Neo traditional artist recommendations!!
omeletta replied to falco4758's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Hm, I would have called it neo traditional, although some parts are admittedly quite realistic. Anyway, a few more in UK/Europe (maybe keep an eye on them in case they travel?) Instagram Matt Adamson Sneaky Mitch Marco Schmidgunst Anthony Cole Lauren Jayne Gow KidKros A bit more your way perhaps (sorry, if they are super far from where you are...from my point of view, they are roughly your direction ;-)): Rose Hardy (NYC) Eckel (just re-located to Vancouver) Enjoy! -
My mum came over to stay for christmas and I'm not good a keeping secrets from her (and there barely is a reason anyway). I didn't want her to 'accidently' find out about my first tattoo, so I thought it better to tell her about it. After having read about so many rather negative reactions on here, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was sure she wouldn't be super angry with me, but major disappointment would have been a possibility. So, the two of us had an evening out and the conversation went something like this: Me: Mum, I actually bought something with the money you gave me for my birthday. Her: Oh good, what is it, something nice? Me: Well, I do think so, but I'm not sure you'll like it... Her: It's your money and you can do with it whatever you like. What is it then? ...[her being really curious now and trying to guess]...a gun?!? [We're German, so this would have been very unusual and rather unpopular. And yet, I found it rather odd that this was the first thing that came to her mind.] Me : Hell no! Her: [Comes up with another totally weird guess which I can't even remember] Me: No, nothing like that....I got tattooed.... Her: Ah...I see...what is it? And where? Can I see it? Me: I got a lynx head and some flowers on my thigh. [And no, I couldn't show it as we were in a public space.] Her: Does it have a special meaning? Me: Not really, I just fancied it. Her: So it's more like decoration? Me: Yes! Her: Fair enough....Are you gonna wear hot pants in summer? Me: Err....what? No, I wasn't planning to. I'm not a teenager anymore... Her: What about a swimsuit, will it be visible then? Me: Well, it would be, but you know I don't really go swimming very often. Her: So it's pretty much always hidden?!? Can I see it later? ... At the end the of the day, the hardest thing to understand for her seemed to be, that I wasn't planning to show off the tattoo as such. Phew. Could have been worse. When I later mentioned that I was indeed thinking about getting another tattoo, this seemed to stretch it somewhat though. I guess little bits of information from time to time will be a better approach in this case... ;-)

Well, hadn't even thought of running with other people so far. I'll be super glad if I just manage to somehow survive the last run of the programme, which should be 5k....although, I think there is a weekly 5k in my local park...hm... - - - Updated - - - Wow, that's so random to meet you on LST! Cool, I now know that Runner Six has awesome tattoos, so it'll be even more fun to run with 'you' ;-)
-
Nowhere near any of you with running, but as mentioned earlier I picked up running on a whim after reading about the C25K programme on here...swapped to zombies run 5k in the meantime as that's a bit more fun to listen to, but rather proud to say I'm still on it! I decided that I'll reward myself with kicking off the next tattoo once I've done my first 5k run....makes a rather good incentive I noticed, haha! Just completed week 6, so not too long to go anymore I hope...

Tattoo Fan and Publisher of Badass Digital Tattoo Magazine

Another Android user here :-( Looks like a cool idea though. Keep us posted on the magazine as well as your own tattoo projects if you like! -
Spaceships, skulls and spiders, maybe. Definitely spaceships, there should be more girls with spaceship tattoos! Anyway, welcome :-) Are you looking for ideas for yourself? Anything to show yet? We're always curious here...

Wow, that's fantastic! I bet the fish get confused when you go diving and they see your back [emoji6]

Fair enough, just thought you might enjoy the thread. I get where you're coming from though. I don't know anything about lasering, but I believe there is an expert on this forum, too. Have you seen this? http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-removal-coverup/5949-have-questions-about-laser-tattoo-removal-ask-thread.html

Hey welcome. As you don't seem to be sure yet what you're after, I'll throw in a few new traditional artists that do nice colourful creatures I think: Joe Frost Tiny Miss Becca Matt Adamson Neil Dransfield Mitchell Allenden None of them in Scotland I'm afraid, but all UK. As you're from the US I figured the distance might not be an issue for you?? Anyway, take your time and enjoy the research!

I kinda noticed that I seem to predominantly like female artists, although I'm not actually looking for it as such. High on my list at the moment are Claudia de Sabe, Wendy Pham and especially Emily Rose Murray. The first two are within reach for me, but Australia is sooo far away, damn it...

That's a good point. Happened to me once as well when I ordered T-Shirts from the US. It's been so long ago that I forgot about it though. Oh well, as long as they didn't get lost.

Not sure I understand why exactly you want to open a tattoo shop when you're not into tattoos??? Why not open a candy shop or sell car parts or whatever it is you're into, you must have some hobbies or interests, too? Sure, there may be tattoo artists out there who could do with help from someone with business skills, but they'd probably be better off with someone who has both, business skills and a passion for tattoos...which almost certainly exists. Well, good luck anyway...

Tegaderm/Saniderm/Tatuderm healing process
omeletta replied to Bigboy67's topic in Tattoo After Care
@outrenthome From what I read here, people leave it on 2-6 days. I think I left mine on for four or five days because I felt like the tegaderm was protecting the area quite well and allowed me to almost forget about the tattoo. Doing so seemed perfectly fine. As others said, no lotion under or on top of the derm. You'll need the lotion once you've taken the derm off. I'm no expert, but I'd say whenever it feels like it needs it, a couple of times a day. Just remember, thin layer of lotion only. -
Has anyone ordered prints to the UK before? How long did it take? Been waiting for almost three weeks...I want them...now! Just getting a bit impatient I suppose...

Clear case of APOLOGY FAIL. I'm afraid it seems like your level of maturity matches that of your lady friends.

Gosh...Barbie...!?! I will give you the benefit of doubt and assume this was meant to be a compliment... but just so you know, most women have no interest whatsoever in looking even remotely like a stupid doll.

Just managed to sit through my first tattoo, finally, yay! Done by Anthony Cole at Silver Needles in Southend. Very happy with my choice. Thanks so much to everyone on this forum for helping to create such a great resource, I learnt a lot here.

I blame you for posting this...I got curious, had a look at the link and decided pretty spontaneously to give it a try. Never ran in my life (except in primary school I think) and always thought I'd hate it. But I need to get fit and this sounded doable. So I downloaded the C25k app, bought some shoes and off I went for my first ever run yesterday! I must be going crazy, because I'm actually looking forward to the next one tomorrow now... :-)

I like this one by Lauren Jayne Gow:

Haha, no offense, but this made me laugh somehow...and also made me realise how narrow my own horizon is actually. I don't think I've ever met someone who said they hadn't heard of Majorca before. But then, I'm from Germany and it's "our" most popular holiday destination... Besides, some very nice recommendations in here already, hope you find something that suits you @Jack Wright.

Hey, it's not brilliant, but not bad enough to go into the 'worst tattoos ever' thread either, I'd say ;-) I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you find fantastic tattooers in Spain (are you willing to travel anywhere within Spain? If not you might want to be a bit more precise...) and then it's probably best to go and see someone in person to get a professional opinion. Good luck and welcome!

I've been to the "Tattoo Art Today" exhibition at Somerset House in London yesterday. Highly recommended, it's not huge but a nice collection indeed. I particularly liked Horiyoshi 3's silk paintings and of course, Horitomo's Monmon Cat ;-)

Tegaderm/Saniderm/Tatuderm healing process
omeletta replied to Bigboy67's topic in Tattoo After Care
@abees, I don't really mind which one as they seem to be rather similar? I was just under the impression that getting Tegaderm was easier in the UK. I checked the Saniderm shipping cost now and they want £10, not too bad actually. @polliwog Do you remember which size you used? Is a width of 4inch good? -

I'd like to try this fantastic sounding stuff when I get my thigh done, but not sure what exactly it is I need to look for? I've found this on amazon but am slightly confused by the "non-adherent absorbent pad" mentioned in its description...is this what I want to buy? Any clarification would be much appreciated before I go off and waste my money on the wrong product...
