@nmkcle I with you on 100% on taking pills etc. I've had numbing agent (lidociane) applied during a tattoo by the tattooer. Thats ok though, they know best. With or without. A beer afterwards is always great.

Reminds me of something that happened to me last year. I'd been to the London Tattoo Convention and on our way back to the train station thought I'd pop into a pub for a couple of pints. Anyway my wife walked in before me and as I went to walk in a doorman stepped in front of me and said I couldn't come in. I called out my wife and said I'm not allowed in. My wife then said to the doorman that she has a long sleeved shirt I could put on. Realising I was with a female partner the doorman then said "Its ok pal you can go in". The doorman had me down as an undesirable due to my appearance and the fact I was a single male. Did I make a big fuss. No. This was mainly down to the fact that this gorilla was twice my size, half my age and would have kicked the shit out of me.

All my Jeffersons Reserve is gone. Just ordered a bottle of this shit.

The first time I drank whiskey I was about 15. It was Christmas eve my parents were at a party and I was at my house with my new girlfriend and her friend. I thought I would impress them by drinking half a bottle of VAT 69, straight down in one go. Half an hour later I was completely off my head and had to be put to bed. A while later I woke up feeling pretty bad. I puked into a bowl that had been left by the bed and then tipped it all over me. I just went back to sleep and when I woke up my hair was all matted with dried puke. My hair looked like one of those guys from "Flock of Seagulls". I never touched a drop of Scotch for about 10 years after that.

Thanks for that. Looks good. I'll be booking the flight & hotel package as a City break two weeks before the tattoo. I can get the flight + three nights at a decent hotel for round £800 ($1267) which I think is very reasonable.

My first tattoo was done when I was 15. A tattooer called Steve, as far as I can remember, in Bath. My first visit to the shop was with a couple of pals. I went first, I think we all decided on a swallow on the forearm. Anyway I had a bit of a rash on my forearm. The tattooer asked me about the rash. I said it was probably a sun rash. He said ok come back when it's gone. So my first visit ended in bitter disappointment. The next in the chair was my mate Pete. He always fancied himself as a bit of a tough guy, but he was looking very nervous. So the tattooer started the tattoo. He did the outline on this tiny tattoo and was about to start on the colour when my mate said " you don't have to colour it in do you". The tattooer, looking rather puzzled said "no not if you don’t want me to". We really took the piss out him on the train on the way home. What a pussy. I went back a few weeks later with two pals and we all had the same deaths head tattoo on our forearm. Ones now dead the other had his covered. So mines the only one left. That was 41 years ago and I still love that tattoo. So much so that I booked Alex Binnie to recreate the tattoo on my upper leg on April 13th.
