I'll never understand why the community gets worked up or angry when people want 'meaningful tattoos' to commemorate events or periods in their life, I would wager the vast majority of tattoos(especially for first timers) carry some significant memory, I know mine did and I'd bet a lot of people hear are the same. Now I have some tattoos that I just liked, but tattoos being permanent reminders(good/bad) attract people. Everyone is different, like different things, like diff tattoos, get tattoos for different reasons? So what? If we all likes the same tattoos, same styles and got tattooed for the same reasons, that'd be the dumbest and most boring shit ever.

Part if me says if you don't have to cover and you do anyways because you're scared of how you'll be viewed, maybe you should reconsider getting tattoos, on the other hand if you cover in certain situations related to improving your professional career that's ok I guess, but as I grow a little older I'm at the point where I do want to work for companies/people that hold my personal choices and beliefs higher than my ability. Also if your appearance is louder then your ability to do your job, maybe working harder is in order, not only will you look better but you could spare someone else some discrimination. As far as tattoos being a secret, if you feel that way, go get them removed. Let me elaborate, being tattooed doesn't buy you into any secret club, maybe decades ago, but not now. Acting as though the ability to wear tattoos or get tattoos makes us special only makes it easier to be discriminated against, nothing to hide here.

Good for business, if the Ami's place is good then the other shops will have to step up. May the best shop and tattooers win.

Ami James just opened a new shop in Asheville, I think they may be having some kind of festival right now. I know some folks don't care for Ami, but from what I've seen he has some rad tattooers working in his shops.

I react violently to being grabbed.. No one should be grabbing you to look at your tattoos, or any other reason, don't be afraid to set that precedent.

I don't have an issue with passing down a craft or trade, I worked for my folks at that age but nothing too major.. That said, anyone who sits in the chair and knows a 7 year old is about to tattoo them gets what they deserve.. If there's no labor laws being broken and clients are cool with it, who gives a rats ass, lots of generational tradesman and craftsmen start this early.. I guess if you're a tattooer that had to work their ass of to get an apprenticeship it could/would be frustrating, but we're all dealt the hands we are dealt, this kids hand happens to be with a tattooer in the deck. At the end of the day, it really doesn't affect anyone but the people who let a kid tattoo them. I find it ridiculous that we have let price and explanation of price become a taboo and dare not discuss it but we are all up in arms about someone teaching their child to tattoo..

A close friend of mine(30 years) was in a serious forklift accident and 8 months later he ended up having a good portion of his leg amputated including his foot (a bout a week ago). A mutual friend saw some FB pics and asked what was up and after hearing the whole thing suggested we do some fundraising. So far we have an email, paypal account and FB page. We've already raised a little cash and on the 22nd some local bands are having a raffle for the cause and hopefully in May we are having true fundraiser with hopefully four bands. We are friends with members in each band. I'm pretty stoked about helping out my friend.. What I think is awesome is my buddy Steven that got hurt is into tattoos, problem is his are all bad except one which isn't great so we are planning to get him a rad tattoo!
