  1. Sailor Jerry’s birthday party in Minneapolis. Done by Kyle Malone at Leviticus tattoo. Kyle did my first ever tattoo and I always have a great time when he gives me a tattoo.
  2. In August we got a puppy. She is some kind of beagle mutt and it's lucky she is so cute because she is the biggest asshole I have ever met. Anyway, she and I would like to wish you all a merry christmas and happy new year.
  3. It doesn't appeal to me or bother me. If some people want this and some tattooers are willing to use it they will find each other and it will not effect me. Pretty huge non issue as far as I'm concerned.
  4. Two words in a banner on a traditional rose or something would probably work out.
  5. Depends on the shop/artist policy I imagine. My wife and I like to sit with each other but I have also been asked to sit in the waiting area.
  6. We did it. I think wife’s dagger and heart won the day but I’m pretty happy with my seahorse.
  7. It's tattoo week! Wife and I have back to back appointments on Saturday with https://www.instagram.com/miwunsch/
  8. Lower leg tattoos are the tattoos of kings- at least that's my assumption.
  9. What's up everyone? Since this place seems to be mostly questions about "hey, is my tattoo infected" these days I figured I might as well through something out in the genre. Ok, I know for a fact my tattoo is not infected. Anyway, it is healing weirdly and my thinking is that it will clear itself up over time but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. My most recent tattoo was in April (I know, I know, don't worry I have an appointment with Mimi Wunsch scheduled in October). The tattoo is on my lower leg, kind of along the front shin but not entirely because- ouch. It started off healing just like any other tattoo with a couple of itchy peels and an brief rough patch after a few weeks. Eventually it healed and started the process of settling into my skin as with all of my other tattoos except that it has never entirely stopped healing. It isn't really peeling in the traditional sense but the skin just kind of keeps flaking off. It's kind of like my tattoo has dandruff. The lines are good, the color is good. Overall the tattoo is just fine except for the think layer of white flaky skin still covering it. Anyone else experience this? I'm thinking (hoping) that eventually it will settle down so I'm not too worried about it. Hell, even as it is currently I doesn't look too bad. Thoughts? Also, as long as I'm posting here I thought I'd take the time to find out what ya'll are up too? How was the summer? Are the kids back in school? Mine starts back up on Tuesday. We drove to Florida this summer which was mostly great and today I'm heading to the Minnesota State Fair which is an annual tradition. Otherwise not much coming up. We got a puppy recently- a little puggle mutt mix and I guess we have tickets to see A Perfect Circle in November. Did anyone else catch that At the Drive-In tour this summer? Damn, what a great F***ing show. I can't believe that summer is coming to an end. Winters here in Minnesota can be brutal but at least the Timberwolves should be better this year and I'm looking forward to the Lynx winning another championship this fall. How about you Lost Sparrow- what's going on with you?
  10. This one of Highway 61 is inspired, in part, by music. Dylan; blues highway ect... although it's also inspired by road trips and the connection between northern MN and the Mississippi River. I also have a guitar with roses that Mario Desa made one me and a steal your face (grateful dead symbol) that I got in Vegas. My tattoo of red hot chili peppers is not inspired by music- that one is inspired by my love of hot peppers.
  11. Do they just carry their stuff around in a plastic grocery bag while they wait? I mean, my thinking is that if you have a need for a hand bag it means you have stuff you need to carry right now so I'm not seeing how a waiting list is a legit option here. Tattoos on the other hand... probably worth waiting if you have a specific artist you really want to get a tattoo by but also there are a lot of really excellent artists who either don't have a long wait time or specifically set aside certain days for walk ins so I guess it's up to you how long you want to wait. Either way, I suggest getting a bag that is readily available to carry your stuff to the tattoo appointment.
  12. I wish it looked more like a penis to be honest.
  13. Classic meme that makes a good point. I just wish someone would update it with a better top end tattoo. Also, I'd way rather wear the $20 lion than the $200 lion.
  14. It's worth making sure you are going to a shop that takes walk ins. Maybe call a few before hand - or maybe you can figure it out online. Otherwise, my experience is you just walk in and ask if someone is available to give you a tattoo.
  15. Before going to talk to the artist you might consider going to talk to a doctor.
  16. Blue rose for my 10th anniversary. Done by Reid Gosmire at Leviticus. My wife got a similar one done.
  17. This is easy in Minneapolis. Go to Leviticus on Lake Street. Excellent artists doing walk ins every Saturday or go in and tell someone at the desk your idea and they will help you choose an artist. Again, I am biased because I also live in Minneapolis and Leviticus is not just my favorite tattoo shop- it's one my my very favorite business in town period. Hell, now I'm jealous. There are plenty of other great tattoo shops in town so my feelings won't be hurt if your research leads you elsewhere but save yourself the trouble and go to Leviticus.
  18. Good luck all around - tattoo and child. Personally I think a rose or heart or - almost anything- with a three initial banner would be a pretty sweet tattoo for you given your desire to honor your child. I might be biased though because I have a rose with a banner that has my daughters name- or at least the three letter version. My best advice is to not over think this. Research reputable shops near you and then go there and tell them what you want and then let them design it so it will work as a tattoo. There is a non comprehensive list of tattoo shops somewhere on this site. You could look there if you are unsure how to find a reputable shop. Where are you located?
  19. Seems like you found a good artist so I would trust them if I were you. Ultimately, trusting the artist is a big part of getting a tattoo and really- at some point it's your only choice. Have fun and post the picture.
  20. I got a tattoo last Saturday too and have some crunchy spots too. I'm not too worried about that and, even if it is a problem, there is nothing you can do about it until it heals. Keep the healing process going, don't scratch when it starts itching like a son of a bitch, and look at it again in a few weeks. Seems fine to me.

    hello

Thanks for sharing that story Mark, I didn't know that about you. As for the OP- one idea could be some kind of banner tattoo (rose, heart, whatever you like) with her signature in the banner. I'm sorry for your loss and agree that future relationships will be aware that your wife remains a part of of your life tattoo or not.
  22. My shin bone would have been very interested in sedation tattooery this past weekend. Went with the more traditional post tattoo beer and food sedation therapy instead.
  23. Bring this image to a good shop and tell them that you like it but you also want to make sure you get a tattoo that works as a tattoo and then show us the cool tattoo you end up with.
