    Welcome Michelle..I met you years ago when it was illegal,and you were tattooing out of your house across the street from Daredevil.I was just curious why didn't you,or anyone in your shop's make it on NY Ink.I know You,Brad,& Big Steve were on their website looking for votes.I heard from a tattooer in CA,that no tattooers in NYC wanted to do the show.It just seems weird that Ami is the head guy on this show,when it should have been someone that's from NY,or like yourself who has been tattooing in the city for a long time.

    Maybe he's just to busy.Or maybe it's his way of saying he's not interested.There's to many good tattooers out there to get caught up in one guy.There's so many excellent tattooers in NYC with japanese work,your sure to find someone who's work you like.

    Yeah,since I'm laid off from the job i have plenty of time to sit at the computer and jump on new post when they come up.I know i'm pretty quick.Sorry for hogging up the boards.But Chris Adamek is one of my favorite tattooers in Jersey.A real low key guy,but his work is beautiful.Take a look at his flickr page.     I was at the shop in Jersey where kevin works yesterday,and asked how long he's booked.The counter guy said he's taking appointments in September for January. And he also just started working in NYC at Kings Avenue two day's a week.Your probably going to have to wait longer between appointments with him because he's booked for so long,and only works at the shop in Jersey probably three day's a week.

    You should call the shop to see if you can get a consultation with Chris.I'm pretty sure he's booked up for a few month's.Or just go to the shop,and see if you can talk with him briefly.Matt does real nice work,but his style is more along the lines of realistic color/biomechanical/organic.I wouldn't go to him for japanese work. Rich Cahill Studio - RichCahill.com is really good with asian work.He did a beautiful koi fish sleeve on a friend of mine a few years ago.Another guy in N.Jersey who is good with his own style of japanese work is Jeremy@ SCREAMIN INK TATTOOS And another Jeremy@ Revolver Tattoo is real good with traditional japanese work.Mike & Tom @ Electric tattoo Tom's style is more asian influenced.

    Yeah,invisible has excellent tattooers.But the artists mostly do asian style work.I didn't know Toxyc was 300hr.Some more artists to check out for b & g work. Mike@ THICKER THAN WATER tattoo he doesn't do the same style as Toxyc,but he's a really talented tattooer.

    I think it's acceptable to find a new artist right now.I wouldn't go back to that guy especially after looking at the scales on that dragon.And why would you wait 9 hrs for this dude when your appt.was at 12.And the fact that you say he does a lot of drugs would discourage me from the start.I would find another artist to finish your work.Here's some good artists to check out.     Didn't realize you were paying 200hr.for this guy.I wouldn't mind paying top dollar for an artist,but his work should be comparable to the price your paying.I don't think it is in this case.What other shops did you check out?

    I wouldn't take that statement serious about being one of the best tattoo shops in NYC.I think years ago they had a better line up of artists.I wouldn't have wen't with that artists for an illustrative leg sleeve.It looks like in his portfolio he does a lot of one sitting tattoos.I would have wen't with Simone,or Darren.I think Toxyc is a much better tattooer than this guy.Your probably going to pay a lot more at Dark Images.What were you thinking of getting from him?

    I don't think you can put Ami in the same arena as Ed Hardy.As far as i know Ed was one of the first American's to be doing big Japanese work.He was a big influence to a lot of tattooers years before Ami was born.I remember when Ami was tattooing in NY for a little while and wasn't impressed with his work.I don't think many people even heard of Ami until he got on TV.His work wasn't good enough to put him in the spotlight,but being on these shows certainly did.

    I remember ITA did a profile on him like 10yrs.ago,and i really liked the way he blended realism with asian work.In the interview he said he was going to do some guest spot's in the New York area.I called him up to inquire about when he would be visiting,and about possibly getting tattooed.But after talking with him,i was turned off by him.He wanted to know what artists tattooed me.And he said you know i only do big pieces.I felt like he was interviewing me to see if i was good enough to be tattooed by him.But after watching the video,i have to say it was probably my favorite interview so far.It seems like he's a different person than the dude i talked with awhile ago.
