we are leaving for Maui for 2 weeks on Monday May 2nd, we fly Alaska Air on a 737-800 which has a crew of 4 plus the 2 pilots,Alaska has great onboard service IMO btw,
the crew is always so good, we always fly first class and they treat us like royalty there.
we always like to tip them and acknowledge their hard work somehow, this trip we got the crew all Subway gift cards and the pilots Starbucks cards, enough for the return flight too.
they always are so surprised and appreciative of these thank you things we love to do.that's the real payoff for us,we have a lot of fun doing this.
everybody seems to forget this part of the service industry.so we try and do this little stuff that means a lot to them.

Dan reacted to RTHoe in Hola
Oh for sure. The reason for the "rush" is because my sister is flying out to surprise my mom for Mother's Day and she has quite a few tattoos and we always said I would get my first tattoo with her. I've been planning to get this for many years now and am finally doing it, so I'm glad it worked out to get the artist I wanted, when I wanted.
Even if I couldn't get Austin, I wasn't worried about going to anyone else at that shop based on their work and it is a pretty simple tattoo. But it all worked out in the end so pretty stoked.

honestly some of his art and tattoos are actually kind of cool,
but for me the red flag is getting tattooed in some guy's apartment.

Dan reacted to ApprenticeLife in My Samoan tatau...
As requested, here's an almost healed picture of my tatau. There were a couple spots that were pretty hard to heal, but I'm so stoked on the result. It's amazing that this was done with a couple of sticks and a huge row of needles. I have massive respect for the men that get a traditional Samoan Pe'a. I have no idea how they endure the whole process.

Dan reacted to RoryQ in " It's a good thing tattoos hurt " word from Jack Rudy .
Of course I'm glad tattoos hurt: I agree it's an integral part of keeping them for the dedicated only... Willing to sit and take it for the lifetime reward of the tattoo.
But...
I got to admit that I stopped philosophising too earnestly about the educational or self improving nature of the pain the time I got my front lined out. It wasn't a relevatory experience for me ... I just felt like I got carved up! I guess I found my personal tipping point that day.
Small tattoos, or decent pieces most places on the body... I can grin and bear it and, yes, I probably learned a thing or two about managing pain mentally. Even my back piece was pretty Ok.
But a really long sessions on a sensitive place like the torso or ribs... mostly just makes me miserable end of story. Can't make a purse from a sow's ear.

Not a big fan of scratchers. Do it properly or not at all.

Dan reacted to mmmsarah in Love my first tattoo...wondering if my bra strap will ruin it!
Wish I could show mine off more but I live in England so it's not that hot. At least my office doesn't have a dress code, I work in film and I swear half the office has tatts!

Dan got a reaction from 9Years in Love my first tattoo...wondering if my bra strap will ruin it!
IMO that's not gonna happen,if anything being kept out of the sun a tattoo will remain brighter and better looking.
I have both ankles tattooed and wear socks for work and they still look great,I think the sun will do more damage to tattoos than any piece of clothing, and like was said,a tattoo can't be rubbed off,or damaged, or degraded by straps or clothing.

I live in the hot and humid south. Gets up to 115 some summer days. AND HOLY HUMID. It's sticky and gross. Hahaha.

I work in advertising, and no one cares what I wear. I show my tattoos a lot during the summer just because it is HOT where I live. I am really glad I don't have to wear grown-up clothes, too! Today's ensemble: Grateful Dead T-shirt, harem pants, gladiator sandals. I'm all about comfort!

LOL that's not me ! !!! LOL I don't even own a dress shirt or tie or slacks ! my version of getting dressed up is a button up shirt and long pants ! LOL
.
I wear shorts and tees about 11 months a year ! even for work,I must have been a UPS driver in a past life.
too bad I have to wear shoes for work though :(
no shoes allowed any other time ! sandals only ! I think I am permanently lost in island time.
ya,I use a lot of sun block

Well, I'm just going on a couple of people I know who have to wear grown-up clothes (and dress socks) to work every day, and the tattoos on their ankles look like ass now. It may be more to do with them being shit tattoos, though. :-)

Your clothes aren't going to rub off your tattoos.

Dan reacted to wildcat in Love my first tattoo...wondering if my bra strap will ruin it!
Female here who can absolutely NOT go without a bra :)
I have tattoos on both shoulder blades, one of them I've had for almost 20 years. After healing, there is nothing that a bra strap (or any other clothing for that matter) will do to your tattoos.
Welcome to the obsession!
