than a redhead. Dark people are not so good, and neither is a blue-collar man, someone who really works. Some one whose skin is coarse. The less the sun has shone on the skin, the better - like on a died-in-the-wool clerk for instance." Bunshin Horitoshi thinks that the daily diet is what changes your skin. Eating rice everyday will change your skin from eating bread grains everyday. He says rice creates a better skin. So we all know that sun soaked skin makes skin more leather like, but what have you found as the best skin? Is it the nationality, the diet, night shift vs day shift workers, job type?

I'd recommend against that. When not used to shaving that area on the leg it's very easy to put little nicks in it. Cuts (shallow or not) are bad thing for the area to get tattooed.

It's a hard spot to be in, and while I'm no where near covered. I still think like that, but at the end of the day when you have tattooed all the spots your willing to tattoo it will be a nice feeling to just say "Well it's finished, no more pain, no more swelling,...." and look in the mirror and bask. After that comes envy that you can't get any new tattoos and start thinking about that second coat of paint ;). Think it's always a grass is greener on the other side type of thing. If you truly were tired of getting tattooed but wanted the suit look, you wouldn't care you would stop. But people that are still getting tattooed look at all the suited people and visa versa wishing to trade places.

That's the great thing about out here. Even the big one we had on 3/11 I was sleeping when it started. Woke up noticed things were shaking a little bit, thought to myself "ohh it's just a earthquake, it will end soon" but it kept going and seem'd to be getting stronger. Got up put on some pants and looked outside. Every tree looked like king kong was shaking them, opened my window and thought okay this is a big quake if this building starts falling I'm jumping outside. My apartment is only 3 stories and I live on the first floor, but you really couldn't feel the earthquake. You all on the other hand are fucked if a stronger earthquake happens.

The surfing Bowser with shades, a double neck guitar, and script of "let's party" doesn't sound that bad.... tacky yes, but bad tattoo no.

For me, the outline for my knee (cap) felt like someone was cutting it open, the shading wasn't that bad. Areas surrounding the knee the shading was a bit uncomfortable, just couldn't relax. Overall not that bad, and nothing like what people say that scares you away from it.

I know that the east coast isn't built for earthquakes, but common its only a 5.8, thats like the bread and butter out here (check we get them that strong daily)..... That being said the key thing is that it had a depth of 6 km, that is very close. If you remember the Christchurch earthquake in February that had a depth of 5 km. Okay enough of my joking around, you guys probably have to all your knickknacks back in order.

It's kinda something like that. Nobody sits you down and explains a 90 chapter book about what tattooing is all about. Its just something clicks in your head, and once it does... you can't turn it off. It needs to be fed, and its a long winding rabbit tunnel. By all means though stick around and lurk.

I suggest reading link that other users have pointed out to you. But what concerns me are those two statements. Why do you want to be a tattoo artist if you hold the body sacred, because if you do become a tattoo artist, you'll be fucking up a lot of peoples body with tattoos. And in what way did the tattoo artist screw up the design that you drew, did he not draw it exactly like you did, or did he change? Did he say do a lousy to mediocre tattoo or did he do a good tattoo that was just not your drawing?

Sure if that's what you want to call it...

People are posting their new tattoo pictures on reddit? That just seems like a complicated situation waiting to happen.

Pre: Make it a point to drink extra water for the few days prior to getting a tattoo. Day of tattoo make sure I eat something sugary morning of, go to sleep, wake up, eat a bento 2 hours before. (seems funny reading but, 9 AM go to sleep 4 PM wake up, if that helps) Post: Don't really have any rituals. Try to go home, take a shower 2 hours after... but after that nothing. Worst post tattoo night I had was spending all night waiting for a friend in the ER after having my knee shaded.

Common mistake if you find something to spicy don't drink water. You need a base, so milk works wonders. Water will just make it seem hotter.
