Us late teen young "ladies" used to hang out at the local shop out of boredom, living in a small town without much to do. The people who worked there and the people who came in were good company. They had a lot of down time so I think they liked having us there, maybe they were being polite. One day I just decided on impulse to get one. Hadn't ever thought of it before. Went through a book of flash and chose a tribal dragon. I am now getting it covered next month after years of tattoo envy when at the beach. Side story. One day I came in the shop upset over money I owed and couldn't pay. I had a girly pity party that evidently made the guy who did my tattoo feel bad. Being ever the drama queen that I was (and still am without the lying) I made up a story about how I found out I had cancer and my family was mad that I didn't want treatment and that I was leaving town to live out the last of my days on the road. Anyway, this guy coughed up $200 to help me out. I left and paid the bill that was originally the problem and of course never went back to that shop. Years later I felt really guilty about taking advantage of this guys generosity and tried to find him. Called a number and asked if the guy on the other line used to work in a tattoo shop in my town and he said yes. I proceeded to tell him the story and how sorry I was and ask for his address so I could mail him his cash back and the guy laughed and said he wasn't him and that he said yes because he thought it was a prank. Anyway, I never did find him. I gave the $200 to a friend of mine who was hard up and I believe she has paid it forward as well. So if your out there, your money is still floating around helping people. You did a good thing.

Ok, this tattoo may have been done well but man, when I saw this on pinterest the first thing I thought was, "does that chick have a furry back?" The white ink just doesn't seem to work here.

Recognizing difficult customers

So people pay before? I guess I always assumed you pay after since the number of hours planned might not pan out. -
I find this amusing when your name is Stinkybutt

I guess I shouldn't worry about it then.

Well, if I had a cream that kept my skin constantly clear I would be using it already. My tattoo is in one month. Right now there isn't a mark on it but generally it doesn't stay that way long no matter what I do. I was hoping to get some insight from an artist on how it effects the actual process of tattooing. The advice I'm getting on how to keep myself acne free, though well intended, does not really answer my original question.

Every man should meet his beard, hipster to lumberjack.

Unfortunately I don't think I will have much choice in the matter.

I was thinking the other day. I often get a few minor pimples on my back. No major break outs or anything but I was wondering, if a get any in the days before my tattoo, how will that effect the process?

Tylenol is effective for pain and fever reduction but it is not an NSAID and does not have any anti-inflammatory effects.

Ouch, yes please, tell us where you went.

Coverup, old tattoo color bleeding through the new tattoo
KegRN replied to Colored Guy's topic in Tattoo Removal or Coverup
I have an appointment to get my tattoo covered in March. It is all black though faded. I have been trying to find pictures online of healed coverups so I can get an idea of how well black can be covered but mostly they are all fresh tattoos. One I saw someone had covered black with white and I know that isn't going to look good healed. Anywhere that I can find healed pictures of cover ups? Do any of you have solid black covered up? -
I would also like to say thank you for your service to our country.

If I have to hear the word consistency again, I may go deaf

I have been looking at a lot of Alphonse Mucha, R. Atkinson Fox, and Maxfield Parish lately.

Silly but do you think this will work / be do-able
KegRN replied to mr2essions's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
I would think it would need to be covered by something a little busier, I think it would still show through if it was covered in solid black. I'm not an artist but most of the good cover ups I have seen hide it in something with a lot of details that draw the eye away. -
Sigh, I really shouldn't come on here when it's time for bed. I want to stay up and look through Arthur Rackham galleries now...

Hey, thanks! Alphonse Mucha's art makes beautiful tattoos. They are some of my favorites.

Are there any none tattoo related art or artists that influence the style or subject matter for your tattoos?

HAHA, I would think it would be the opposite, people WITH tattoos having the rawhides. -
I Like how the skeleton on Mr. Cool Ice looks like it is posing for Cover Girl. "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" (Ya I know that was Pantene, but it fits.)

Do the moderators close down threads per our request?

Well, I guess it would just be more advertisement for him, which couldn't hurt right? His name is Steve LaMantia

Umm, I don't know what's kosher with you guys. Is there any chance he would be irritated being named on here? Maybe when I post the finished project I'll say. - - - Updated - - - And that poor little tribal dragon can die a slow death. I hate it.
