The Gorilla with Tits, He wasn't expecting that one by the sound of it. Thats like when I got my snake lady from Grime, showed me the drawing and it had four tits, I was thinking to myself at the time thats pretty twisted but I was down for it. Turned out to be an awesome piece, can't really go wrong with anything he draws.

Good for you i'm glad you are happy. What have you got on your back? I guess traditional american imagery can be executed in this manner but not Japanese,doesn't look right.

Im with you on this one man. Back pieces look unfinished and cramped when they don't extend onto the butt/thighs in my opinion. The japanese definitely got it right in this regard, Flow and readability is everything when it comes to Tattoos.

Hell yeah that Grime back piece is dope. Love that organic texture as well, he incorporates bits and pieces of bio mechanical into a lot of his tattoos which is distinctly Grime style. Not a fan of the back piece which doesn't flow onto the butt but this one I dig.

Brian Bruno is dope I like his Japanese a lot. Have you seen Uncle Allan's back Shige did of the nine tailed kitsune?

I follow this guy on Instagram, He goes by the name Alexander Grim tattooing out of Russia. His recent work he has been posting is amazing,he has a really unique style to his work,the majority of his work is Japanese style. These are some older pics off his myspace.

I think just reading through the names of the artists attending this convention you feel it has taken a big step forward from last year. A lot of top notch artists making their first visit to NZ which is cool and especially being in New Plymouth. New Plymouth is a fairly small town,population of about 70,000 situated on the west coast of the north island. It makes a nice change from having conventions in Auckland,which is NZ's largest city ( 1.5 Mill. ) and not too different from any other big city in the world. For me Chad Koeplinger is a big highlight, im sure he will be very busy, not sure if he has been to NZ before? I personally have swung more towards japanese style tattoos and have basically planned the rest of my space to this style. i am hoping to be tattooed by one of your fellow aussies Owen Williams from Melbourne. It is going to be an awesome weekend,I hope the weather is kind like last year with not a cloud in the sky for the two days.

I will be there. Brent has done a amazing job putting this together, New Zealand isn't really known for its conventions but this one has a world class line up.

Some tattooists should not attempt Japanese. I don't tattoo but I know it is the hardest (arguably) style to master and when its done right it looks amazing, when its done wrong it looks damn awful.

Must be the 40degree celcius heat getting to him, too many siesta's!!
