@Gingerninja Who's doing yours in March? A friend of mine got a Conn girl back in August just before he moved to Germany, and it's stunning. Throwing it in here.

Question about line work on tattoo
suburbanxcore replied to marfil98's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I think it looks fine and wouldn't worry about it at all. As I said in the other thread when you initially asked, I woulda loved to see you go bigger with it, but it's a rock solid start to a chest/front. -

Full Back Piece Experience Thread
suburbanxcore replied to gougetheeyes's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
@9Years I started drafting an imaginary consultation discussion ("hey, lemme get a jesus on the cross backpiece, but give him boobs and a panther head"), but every time I look at that tattoo I see something else new. I can't wait to see that as it progresses. Walter has some really awesome prints on Raking Light Projects right now that I almost bought. Went with a Freddy Jesus head, but may still scoop one up. -
I would agree that Martin Lacasse is absolutely killer at everything he does. A real tattooers tattoo and criminally underrated in either traditional or Japanese. Pretty much everyone in that shop (Jay Goldberg, Gus, Johnny Gues, Scott Smith, etc) would knock out a traditional piece like that. Check out @oldecitytattoo on IG. They don't post a ton, but you can follow to each artist and check em out. Topper at Eddies does great work, as mentioned. I love most of what Pat Haney does. He's a little slicker than what you may be looking for, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with him. He's also opened up a new shop that's a little farther from where you're mentioning, but nothing crazy. Dave Fox is out in the suburbs now. His name isn't the first that comes to mind for this style, but traditional stuff is really underrated. He doesn't put a lot of it out there, but it's solid. Aaron Francione seems fine (I'm not too familiar with him), but I'm just not much of a fan of a lot of what Seven Swords is doing. Although I did recently see a Carlos Perez lady head that I liked.

More bendy chrome, please.

Totally agree, and I will likely end up with at least one more. I'd love to get one from Paul Dobleman, as I think he crushes them.

Welcome. I'm from outside Philly, and it's good to have some other people from the area on here.

@Machcekborrach are you in the Philly area?

I have a death's head moth from Oliver Peck on my thigh, probably about 5-6 inches across. As HettyKet said, I think it's a bit small for a chest piece, but you and your artist could take a look at it on your particular build/frame and see from there. If you can tie it in or add filler to your shoulders, all the better in my opinion. Edit: I recently added a pic of mine in the squidpants thread.

@havetsherre I absolutely love his dragons. The faces have this almost Disney quality that I like. I know that sounds like an insult, but it's not at all.

Funny to see this thread pop up. The other night I saw a buddy who had his back outlined by Whitehead when he was in Chicago. Unfortunately due to travel/email miscommunication/timing/etc, it's still just an outline years later. Kind of a bummer to see. Hopefully someday he gets it finished.

Tattoo of the Month December 2016 - SKULLS
suburbanxcore replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
So many awesome submissions already. Holy crap. -
I have lyrics from Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker, and Minor Threat on me. The HWM ("Live your heart and never follow") and Jawbreaker ("Yell it out before it kills you") are a little longer than I would go now. I got them when I was pretty young, and they're a little cluttered. I still love them, but I wish I'd approached them a little differently. The Minor Threat one is just "Out of Step" in a banner around a dagger/rose. I'm pretty sure it's in my gallery.

Things like records (perfect circles) and guitars (lots of straight and parallel lines) are never going to look perfect on a body. Even the guitar you're referencing looks curved in that pic, even though it's a solid tattoo. It just happens. Sometimes they way we look down at things distorts our view, too. Just work with the artist on placement and trust their judgment. Look at the stencil from a few different angles, in a mirror, from a distance, etc and you'll find the way to distort it the least.

Give it time. Different inks, different techniques, and different parts of the body will all heal differently. Update us in a bit when it fully heals. Cool tattoo.

Tattoo of the Month starting November 1st
suburbanxcore replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
All good calls. I hadn't really thought about reapers. I also like "weird stuff" and would be curious with almost something that open. I'm not religious at all, but I think Jesus heads or Virgin Marys could be cool. I'd love to see the namakubi tattoos people. Hand tattoos (on hands, not of hands). Rose morphs. Eagles. Rock of ages. Mandalas / geometry -
I would say this sounds like the best course of action. They could hopefully help you more than we could. If they can't, you may be able to talk to a tattoo removal person (specialist? professional? I don't know the term). Perhaps they'd have an idea. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So fillers has been mentioned. Since I'm bored, what do we think are some other possible categories? Let's give @Iwar some suggestions! -
@Machcekborrach That's awesome; please keep us posted on progress. His tigers are so awesome. The one he did on the True Love doc made me fall in love with them years ago. I'm really thinking about having him do my stomach as well with a tiger and a snake fighting. The fact that you say he's fast makes me think that might be a good thing for the belly.
