  1. All good @WhyMista, can definitely respect the differences in cultures and experiences. Beer o'clock indeed!
  2. @WhyMista you asked what was so offensive about asking what tattoos cost. I gave an answer, you indicated my viewpoint was snobbish. There are ways of communicating and sharing opinions on the internet that, even if your opinion differs, are still friendly. I didn't get that from you, therefore this is the last I will discuss with you on this topic.
  3. OK then. If you aren't willing to be genuinely interested in people's opinions and have an open dialogue with them that doesn't resort to name calling, then don't ask questions.
  4. The way I look at it, tattoos are not something like a car or a TV that you can find online with an advertised price. Those are consumables, whereas tattoos are on your body and they are art (IMO). For me, asking about the price of my tattoo is the same as asking me how much I earn, or what my house cost. I think it's tacky. Good tattoos aren't cheap and I'm not comfortable telling people how much I have spent on them. I've done it once and it bit me in the arse, never again.
  5. I'm still very new to getting tattooed, and I've said a couple of times here just how much I hated getting my thighs done. In my limited experience, I can only compare it to my inner forearm, it's a different sort of pain I found. While my inner arm and ditch certainly hurt more in terms of surface pain, I found with my thighs it was a more deeper, muscular/nerve pain, which left me totally exhausted and shaky at the end of the session. Both of my thighs were one-hit tattoos, so this probably factored in as well. Emily has a reputation of being a driller, but as I've only been tattooed by two people and she has done both my thighs, I don't know how much of a difference this really makes.
  6. Starting working 6 full days a week this week (Mon to Sat) with a couple of late nights thrown in, and will continue until mid September. Really hoping it doesn't extend into October like last year. I loathe this time of year in my industry.

    Book thread

@HaydenRose I just visited Anne Rice's website and didn't realise there were more books after Queen of the Damned. That has made me very happy! @idyllsend I read the clan of the cave bear books years ago and thoroughly enjoyed them. The GoT books are awesome, I refused to watch the tv series until I had finished them. Be prepared for a cast of thousands, and don't get too caught up on names if you can't remember who people are. I spent a bit of time going back and re-reading things when I was confused who someone was, in the end I realised it didn't really matter.

    Book thread

I'm revisiting Wizards First Rule by Terry Goodkind. First read it about 15 or so years ago. The writing is a bit more simplistic than what I have been reading lately, but am enjoying it nonetheless.
  11. I just wanted to address what you said above. I don't like to share too much about my personal life, but I will on this occasion. I suffer from a mental illness, but am a fully functioning person who gets up and goes to work every day, shares a smile and laugh with collegues, lifts weights at the gym, and spends a lot of time with my friends. Not many people know about my mental struggles, and those that do it's only because I have told them. Mentally ill people generally don't look sick (yes there are cases where it's apparent someone isn't well by their actions). When we are ill we don't have a runny nose, or a cough. When I am sick, and when I am well, I still don't like to be touched by strangers. Mental illness is surprisingly common. It still has a stigma attached to it, and I would bet money on the people who you think are mentally and emotionally stable, that there are a few of them who are sufferers, but you wouldn't pick it. I guess what I'm trying to say, is don't be so casual with flippant remarks regarding the mental health of people. You can't judge how they are doing mentally on whether they lash out at being touched by strangers. That is stupid.
  12. I am envious of your warm winters. Enjoy your ride :-)
  13. It's freezing and blowing a gale with rain coming in sideways in Melbourne tonight. I'm in my jimjams, cat in lap, delicious glass of Oyster Bay Merlot in hand and about to watch the final of Orange is the new black.
  14. I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but are you seriously for real? Touching of strangers no matter what gender you and they are is totally inappropriate. Having tattoos is not a valid excuse for this un-acceptable behaviour.
  15. @Mick Weder I pulled him up about it, told him I wasn't comfortable with what he had posted and to remove it. He won't be doing that again. Had my bike for 4 years, never dropped it, never crashed it. Did have a few close calls with dickheads trying to race me or swooping in front of me on the motorway. It was around the time when the TAC had those awful anti-motorcycle ads on the telly, portraying us all as hoons who race everywhere and go over the centre line on blind corners, and Super Cheap had that CARma ad where the guy is filtering through the traffic and he gets doored. But that is a whole different thread.
  16. He is a really good guy, so I have no idea why he would do something like that. Lesson learnt, time to think of smartass answers for any future questions of that nature.
  17. I was feeling OK with the amount that I had spent on my tattoos, until a close friend asked me what I had paid for them and I stupidly told him. His face dropped, and I spent the next 10 minutes justifying to him why I felt it was money well spent. A couple of months later, he had posted my tattoo on another forum and told everyone what it had cost. Not cool.
  18. When did "selfish" become the new catchcry for living your life how you choose and doing things you love? I'm apparently very selfish for choosing not to have children and spending all my money on me, and was also labelled selfish when I had my motorbike too (OMG you'll fall off and DIE! So selfish!) People need to live and let live, and mind their own damn business.
  19. So sorry @SeeSea. Sounds like her last days at home were filled with love. Love the monmon memorial idea too.
  20. I am absolutely, unashamedly a Crazy Cat Lady too. My fiance and I have been wanting to travel to California for a few years now, I think I'm going to have to try to tee up an appointment at SOG when we do.
  21. @TrixieFaux I saw this on IG and had a feeling it would be you! Congrats, this is just so beautifully perfect, you lucky duck!!!
  22. So sorry to hear the news @Colored Guy take care of yourself.
