Panther head tattooed on the back of my upper arm by Nick Colella on Saturday.
-
Thats spot on Ursula. It wont be properly healed for several weeks. But its well on the way. All scabbing has gone just a little dry skin.
-
Here is a pic of my arm ditch tattoo done by Mario Desa on the 11th September. All nicely healed in 12 days. Same healing regime usual wash twice daily. Dab with paper towel and let air dry for 20 minutes before a very thin application of Aquaphor. For the first week I applied a lightwieght Tubinette tubular bandage. It's very thin and allows plenty of air to the fresh tattoo and keeps other parts of the arm and sweat away from the tattoo. All you have to remember, when changing the bandage, is to soak it for a few minutes during the the first few days. I also live with 5 cats. So its keeps cat hairs away from the fresh tattoo. Believe me cats hairs get everywhere.

This lovely rose and cut throat razor by Mario Desa, in the ditch of my arm. And these little buggers on my thumbs by Stefano C. And a waffle with a scoop each of banana and pistachio ice cream at Amorino before.

He's not a prison tattooer. The person getting the tattoo is not a con. Prison tattooers do not have the luxury of wandering around shops or finding disgarded VCRs, when gathering parts to build their machines. It's tattooed in a park. I assume Scott Cambell is not using prison type pigment. It dosn't look like a prison tattoo. But it does look like a load of pretentious tosh. Watching a tattooing sequence from the "The Mark of Cain" is far more interesting.

Or this by Noon. I just don't get why would someone want this sort of thing tattooed on them.

Valerie Vargas tweeted a photo of Miles with an ice cream cone from Amorino. I'll definately be checking them out a week on Sunday. Amorino

Special wood, made from bears.

Thanks Wedge. That must have been an amazing tour. We are very restricted in the UK and with handguns in particular. Although we can own long barrel revolvers and long barrel semi auto .22LR. The requirement is that the overall length must be no less that 24". Although we can own muzzle loading pistols revolvers on a firearms certificate. The beauty of these rifles is that anyone can own one of these on under section 58 of our Firearms Act.

Thanks Jaycel glad you like it. This gun would have been in service with the Nepalese Army circa 1870. It was almost certainly made in Nepal under licence from Snider so it is a solid well made gun. This was part of a massive cache of arms and other military equipment found in a Nepalese palace in 2003. The discovery of these arms is a fascinating tale. The wood was restored by stripping off most of the old dirt and oil. A layer of preservative was put on and then some beeswax. I filled the wormholes and damage to the stock with a special coloured wax used for wood restoration. I didn't go right back to the bear wood as I didn't want it to look like a new rifle. I used a rust remover to get rid of some surface rust on the barrel bands and barrel band retaining pins. (the bands that hold the wooden fore stock together). A special metal liquid cleaner used for antique restoration was used on the barrel/lock. I really enjoyed taking it apart and cleaning it. Its amazing how much you can learn about how something works and gain an appreciation for the craft and skill that went into making something by stripping it down to its component parts.

I've just got around to re-assembling my .577 snider that I finished restoring earlier in the year. I imported it from IMA in the USA. The rifle had been in storage for over 100 years so it was a bit mucky with some superficial rust and the buttstock was full of woodworm holes. Its my first restoration and I'm quite pleased with the gun as it still has that old antique look even though its been cleaned up. BEFORE AFTER

I think generally its ok. However when I see genuine Sailor Jerry flash being touted for several thousand dollars I'm not so sure I like the idea of that.

If you are getting the tube to Leicester Square Fiori Corner is pretty good. Exit the station via the China Town exit and turn right. It's about a minute walk. Frith Street is about 5-7 minute walk. They get a very good rating on the London Eating site. Fiori Corner London - Italian Restaurant Review and Information

At 55 I feel I am running out of time rather than running out of skin. I've got plans for next year but no further than that. If the grim reaper comes a callin it wouldn't do to have an incomplete piece.

My wife tried to get booked in with Lina Stigson at the London Tattoo Convension. Unfortunately she was all booked up. Never mind perhaps a trip to Amsterdam in 2011.
