Lifting Thread;training for the tattooed warrior.
Mick Weder replied to kylegrey's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
Kettle bells are kick arse. I don't lift the big 3 anymore. I hit a tabata, 3 min rounds all single arm alternate, pyramid 24,20,16 & back up with something like a high swing, deep squat push press, snatch, shoulder press. Battle ropes are awesome too. The same, hit tabata 3 min rounds alternating between a 24 & 16 kg rope. That shit works ya over fkn big time. -
Some good 'ol Aussie rock n OI!

Good luck with the rehab Myles. Nothing worse than having that monkey on your back man. As negative as it is, it's part of a journey, and one you'll build incredible internal strength from when you make it through. Respect. [emoji106] -

You forgot to mention the cider, rum & wine. Sunday morning breakfast ciders while prepping to have some ink drilled is a bit of a weekly ritual now :) -

It's funny, when I rock into a MH unit to catch up with the NUM, I spend more time talking with the consumers! They love seeing this dude who works for the hospital rockin in with tattoos belted everywhere and talk to them like I'd talk to anyone else. I love liaising with our MH units & community teams. -

Interesting. In Australia there's plenty of nurses and Docs sporting serious ink. -

You may be surprised. I work in a corporate environment & required to deliver information to large groups of Directors. I have this saying, "you gotta know your stuff & own your space" I'll be the one who determines how I'll be perceived. I notice peoples initial reaction when they see this dude walk in suited up from the neck to the fingers. I also notice their reaction when I walk out, which then has nothing to do with my tattoos. I chose to express my different outlook on life through tattoos, I ain't ever gonna let them make me doubt who I am. Faaark being ashamed. -
@ Colored Guy. Same, the red I had pumped in over 20 years ago use to welt and become itchy intermittently even up to a couple of years after, eventually dropping out. Only the red but. Yellow too was a problem with wash out, but no reaction like the red. Never gave it much thought, just stayed away from red & yellows and opted for darker more richer tones. These days but, the reds and yellows work a treat & remain sharp.

I've never seen a dude wear an apron before.

I still can't get a handle on what a Hipster is. Maybe the generation gap lets me down. Are we talking motherfuckers who change their style depending what the current trend is? In Australia we have a simple term for them types. "Wankers".

I found with the line work on the back, those big long sweeping lines picking up all those nerve endings was fucked. Good times :) -
I gotta agree with the sound advice already given above. Faaark the wings, go the full eagle. Not only are eagles the epitome of cool, they're timeless, and as a kick arse tattoo you will love it weather your 18 or 80. Ditch the superman idea, that'll go down as "the tattoo I got when I was 18". Full blown eagle, either smashed on the chest or across the front would both be shit hot. But in saying this, this will be your 1st tattoo mate. A major piece em blazed on your front is no walk in the park. But don't let that make you opt for a little piece you may regret later just to test the waters. Maybe...work out a killer half sleeve or something on your arm, then progress to a more challenging part of the body. But then, I also know fellas who have gone hard core, straight up tattoo number 1. Either way, the consistent advice here is choose well. This is my eagle smacked under my chest. Eagles are rad!

I faaarkin love Danos. My local is the size of an aircraft hanger. I'm like a kid in a lollie shop. Walk in planning to buy a standard case of ale, walk out loaded with a trolley load. Getting back on topic but :), yeah! I'll have to sus more of these clean skins. -

Talking about clean skins, having breakfast ciders with a mate the other morning and he mentioned he scored a case of Korean clean skin full strength beer from 1st choice recently for $27. I'll have to sus it. Shopping for cheap alcoholic beverages is a hobby of mine. -
Smokin too much, drinkin too much, bar b qing too much. Hold on! That should be posted in the good shit thread! Back to another pint of the black stuff.

Haha...true mate. It's funny too, I don't speak any other language than Aussie, but I defo know when I'm in the fkn shit when my Misso starts yelling in a different language! Don't need no interpreter to get the jist what's coming out of her mouth!

Oh yeah, the triangles mate. We're being overtaken by triangles and fkn squares. I'm fucked seeing I was shithouse at geo, geo, geofuckin'omerty at school.
