For the first time, I saw tattoos I recognized from Instagram in public (and in a non-tattoo setting like a convention or shop). I was walking down the boardwalk in OCMD and saw a kid with the back of his calves done by Civ. They were two of my favorite tattoos, so it was cool to actually see them. I guess it was bound to happen. I wish I'd had the chance to talk to the kid about them, but it was pretty crowded and I only noticed them in passing.

Pretty much. In his email, he told me he was hoping to plan a trip to Kings Ave sometime in the fall.

That rules. Steve Byrne definitely tattooed his ass off all weekend. Almost everyone else I walked past had downtime at some point, but he was constantly busy.

I've posted em in a few different threads, but why not one more? Haha. I got these done by Grez at King's Avenue Tattoo.

Cash was definitely king since the ATM in the hotel lobby ran out of money on Saturday afternoon. I went up yesterday with @huggernaut. Neither of us were getting tattooed, but a few friends were. It was a great time. It was reallllly small, especially compared to the conventions I'd been to in the past, but that worked to its advantage. So many heavy hitters all in one room putting down serious work. The Kings Avenue booth was packed to the gills in the middle row and everything I saw them put out was dope. A back wall was lined by Ron Wells, Chad Koeplinger, Steve Byrne, Tony Hundahl, Marina Inoue, and a few from Inksmith and Rodgers (among others). I had friends get tattooed by Ron, Grez, Chris Stuart, and others. I had won $100 from their IG contest, so Justin was nice enough to know who I was coming in, catch me, and get that all situated. Since my appt with Scott fell through, I spent it on the With The Light of Truth book and a shirt at King's Ave. And some cookies at Vegan Treats! All in all, the convention was great, and I hope it becomes a regular thing! I saw @chrisnoluck's tattoo in the other thread. Did anyone else go? Thoughts?

Holy hell, @exume. I saw that on IG as well and was blown away. Figures it's someone on here.

I'll be there Sunday, but I think just hanging out. Was planning on getting tattooed by Scott Sylvia again, but he had to postpone his trip east. Oh well. Next time. It'll still be fun to head up this weekend and check shit out.

My buddy (@huggernaut) has a folk bird from Mario. (I believe it's in his gallery). I'm hit or miss on them, but the ones I like I absolutely love.

@Hospitelli A little bit, but not too much. He is never at a shortage of words to tell me how much he hates Cliff Lee, though! I have an idea of something I want Brian Bruno to do on me. I've gotta wait a while though to have the time and money. Pretty much the next year is tied up in getting my left arm done by Grez.

@Hospitelli that rules. Brian Bruno's stuff is so sick. That tiger he posted on Instagram this AM had me drooling first thing.

Now that this is (mostly) healed up, here is my latest from Grez. What do you do when you love Catholic imagery but haven't gone to church since you were a kid? You throw the best mascot in sports in a virgin Mary shroud. Grez is a big baseball fan, so he took the idea and ran with it, including adding the Liberty Bell in place of the sacred heart. Edit: he also did those cats last fall. They've settled in nicely.

@OutOfIdeas Haha. I grew up about ten minutes from that Pepperidge Farms factory. Good stuff. Haha, enough thread hi-jacking about my hometown. After getting tattooed two days in a row and getting shit set up for my arm in January, I'm done for a few months!

In addition to the tattoo I got from Grez today, I'm getting tattooed at my local/regular shop (X-Treme Ink in West Chester, Pa) by Keith Reed tomorrow! After that I think I'm done until January.

I'm gonna wait til I get a better pic to post, but Grez did the whole back of my leg today. Topped off with the back of my knee. One of the longer sessions I've had in a few years, but it was totally worth it. We also got to talk a little bit about my left arm, which he'll be sleeving starting in January.

Might try this Mikey's Burgers place before my appointment at Kings Ave, unless anyone else has any good lunch suggestions in the area... Or maybe I'll just eat a bunch of pastries from Dominique Ansel.

I have no respect for anyone that likes apples. Those are snacks that second graders eat. I mean, you don't even have to peel an apple. Where's the skill in that? Seriously, explain to me why I should like apples!
