  1. Haha, I meant that if you spend all your money to go to London for the convention, you can always survive on the $0.25 ramen noodles for a month! Randomly, I have gotten a good burrito out of London Victoria train station, made by a true Mexican. That caught me off guard.
  2. I've been seeing that on facebook all day as well, but hadn't clicked it until now. Some interesting stuff (how a coil machine works fascinated my tinkering side; i wonder how many tries it took to get that to work reliably?) Definately some cool shots in there.
  3. Ramen noodles totally taste better than you remember... just sayin
  4. I'll say that ribs were better than the chest for me. Not saying it was a cake walk, but better than the chest. I agree, mental approach is key. My mistake was the opposite of Mick's though. I psyched myself out instead of relaxing, was tense and nervous and suffered a lot on my first chest session. The second session, knew what to expect, knew i could handle it; it wasn't fun, but I'm still alive and it went decently.
  5. @smiling.politely thanks for posting that. I can't like things on my phone, but I'm glad I read that. Might show it to the parents the next time I get the same old "when will it stop" questions!
  6. And here I was, thinking I was going to come and post an opinion opposing the norm... I totally agree with the last few posters. If you want tattoos that you can't hide, or even tattoos at all, you should be prepared for the consequences. Such as not being able to get certain jobs. Do I agree with certain businesses not hiring tattooed people? Fuck yea. If you could potentially lose business because a customer doesn't want to see a tattooed person working there, you'd be ignorant to hire the warped tour bodysuit kid. Simple business. If you want visible tattoos, you have to have a skill set that compensates. Plain and simple. Also, I think them even using the word "discriminate" in that article is unfair. Discrimination is based (in my mind) on factors out of your control, like race, gender, sexuality, etc. Not something you willingly chose to do to yourself. Just my $.02, as a tattooed youngster working on being heavily covered one day.

    Hello

    Welcome. Got any tattoos?
  8. I don't mind them unless they're upside down.
  9. I'll have to keep that in mind. After this weekend I'm on the road for 2 solid months, running up till thanksgiving. Im thinking of treating myself to an off the wall walk-in sometime in the middle of that time frame, reward myself a little. I was thinking CTC because Chicago is so easy to get to, so much freight runs through or near there. Maybe I'll have to try Great Lakes instead!
  10. I've never heard of a 3 hour minimum? I'd say a walk in spot would be good though, depending on where you live a shop like Blackheart in SF or Chicago Tattooing Company in Chicago would be perfect
  11. Those are all rad, but I really like the scorpion!
  12. Actually scratch that. Dunno why this slipped my mind, but if I wanted any sort of religious imagery I would take it to Freddy Corbin, Temple Tattoo, Oakland. (Sorry I'm not tech savvy enough to link to instagram accounts, but google should turn them up easily) Edit: we'll see if this works http://i.instagram.com/jeffrassier/ Jeff Rassier http://i.instagram.com/classicjuan/ Juan Puente http://i.instagram.com/downtownoakland/ Freddy Corbin
  13. I would look into Juan Puente or Jeff Rassier, both at Blackheart Tattoo in SF, on Valencia near Market st. Actually everyone that works there is top notch... If I was getting that tattoo I would take it to Juan personally, I just really want a Jeff Rassier tattoo myself!
  14. Yup. As a trucker, my tattoos are not an issue. When I went to company orientation, I wore long sleeves to cover up; one of the staff had tattoos, so I sort of whispered to her "can I take this damn long sleeve off??" She just laughed at me. The staff had nothing but positive to say. Sometimes I have a hard time telling the difference between the truckers and the homeless at the truck stops. I may go a bit longer than I should without shaving, but on the whole I present a pretty professional appearance compared to most truckers. In jeans and a t-shirt!
  15. Sitting at a mexican restaurant now, conveniently located 50 yards from the truck stop, enjoying a Dos Equis while waiting for my food. Not a single person that's come in after me has spoken any English. I'm pretty confident this food will be delicious :D
  16. Thats what I'm wondering as well. The oldest one I found was a couple years old and still looked ok, but im guessing 10, 20, 30 years in it may start to fade to black as the color fades. Then its just time for a new layer! Its like a tattoo dry erase board!!
  17. Sorry if this is already mentioned somewhere else, I feel like I originally read about it here but I couldn't find it. @Lance if I can get this link to work correctly, this is what I was talking about. Should link to several BME articles about tattooing both white and color over solid black. Tattooing Over Blackwork | BME: Tattoo, Piercing and Body Modification News
  18. sorry that was super off topic by the way, to the OP, personally I would laser and cover it. If it doesn't bother you that much though, like someone else said just surround it with great tattoos
  19. @Lance I read an article a while back, I don't remember where, about a tattooer who was working on a guy with a blacked out sleeve. Ended up blasting over a completely black arm with traditional color tattoos, and surprisingly the result was extremely readable (im pretty sure, been a while so I could be mistaken)
  20. @HaydenRose that idea sounds great, can't go wrong with tattoos on a tattoo I don't think
  21. @peterpoose I don't think time has the same meaning to you, as it does most of us. That's why you get tattooed for a billion hours at a time.
  22. @SeeSea that's kinda what I was thinking. It sounds nice enough to just do it even if you haven't just been tattooed
  23. What's the cider trick? Are you literally just drinking a cold cider in a hot shower, or is there something more technical going on?
