  1. A little in-progress shot my wife posted on Instagram of the peony on her elbow from Martin Lacasse at Olde City Tattoo. You can see the back of the snake as well. That's also the first peony that bloomed in our yard this spring. Here's an in-progress shot he posted of the snake. From @lacassetattoo. Finally, here's the ditch peony.
  2. Here's my right leg, taken post run (#shortshorts). Slowly chipping away at it. I'm starting my right leg with Grez in July and (hopefully) Scott again. Rose and dagger - Scott Sylvia Blue crab - Todd Noble Wolf and genie lamp - Ron Henry Wells Cats - Grez Pineapple - Drew Rash Lilacs and mom banner - Keith Reed (unpictured, but posted in latest tattoo lowdown recently)
  3. Welcome. I'm from Ardmore, not too far away. I'll have to check out a website or instagram or something.
  4. If my wife wasn't in bed watching last night's Game of Thrones, I'd have her snap some shots. Taking pics of your own calves is pretty tricky. Haha. Tomorrow I guess.
  5. That rules @Haysman. Brian Bruno is definitely on my list.
  6. Yeah, for years I just used plain white lotion. About a year ago I started using Aquaphor for the first three days and my healing has been so much better.
  7. Welcome. Being in Oakland/SF, you have a veritable playground of tattoo shops at your fingertips!
  8. @hdmark Go to Martin Lacasse at Olde City Tattoo. Get a badass dragon from a criminally underrated tattooer without a crazy wait. Be stoked.
  9. See! That's a badass turnip. Also, @CultExciter, every time I see that wolf, I love it a little bit more. So awesome.
  10. Because the easiest way to make a tattoo tougher is to put a dagger in it!
  11. I'll have to check out his work. Everything I've seen and heard about Hot Stuff is full of raving. Good luck and enjoy the ride!
  12. When my wife got her foot done, she was laughing at a friend who had said how shitty it was. She thought he was referring to the actual pain while getting tattooed. She realized the next day how crappy the healing was. She wishes she'd done both at once (like her best friend did) to just get all of the healing/swelling/limping done at once. Of course, she is glad she has her other foot free for a Monmon cat. Follow the tips from everyone above and you'll be fine. Hell, I had a foot injury for the better part of the last year, and I'm regretting not getting mine tattooed while I wasn't running six days a week. I may actually get them done a few days after my next marathon. I figure I'll be limping anyway, so why not?
  13. I just had my first beach weekend of the year. I don't care about tanning or "laying out" or whatever, but I could read and sleep on the beach all day. And I love to swim and body surf and whatnot. I just constantly apply sunscreen SPF50 and above. I'll have to look into some of these 100+ ones and this badger sunscreen or whatever that was.
  14. @BrianH, once it's done I'll post some. The brown snake that he posted on IG (@lacassetattoo) about two weeks ago shows a bit of it.
  15. My wife has been cranking out sessions with Martin Lacasse on her arm every 2-3 weeks. I'm getting jealous. All my appts are still so far away.
  16. I recently read that book with my seventh graders. I should show them this. Haha.
  17. @junior, I'm not sure how many replies it's going to take for you to get it, but tattoos aren't going to last forever and they're not going to look perfect forever. You have to accept that going in. If you don't, as multiple people have said, a tattoo is not for you. Use your "life savings" or $500 that you mentioned in the other thread and spend it on something else.
  18. It all depends, and some artists do and some don't. I have had one artist take a deposit via Paypal. I always offer, even if they don't specifically ask for it.
  19. I agree. I definitely prefer a shorter jaw and more of a snarl as well. That tattoo is awesome.
  20. That dragon fucking rules. You could put almost anything next to it and it'd be awesome.
