In this thread, we commiserate about healing our fresh tattoos.
Tesseracts replied to Pugilist's topic in Tattoo After Care
At 3 weeks my tattoo is mostly healed. But there is a single bump in the center that is persistently itchy. Nothing else is very itchy. Is this a keloid or something or is it normal? -
New to the site with a question about a healing tat!
Tesseracts replied to jgarr610's topic in Initiation
Ugh, the last thing I wanted to do was start a debate over who has the "right" to get their hand tattooed. I just wanted to know how risky it is to tattoo certain types of skin and why. I understand that not everyone needs to know everything but I like to question how things work, it's just a problem I have. I'm sorry if I'm contributing to the forces that are driving away people that actually know things. -
Uncomfortable/disempowering tattoo experiences
Tesseracts replied to Zillah's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I think some people enjoy being outside the mainstream. There's some resentment in any subculture once it becomes popular. That's understandable but I don't think the deeper parts will disappear entirely. Could be wrong though. -

Yeah this website isn't great, it's just the first place I found the images.Graeme you have a point, I'm not in a position to be getting tattoos on my fingers. -

My tattoo is nearly 3 weeks old and it still had bumps, red spots, and itchiness. On the plus side the color just keeps getting better and nothing has healed wrong as far as I can tell. -

Sorry to hijack this thread yet again but what about this stuff? Fantastic Tattoos Made from Dots. Kenji Alucky, Japan's Traveling Artist, Hits New York. I think the tattoos on the inner finger look really cool. -
I like peonies a bit better than roses, especially the Japanese kind like this. But all flowers are great.

Irezumi, I didn't know the inner finger skin was different, that's good to know. That explains why I don't see a lot of palm tattoos. I think the hand I linked to is by Jondix. I think the only ok healed inner hand tattoo I've seen is this, which is 2 years old, but I still see blowout. -

Is any tattoo on the finger is likely to blow out? What about this? Is it only if it's done by someone who doesn't know what they are doing, or is this a bad idea period? -

Uncomfortable/disempowering tattoo experiences

There's no right context for that statement, and you said it twice. I read everything in this thread, I know the full context of what you said. I agree that it's important to draw the line and I personally draw the line at people saying things like what you said twice. If you can't understand that I don't know what to tell you. -

Weather you realize it or not, a statement like "silence is consent" is bullying. -

I don't want to sound like I'm siding with the victim blaming "silence is consent" school of thought, but I have to say, I'm all for women speaking up for themselves even if their husband/brother/whatever isn't around. Most everyone will back down if you assert yourself with confidence. If you don't want to speak directly to the tattooer, that's understandable, but the manager probably deserves to hear about it. Or, you could get up and leave, and contact the police. Hell, even venting on a tattoo forum is greatly preferable to keeping it to yourself. -

Where is the downvote button?! -
I'm glad this thread is here because I'm thinking of visiting England this summer and I want to know what tattoo artists there are good. I like Claudia's work but I want to get a traditional style flower like this, should I just assume she can do that even though I haven't seen anything like it on her instagram?

I do creative stuff also. I heard some employers expect you to "look creative." If tattoos look creative it sounds like a win-win situation.

I was looking at the London tattoo convention websites and I found a couple of watercolor people that aren't terrible. Ivana Belakova on Pinterest The 10th International London Tattoo Convention 2013| Artists | Tobacco Dock | UK

Fat people with tattoos: Your thoughts
Tesseracts replied to Delicious's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I've been overweight most of my life. It's one of the reasons I've avoided getting tattoos until now. For years I was self conscious about anything that could draw eyes to me. I'm less insecure about that now. Although I'm still going to avoid getting tattoos on the larger areas until I lose weight. If I wasn't planning to lose weight I wouldn't worry about it, but I don't want skin shrinking to wreck things. Despite being American, there aren't a lot of fat people around where I live. There aren't a lot of people with visible tattoos either. I went to Disney World for the first time in my life recently, and it made me feel less weird. I saw plenty of overweight people with tattoos, and some of them were actually good. In line for a bus I saw a couple composed of a fat girl and a skinny guy. Both of them had tattoos, and the skinny guy had overweight pin up girls tattooed on his legs. I haven't had a tattoo for very long but I think I'm experiencing the same thing I've seen others describe in this thread, I care more about my health now that I have one. It's weird, it's like by putting something I value on my leg, my leg matters more. I never really understood why I wanted a tattoo until I actually got one, now I think I know why. When you put something in your skin forever, it's not only something that looks cool, it's a part of yourself. Do you know what I think the internet needs more of? Pictures of large people with tattoos. Here is a picture I took of myself to see what my tattoo looks like from a distance. It's not a good photo and the tattoo isn't healed yet, but I think it proves the world isn't going to fall apart if a large leg has a large tattoo on it. And here is me actually getting the tattoo, picture was taken by Fala. -
I think websites like this are literally written by robots. They probably have some computer program that finds popular search terms and constructs paragraphs about them along with some random images. Kind of sad but also hilarious.

Other than earlobes (I'm female so this is standard), the only piercing I've ever gotten is an industrial. I kind of want an industrial in my other ear, but it took like a year to heal and went through some odd scarring (the odd scarring is gone now) so I'm not sure I want to go through that again. I wish industrials were a little more popular, because the selection of barbells seems kind of limited. I found a couple interesting things on Etsy though. I can't see myself getting a piercing anywhere other than my ear. I like the way eyebrow piercings look, but I'm afraid it might annoy me on a visceral level to have metal in my face. Like you said it's not permanent though, so it wouldn't hurt to try some day.

I recently bought a book called Mythical Beasts of Japan. It has a few bakeneko pictures in it. I don't know if you have already seen these but I'll post them anyway. Kuniyoshi, Kyosai, Kuniyoshi, Yoshifuji. Just found this blog. It's not in English but it has a lot of good pictures of Yokai.

Not sure if Troll article or..? : University at Buffalo Op-ed
Tesseracts replied to Kev's topic in WTF in the News
At least she seems to understand that she could have written that article without insulting people. I don't understand why people act like pissing people off is a phenomenon exclusive to the internet, though. If you insult people, it makes them angry. It's common sense and it's the same offline or online. -
Jesus fucking christ. I'm looking into this guy, and as hard as this is to believe, it only gets much worse. He's a convicted violent criminal who has been running terrible internet scams for years. His current scam is basically a promise of a free hour of tattooing for anyone who writes a negative review of other tattoo shops in the area, and gives him their contact information without seeing a portfolio. Read this. I hope the police hear about this soon.
