Again - another great thread showing start to finish - looks great!

Hey hey hey guys he's trying to help you out. You know, from all that pressure of having to design a tattoo on the spot. So you could dream about creating all these neat ideas at home, while you are driving, etc. You might even subcontract the work out to one of those websites that submits your idea to it's own set of designers who bid on the work, so you pay them, so you can then submit that website's best designs to this app without being paid a dime for the effort! Cynics, all of you.

In this thread, we commiserate about healing our fresh tattoos.

I was in the bathroom a couple weeks ago, after just having cleaned the floor when I saw this mess and thought, what the heck, I JUST CLEANED here. Then, oh yeah.... ::shake shake shake:: it's snowing pebbles in here. -
Possibly contact dermatitis (skin irritation in an area directly in contact with the causative agent) - a sensitivity to the blue ink. It's not rare, although red ink is generally the culprit. This isn't necessarily an infection yet - it's also right next to the blue ink in the long part on the right but nowhere near the black. Initial treatment for that is topical corticosteroids. I'd probably try Cortisone or a similar product for a couple days and see if that helps. If it gets funkier or it breaks out or gets nodules, see a doc. And I'm not a doc /disclaimer.

I did one of the njtrail series last summer - awesome! It was my first trail race so I signed up for the 10k. Then I was running along with some folks who were doing the half, and they peer-pressured me into the half. Well, at about the 10k point, they pulled away, and I ran the second loop by myself, cursing in the hot sun, doing some run/walk, rolling my eyes, posting instagram pics. Ugh! At that point, I just decided that I Must Finish just because I stupidly made the commitment and I needed the psychology in my head that you never give up when things start sucking really badly. I hope to be back into it enough this winter to join them - I love cold weather running.

I've been running in Watchung Reservation a lot lately. All sorts of trails from smooth glorious singletrack to gnarly roots rocks and hills. And always some mud :-) I really have to visit more trails - that one looks nice, too.

Jealous! I love running half marathons, and also trail running, but this tattoo has killed my training this year. No races this year. My base is nearly gone and I just get out for trail running whenever I'm able to get a sports bra back on without pain. As soon as this damned back is done, back to training!

@Boiled Dove - so what about your daughter's girlfriend? Story kinda took a turn when the topic of skulls came up... :)

Ok, I see what you have next. The spine didn't bother me. The kidneys and love handles are killer. I've only got a bit on an upper cheek so far. Not sure how far south he's going, but I won't be hitting ditch!

Aww, shucks. Yeah, I really really really was trying to help. Couldn't hold back the sarcasm, tho, when I got blown off. ::curtsies sweetly:: I know her type - she shows up to the party pre-offended. Looking for opportunities to become offended, then lashing out at some perceived injustice. Sigh. It's those types of folks who later think they are being discriminated against or dissed when they actually NEED your help, and don't get it.

I don't know what you guys are all complaining about. I look at all the "tattoo pain" pictures on the internet and they all show the butt as one of the spots on the body where the pain is lower. I think you guys are all just looking for attention and the opportunity to show off your backsides and using this forum as a way to publicly admire butts and your S&M tendencies without the shunning of society.

I prefer alcohol on fresh tattoos. You never know - there could be bacteria and all sorts of stuff in there from the tattooing process. Better safe than sorry.

Unless you have a really really strong need for certain parts to be certain colors, let the artist decide. They have much better experience about color palette and flow, and what color combos works best to balance out the entire design.
-
For one, it looks like you might be putting too much aftercare on it - you don't need it this slicked up all the time. Are you soaking it or letting it get really wet for long periods of time? The lighter areas may be moist scabs and the color will settle after the skin and scabs completely go away. Tattoo Gu isn't causing this - it's fine although not a preferred method around here. On the other hand, the areas around the blue look more inflamed than around the black. Some people around here have reported a sensitivity to some blues. Maybe that is your case, or you could be looking at an infection. Send the pics to your artist and have him look at it them. If you are worried about an infection, see a doc.

Welcome. Nice intro - enjoy!

I have not used this yet but I've read this thread. Unless someone chimes in, leave it on. People in this thread have talked about walking around with a puddle in there, and only taking steps when it got pretty significant or had big concerns about leakage. So I'd say leave it on unless the volume gets concerning then come back and ask again.

Working really hard to get those first 10 quality posts in, right? Can't wait to see the intro.
