  1. There were studies done and the consumers didn't apply it as often as they applied SPF 30+ so the SPF 50+ became less effective than 30+. Sorry about the muddled, my kids are sick so I'm a little tired lately.
  2. I was just looking into some SPF 50 sunscreen and it's not really widely marketed in Australia. Given that I'm in Western Oz and there is A LOT of sun here, applying sunscreen and a hat is way of life... Well, if you're smart anyway... Australia only got the announcement in December that SPF 50 was approved and apparently it's only 1.4% better protection and that's only if people apply it the same as SPF 30. Just a reminder people :) - - - Updated - - - also Hogrider, as a glasses wearer I much prefer looking in the mirror without them ;)
  3. Hi! That sounds like an exciting adventure. Keep me posted please and welcome to the forum :)
  4. So anything else out of his mouth lost all credibility anyway lol. Anyone that describes any sort of content with "and shit" are really not worth listening to lol
  5. The jewelry artist got back to me regarding my feet. She gave permission and also emailed copies of the pics. This it what I will be getting: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0196/9326/products/librarian1_1024x1024.jpeg?2439 on right foot and http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0196/9326/products/be_mine_girl1_1024x1024.jpeg?2439 on left foot. Thinking the "BE MINE" in the heart may have to be written next to the picture. I'll stick to same text though. Will see after I pop in and see tattoo dude tomorrow. I fugure they should fit pretty well considering the sugar skulls I usually see
  6. Really? I've never thought of rose tattoos or flowers in general are strictly for one sex or the other...
  7. Okay, I have had my first comment about my visible tattoo and I laughed at her. I had a mother at school pick-up say to me "you know that's permanent, right?" to which she got me saying sarcastically "No? Really? Oh shit!" and rolled eyes. That was closely followed by her muttering "I think tattoos are disgusting".
  8. Oh I choked on my coffee because the statement in general caught me off guard and it was hilarious...
  9. errrr, maybe the outline of Australia? I'm not too sure because I'm not really a bogan. Not really into patriotism although I'm a proud Aussie
  10. Okay, I'm speaking for the Australian bit and you can't get a more Australian tatt than the Southern Cross unless it's the flag. As for the eagle being blacked out, does it have to be that exact eagle? It's your depiction of showing your nationalities so an eagle in a similar pose maybe? Just a thought. Talk to an artist anyway
  11. Hey @dcannon ! How's my home town today? I stumbled across this site: Tattoos Down Under From what I can tell they're based in Ringwood so maybe they might be able to help you find people? Not sure if you already knew of them but I am pretty sure i've only come across sydney based magazine editors (I think). Then again I haven't really been looking.
  12. Well, I was going to get my star but saw a random chick walking along with one and it looked rather crappy with all the straight lines on a foot. Glad I don't just rush off and get tattoos done before being 100% sure. BUT I have found a piece for each foot with is sort or traditional look but not. I originally thought about one on my right forearm but it will work way better on my foot with the other one I've fallen in love with on my other foot. I've just emailed the artist who makes awesome jewellery in Melbourne, Australia to ask permission. She's said yes to others in the past so it shouldn't be a problem but I like to respect the artist none the less. Pretty sure she just expects pictures in return and to mention her if anyone asks. I'm a bit excited actually because I already own a few of her pieces and have a couple in the post I ordered last week.
  13. I don't really have a ritual because it's not really a regular thing for me yet but I made sure I was well hydrated and ate a lot of protein for 48 hours prior. I also avoided any different cosmetics, creams, washing powders and shampoo/conditioner prior because im prone to allergic reactions to these products. Didn't want to add that on top of a possible reaction to the ink post ink once again I pumped up the fluids to avoid the area dehydrating even more than it could
  14. Hello from another person in the southern hemisphere :)
  15. *waves some cheerleader pom poms* Yup, it's your skin so who gives a flying fuck. I personally won't criticise someone's tattoos for that exact reason. Also no matter how small and crappy one's may seem it was a moment in their life where that was awesome for them even if it was a random flash on the wall they picked purely for wanting a tattoo.
  16. I never got a push present. I do get rather spoilt throughout the year though. Editing to add that the town I live in has a bit of money and it's no biggie for people to drop 20K on a trip overseas once a year. Someone I knew requested a trip to Disneyland (considering that's a flight to the US as well as spending money and accommodation it's fairly pricey from Australia). One lady I knew hosted a $15,000 first birthday party for her daughter. Personally I'd rather put the money away for the child's future or put it on the mortgage...
  17. BEST EXCUSE EVER! lol My first was when I was 15 and wanted a tatt. It's a black rose that looks stenciled onto my upper left butt cheek. really crappy but no point regretting it because it's what I wanted at the time. It really made me appreciate body art but I haven't had enough cash until now.
  18. Thanks @Duffa! How's the sunshine in Brisbang right now? The shop is called Wildcard (only shop in town unless you want to go back yard and I am not going that route). A dude named Chris who originally worked in SA did my tattoos. I can't use Bepanthan because it gives me hives so i'm using the Lucas pawpaw. It's what the artist recommends anyway because he's found it's less likely to make scabs super gooey and block pores. It's especially sucky right now because it's a really dry winter and because it's ssssso cold my skin is doing the try form extra cells thing. I get nasty dermatitis on my hands from the metals in the soil as well. Hoping I can get the application right on next tatt and after getting this one fixed. The super thick scabbing was awful and I'm pretty sure it's the reason so much damage was done when I got the hives/swelling. Because of the super dry HOT climate from around November til Marchish I will probably avoid getting tatts than. Too freaking hot and it's like a hair dryer out there so I really don't think it'd be logical lol
  19. Thanks Scott R yeah it's cool. I was following instructions to the letter. The hives incident wasn't really foreseen so not much I can do if it's messed it up. The shop isn't open until tomorrow as it's closed sun/mon but with 2 sick kids no chance to get there til Tuesday. I'll just keep letting it do its thing and keep it comfortable with the aftercare ointment. I'm expecting to be called regarding my next design soon so I'll have a chat to the artist then. They have a no prams/children sign on the door so I don't like just popping in unless I have a real reason to and have cleared it with them first. Either way despite the areas where desperate retouching is needed I am freaking stoked with it.
  20. Managed to get a semi decent pic tonight and not as much is needed to be retouched as I thought. I got hives down my arm yesterday and it swelled so I thought there'd be way more damage done. Opinions please? Okay apparently link is broken but it's in my gallery
  21. Sorry this made me laugh because so many dicks are already walking around the streets so why should people be offended by drawings of them?
  22. Or that lol Yeah I'd go with my gut. For instance I went to get a piercing once and walked into the place and really didn't feel right so left. Anyway bumped into an old acquaintance that got pierced there and he had to get a bar surgically removed from the bridge of his nose due to a dodgy job. He'd heard of it happening to numerous other people too. Thing is he said it didn't look right when the piercing bloke pulled the piece out to get ready but dismissed it. Sorry, went off a little there.
