+1 to this entire thing And @beez I agree, the Op Ivy is awesome and should never be covered. Also, I realize this is the kind of post I usually hate, agreeing without adding anything, but you've all said it so well and laid down some very solid advice already. Pretend this is a witty and useful sentence. EDIT: not gonna lie, "junkies runnin dry" came up on my spotify right after I posted this reply. And yea, I did reword that all to rhyme repeatedly... sorry.

Post awesome things you have been doing recently
OutOfIdeas replied to irezumi's topic in Random Crap
Passed my CDL test yesterday. I was really nervous; went first at 6am, and the tester was known for being a bit of a dick, but I passed. Orientation with an over the road company on Tuesday, then if all goes well I could be relocating to Cali somewhere and starting work within a month! -
Mormons are super-dooper anti-tattoo, aren't they? I think (really, really don't quote me on this) I remember being told that both major denominations of the Mormon church strictly forbid tattoos.
-
Rad! Both are awesome. I also really like the work you have that's surrounded by black but has a silhouette around it. Very cool stuff. Is that an old school thing I've just never seen, or something you or your artist came up with?

Not gonna lie, my first thought was "wait, why would the sun need sunglasses?" Back on subject, I hate sunburn. I always feel like I'm healing a new tattoo, without having the awesomeness of a new tattoo. Where's the fun in that??

Awesome @Zillah !

Our Imperfect Skin: Scars, Stretch Marks, And More
OutOfIdeas replied to tatB's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Here's a bit better picture of mine. The bit at the bottom is skinnier, but more raised and tough feeling. I think that'll be the problematic spot. -
I think he should probably be given the death penalty, for the combination of his crime, and actually getting "murder" tattooed backwards, on his neck. I try not to judge people when I can, but damn guy. Really?

That flyer is so awesome!

Our Imperfect Skin: Scars, Stretch Marks, And More
OutOfIdeas replied to tatB's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
My fun one will be the chest eagle I want one day, the surgery scar gets more pronounced the further down it goes, so it might get a little wacky. Have to wait to see if they're gonna cut me back open first though -
Our Imperfect Skin: Scars, Stretch Marks, And More

Tattooing my scar was weird. Felt like some parts I couldn't feel pain, just vibrations, and others were quite intense. The intense sensations only lasted like half a second though. Not sure what that was all about. -

Hope this works, and you can see it, but i have a very large (3/4" wide) but flat scar, from a heart surgery 21 years ago. The "r" sits almost entirely on it, in my chest rocker. Looks a little different from the other letters, up close, but not too noticeable from a distance. Felt weird as hell getting tattooed though! If you want I can try and get a better picture when I'm not in my car on lunch break, which is awkward. -
Way cool! @beez im definitely jealous - - - Updated - - - The think its settled. My next tattoo might have to be a brokeback girl, with a "wwggd" banner. Also, sorry for spelling errors. Its not quite 7pm and im already a bit fuckered up. Party on Wayne...

I worried a lot about this same thing @Bexter , this Christmas the grandparents saw my sleeve and other tattoos, having had none the last time I saw them. Packed a lot of long sleeved shirts and flannels to hide them, out of respect; on the first day I was ratted out, and after they asked to see them, I was told "don't be ridiculous, go put a regular t-shirt on!" By both. Both are very proper British folks.

Man I want a brokeback girl tattoo now...

Seniors showing some great tattoos
OutOfIdeas replied to Mark Bee's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
When Miles tattooed me around Christmas this year, he said he was a little annoyed about the photo that went around of him with the caption "our generation will be some weird grandparents" (and variations of that) He said he was in his 40s and just had his first kid damnit, haha. I wonder what he'd say to being lumped in as a senior! -
Holy shit. Saw this on instagram by Tim Hendricks. Tough as fossilized owl shit. http://instagram.com/p/m6dww1FpJx/ (Is it ok to repost an artists work from instagram?)

In this thread, we commiserate about healing our fresh tattoos.
OutOfIdeas replied to Pugilist's topic in Tattoo After Care
Same, when I got up near my armpit, the (crappy) plain bluish green shirt I was wearing got orange, dark blue and black ink all over it around the armpit/sleeve from the artist's wiping. I figured that'd just become my tattoo shirt incase of other ink spills or such. After a few washes I couldn't figure out which shirt it was anymore. So you should be good -
My first tattoo was on my ankle (and I'm a guy, but at least I didn't get a tramp stamp I guess) while backpacking in South Africa. Done with a jailhouse cd player type machine, guitar string, and india ink. The guy was a surf instructor/beach bum who's couch I'd ended up on through friends of friends of friends. He'd tattooed two other times; his brother (age 14 I think) and himself. TIA. Still don't regret it. I slightly regret letting a "professional" touch It up, but my path to learning better was long. One day it'll get the touch up it deserves, but I honestly forget it's there sometimes. Edit: not that there's anything wrong with dudes getting ankle tattoos, mine's just in a size and place that could be called a bit girly haha! But I plan to work on that leg next anyway, so it'll be surrounded soon enough hopefully

Can't say much from personal experience, but there's a thread called "the ladies thread" (dont know how to link from my phone, sorry!) If they haven't talked about that situation yet, there might atleast be similar ideas there!

@radiofreejenn best of luck to you, and her! @Zillah thanks! Its had bad moments, but definately had some damn good times as well! And learned a few things about myself, and life, so thats good as well. @Nassica probably doesn't count for much, coming from an internet stranger, but I'm very, very sorry for your loss. Hold on, and remember them at their best as much as possible. And lean on anyone and everyone you can for support, thats what people who care about us are for
