Spotted this one in Sambo's restuarant in Lincoln City Oregon. Made by Tom Slick in 1972. It was finished by Mr. Slick in Bert Grimm's Portland shop. It has held up very well. The only tattoo this gent had except for a dot on top of each of his fingers that a friend's brother did to him when he got drunk.

Picked up this fun little cowgirl from Leo Darlin (Hidden Rose Tattoo in Portland) at the Pacific Northwest Tattoo Expo here in Oregon. Sorry about the picture, cellphone camera didn't focus too well.

The first (I believe) annual Pacific Northwest Tattoo Expo is being held at a casino just 30 min. from where I recently moved to, Lincoln City Oregon. I'm hoping to pick up a little arrow-head or maybe a sugar skull from Linus O'Malley, Henry Rodriguez, BD Feldman, or one of those guys. Should be a good time.

When I see other people's tattoos, I don't usually look at them thinking "that would look better if it was reworked." I was simply observing the beauty of a tattoo that was done over 50 years ago and has been left untouched since. Tattoos obviously can be reworked, as shown above. But I enjoy seeing them like they were intended.

I haven't posted on the forum in probably over a year. I haven't been tattooed since February therefore I'm not on here. But I did manage to grab two pictures from an old Navy guy today who got these in Japan in the late 50's. The pink and blue has held up well in the pin up.

It's been a while. Went back to Mexico for a visit. Done by Juan Arreguin "El Super" at Superfly in Leon Guanajuato Mexico.

I agree, when I saw it on the flash it was one of those spontaneous things. I have seen so many dogs make the same face. I don't need any more reason to have it blasted onto my skin. :)

Done by "El Hoper" at Black Snake tattoo in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico.

It says "Oh Bury Me Not" (on the lone prairie) on the other side. By Kemer in Leon GTO Mexico

These are really awesome, I have always enjoyed seeing frog/toad tattoos in traditional pieces. Does anyone know any of the background or history in the design?

Cool story.

I have a few old ones that haven't been touched, one or two that have been reworked. I enjoy seeing some of the older "rougher" stuff next to newer work. I don't mind some of the blown out lines and washed out colors. To me it looks like a well-worn tough tattoo. Back from before they all came out looking like they were done by a robot.

I highly doubt that you are writing a novel. You have no imagination.

"Rules" on direction animals should face
Guero replied to PinkUnicorn's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I haven't watched Inkmasters before, so I have no idea who people who made that rule or "tradition" up, but I would just find a good solid tattoo artist, someone who is recommended by the fine people of this forum, and let them do it they way they desire. Do you have an artist yet? -
Some of yesterday's work, on the top parrot and bamboo from original Ed Hardy acetate. Juan Arreguin, my artist, got it from Nervio who worked in San Francisco for a long time. The next two were taken from Percy Water's book, done by Kemer Rodriguez. Done at Superfly Tattoo in Leon, Mexico.

Tomorrow I am getting my left arm tattooed to finish a cover, and also my right leg shin/inner leg done. My artist has an original Ed Hardy acetate that he is graciously willing to tattoo on me, it's of a parrot w/ bamboo. Pics to come!

That looks awesome! I had it done Monday evening, left it dry other than the shower yesterday, and today I have washed it once and put a little bit of lotion on. I'll see how it feels in the evening and might wash it again or just use a dab of lotion. So did that thing just peel? Hope mine is a peeler!
-
I probably won't do a full dry-heal, I usually only use a little bit of lotion once a day, and minimal washings. I have quite a few tattoos but still almost every time I get one, I overthink the aftercare. Only thing that stays the same with my aftercare regimen is beer!

I couldn't find a thread directly related to this topic, so I am asking, what are your thoughts/experiences with healing an elbow tattoo. I got mine done last night. My other elbow is done also, and healed decent, however it is a large piece so the focus isn't on the elbow, per-say. My new tattoo, however, is a rose right on the elbow, and draws a lot of attention so I think I am a little more self-conscious about healing it well. My artist is under the impression that dry is best, even for the elbow. What do you guys think? I will definitely take his advice, since he made the tattoo. Also, I am worried since he used red; in my experience, red heals a little "splotchy" on me. But any experience would be helpful. Thanks!

Had my elbow blasted today by Juan Arreguin "El Super" at Superfly tattoo here in Leon Mexico. No pain, no gain.

I have mainly some traditional and some neo, whatever doesn't hold up over time will probably be just blasted over eventually, although the majority will probably hold up fine.

I will be traveling to Memphis Tennessee next month and was just wondering if there is anyone there that is worth being tattooed by? I don't travel a whole lot but if there is someone there who does traditional, I would be interested. Couldn't find much information searching. If anyone knows, let me know please! Thanks

Looks good! There is no set amount of time for when a tattoo will start to peel - there are a lot of factors involved. Just keep it clean and post more pics when it's done healing!

Already posted this in this month's contest, but this was done today by Nervio from Roses and Panthers. In the States he has tattooed at Diamond Club in San Fran. He probably has the lightest hand of anyone that has tattooed me yet! Very pleased.
