Your overall look as a tattooed person
Mick Weder replied to keepcalm's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I was watching a tattoo doco ages ago and the interviewer was talking to this suited dude outside a convention about his choice of design. Old mate says, in the beginning a lot of thought went into design, placement and meaning...now it's just all about the coverage man. I was really able to pick up what he was putting down with that statement. I know what I like, but long gone are the days where I'd think too much about it. I have been with some pieces, but like when we were looking for a large feature to punch in the inner right thigh, tattooer says, how about an evil looking monkey playing a banjo swinging a whiskey bottle from his tail sound? Whiskey swilling monkey it is. I always knew as a young boy that a heavy suit was designed for me. For me it's not quite the design, it's going heavy. In saying that but, when I see the most awesome work through these threads on fellow LST members, the work just blows me away and constantly think how I'd love to be able to start all over again. ...hold on, nah fuck that! It hurts too much :) -

Landscaping! We too just recently did some landscaping to our entire front. We chopped down all the trees, dug up all the grass and replaced it with a deck, shade covers, built a bar, bought a new bar b and now spend heaps of time drinkin', rockin' tunes, bar b qing the fuck outta chicken wings. Yeah, spending quality time with nature is where it's at for us now. -
Awesome guys! Cheers. Here's some good rocking' Aussie blues. Hope ya dig it. Some good biker blues with The Barflys. Some nice Dynas & Softys too. Tits?

Nice. Junior Kimbrough is cool as fuck. Needed to buy a new recording. Thanks for promoting me here. Mate, you'd enjoy the recording "best of fat possum".

Im in Queensland, gods own mango country, although out of season ATM. We just hit winter. Have you seen the Yonana? It's faaarkin' awesome. You take this, which makes that, which turns out something like such. Frozen banana & mango with some dark chocolate put through is...mate..very fucking nice. -
I'm not a metal fan, but early 70's Sabbath is in a league of it's own. One of my all time favourite songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8kYrIWu14E

Maui looks fucking awesome! How were the pool bars, and the multi coloured drinks with little umbrellas in them? I fucking love pool bars, oh, and multi coloured drinks with little umbrellas in them. BUT! only when I'm on holiday so none of me mates can see me drinkin' 'em. Just had my Wide Glide on the Dyno today...pulling a shave over 100 Torque & a shave under 90 horse power. Then I took it for a fuckin' smash down the motorway them up through the hills. That was my awesome day. -
Different cultures, different expectations I s'pose. See, in Australia - well my generation anyway, we show respect a complete different way, through gesture. I tip my tattooer every week! with a couple ice cold ones & a chat before we begin. Old time respect ;) Fuck! we don't even like talking money. We do it once & move on :)

@misterJ - faaarkin solid mate. Really looking forward to the progress on this! @Cork - the full back defo fucks with the head at times. I remember smashing mine, at least one session a week sometimes two just to get the fucker completed. @Ragen - I fucking love this! That's all I can say :) Nothing!! beats a full back tattoo, nothing in this world, except maybe a chopper!...oh, and maybe a pint of the black stuff.

Question for people with suits (or close to it)
Mick Weder replied to misterJ's topic in Tattoo Advice
Thanks misterJ. I always had this notion before tackling a real painful area that, others have been here before me..so it's just my turn to do the same. Just helps with creating the right head space. I'm lucky too that my tattooer just knows how to work the different areas. His machines are always running nice and he just digs in when when it's needed. Nothing worse for me this stopping and starting. Load it up, belt in in. Cheers mate. -
Question for people with suits (or close to it)
Mick Weder replied to misterJ's topic in Tattoo Advice
When I first started getting tattooed in the 80's I always knew I wanted to become heavily tattooed but didn't have the mind set to suit. So it was like starting on the arms with large pieces spaced out. You know, 2 upper arm designs, outer/ inner forearms, biceps. When I realised I wanted to go solid, I continued to fill large gaps with features and then background with solid black, win bars/ clouds/ lightning bolts etc. i'de seen a lot of Western suits dropped with colour, like blue in like a water scene and stuff and it seemed too light and took away the effect of the features. Still impressive but. So when we embarked on the rest of the suit, we followed the same concept. Large features, smash the black background. I have major pieces that are a combo of Japanese style, trad style, punk skulls...whatever, and the conflicting styles still work a treat because of the simple approach of tying it all together. Makes it a little more interesting for me too that I haven't committed to just one style. As long as I just pick a design I like, keep it bold, not too fruity, then it just comes down to execution. I've never been too worried about perfection either. It's the overall effect I have always sought out. -

Whether one sits an 8, 4, 2 or 1 hour session, it's still time under the machine in my book. Every hour is painfully earned.

There's a reason we come back to dragons, panthers and the like. They're timeless, and well..just fuckin cool. Just done a quick count of 9 dragons, but not 1 panther. Thanks guys. Panthers head to be slammed back of neck next tattoo! - - - Updated - - - Fkn how cool. Just texted tattooer about slamming panther head back of neck. Locked in for next week. Fuck this forums awesome.

Lol. Fosters. We don't even sell that crap here. Seriously! You can not walk into a pub and find that shit on tap. It was only marketed over seas cause we don't drink it. Have an old brother riding down today. We're hitting an out of the way, old skool pub. 2 rocka bands playing, $5 on the door, cheap beer. Sit out on the footpath tables drinkin, talkin, smokin and kick back to some good old rock n roll.
