Thanks Shane -
I got tattooed off Steve too, Steve Delgatto, and he is still tattooing for sure, usually from his house since Tonys closed and sometimes at Mike Schweigerts in Bradley Beach I think. That NY Tattoo book is a great book.

I'm fairly sure Ronnies is in Stroudsburg in Pa. I went there to visit him last year. He was sittin in there middle of the day waitin for business. He had a new set of flash just painted for the Philly con. and has lots of great old photos from over the years. Well worth a visit if enyone is ever in the vicinity. Ronnie tattooed my friends girl recently and the tattoo was beautiful, real nice. He is a real character and a gentleman.

Lance Mc Clain is still goin strong in Hawaii, my mate just got tattooed off him. Danny Romo is still doin 3 days at least at Shamrock in Hollywood for the real old East LA style. Phil Bond is probably still tattooing in Torquay England with 2 of his sons, he always did great tattoos. And Dennis Cockell has a new shop in Soho in London and is there all week, Dennis painted some of the nicest tattoo flash ever, most of it is still in the shop in Walkers Court that Darryl Gates has now. There are a lot of real good tattooers with 30 years in still tattooing today, sitting in shops waiting for ya to walk in and get something put on you.

Kevin Killeens old shop on the quays in Wexford Ireland. This shop was right on the harbour, the boats came in 20 feet away. This tattoo is by Kevin as well. He was doin this kind of Dave Lum crazy psychedelic mushroom stuff independently here in the 80s and 90s.

If you have face tattoos you need to get a job where you wear a ski mask to work. Or 1 in a coalmine -

I am amazed people care so much about this. Tattoos don't have the power they used to have, thats all I know. Used to be all ya needed was a panther on yer arm to make u unemployable, now u need a face tattoo.

Mike Brown was a good man and a good tattooer till the end. I am glad I got to work with him and get tattooed by him and learned how do do proper script from him. He wrote the nicest Saoirse I'd ever seen and I still use it. He was also the kinda fella who would always send people your way and knew the value of a proper introduction. He did some brilliant flash, proper fine line black n grey style.. and some of the best gangster cartoons goin. God bless him. R.I.P.

How about Mike Perfettos in Bensonhurst, Goldfields in SF, Kadillac Tattoo in Philadelphia, Crazy Eddies in Philadelphia, Tattoo Peters in Amsterdam, all great shops that have been around a long time and are crammed with tattoo history. R and D tattoo in Queens is floor to ceiling with hand painted NY style flash. These shops have been worked and are steeped in tattoo mojo. On a Monday Shamrock in Hollywood has Mark Mahoney, Freddy Negrete and Rick Walters, thats over 100 years of tattooing there and its a great lookin shop. Spotlight in Hollywood is another great shop with real character and a waiting room with 4 walls of hand painted Bob Roberts flash. Bert Grimms on the Pike R.I.P. was the benchmark for all tattoo shops and when I went in there I knew there was no way I was leavin without gettin tattooed.
