The Action Bronson record has killer moments, but falls flat as a whole album for me. I need to check out Turnover and the new Torche and Deafheaven records that people mentioned. A friend of mine has been raaaaaving about Turnover, and I always like Torche but never fully invest. They blew me away live in a house a few years back. The previous Deafheaven record took me by surprise, so who knows? In some particular order: Touche Amore and Self Defense Family (collab record) - Self Love Blacklisted - When People Grow, People Go The Wonder Years - No Closer to Heaven Desaparecidos - Payola Beach Slang - The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us Pet Symmetry - Pets Hounds Dr. Dre - Compton mewithoutYou - Pale Horses Kyle Kinane - I Liked His Old Stuff Better

With the risk of derailing this thread, aren't tattoos often both?
-
I don't know how it took me so long, but I'm just now finding @japanesecollective. The takeover that Juni is doing right now is awesome.
-
@Padji I love that mandala/flower on your foot. I've been kicking around the idea of something like that on one of my knees. Very cool.
-
@cibo Somehow I missed this! And as the owner of a similar Scott snake and rose, I must say that that's incredible! Awesome life choices.

I know the Conn influence has been discussed a bit in here, and it's undeniable, but lately I've been really enjoying Adam Warmerdam's lady heads a ton. I know he was mentioned earlier, but I feel like he gets overlooked sometimes. Either way, it's always great to reskim this thread.

My local artist, Keith Reed, is putting a moth on my left thigh next week to (sort of) pair with the one Oliver Peck put on my right thigh over the summer. We haven't mapped out specifics yet, but it will be based off of some Spider Murphy's flash. In February I'm planning a trip to LA to visit a friend, and we're looking at some matching "bro tats" while I'm out there. It may end up being a walk in job, but also going to potentially call around to a few shops in advance.

Los Angeles - Who are the best artists in town?

Good to know. Sometimes you have these ideas about shops as hard to get into, but it turns out wait lists aren't bad or walk ins are plentiful. And sometimes it's the opposite. Haha. Just figured I'd see if anyone had experience. Thanks, @daveborjes. -

Anyone know of the likelihood of a good walk in shop in LA? Obviously there are some killer shops, but I'm not 100% sure how my trip is going to go. I know Dark Horse and Spotlight etc are great, but I don't know about availability. I'll probably call as it gets closer, but trying to get a little guidance first. I'll be flying out in February. -
I'll have to check out @support_good_tattooing and @thebesttattooartists. I'll echo what was said about @americanatattoos and some of the neat old history things they post. Really cool. I've said it before, I'm constantly impressed with the collections that @ivarro is finding to post on @livedintattoos. I'm humbled that he even asked me, because every Sunday I'm jealous of the tattoos that people are posting. Whenever I think a collection can't be topped, someone else pops up and crushes it.

Looking for some ideas
suburbanxcore replied to Michael J Goldman's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
Agreed. It doesn't have to be glaringly obvious to anyone but you. For example, my mom always had this purple porcelain flower on a bookshelf in our house as a young kid. I got a small bunch of lilacs on my leg as a little tribute. Haha, she also used to have a ton of little pig statues around the house. I thought about getting the traditional Sailor Jerry pig design with a mom banner, but thought that it might send a weird message. I went with flowers instead. -
July 2015 Tattoo of the Month Contest

Does my tattoo ever get added to the ToTM gallery for the front page? :p -
Awesome. Welcome. I can't check either of those links at work, but I will. I spent two weeks in Portugal a few years back and fell in love with the country. I wish I'd had to opportunity to get tattooed there! Haha.

Marc Nava is definitely on my short list.
-
@Wedge Awesome. Grez is an amazing artist and an even better dude. Every tattoo I have from him gets stares.
-
He's moving back and will be starting at Studio One in Norwood soon.

He lives up in Westchester and was sort of working up there at a different shop as well I believe. I think that's what he's doing all the time now. He was in the KA booth at Pagoda City and we chatted a bit, but he said that was really just to help out for the weekend.
-
That's on Travis who used to work at KA, and at Ed Hardy weekend, him, Chuck, Frankie, and one guy who is a regular client/friend there took a pic with their backs from O'Donnell, Boltz, Roper, and Rubendall, respectively. The pic is floating around out on the internet, and it's insane. Found it: https://instagram.com/p/2xAecHsNc9/?taken-by=chuckdtattoos

@cibo I posted my snakes and roses from Scott a few pages back, and I love yours. The black rose is so nice.

On a punk/hardcore forum I posted on way back in college, all the dudes who grew up and went to shows in Philly were all uppity about kids from the suburbs going to shows and how "they just didn't understand hardcore" or "didn't really represent Philly" or whatever. I thought it was corny and registered the username suburbanxcore. It's been like 12-13 years now and it's my name for most anything digital.

Hey guys, long time no post. I just realized I never posted my two latest because I wanted to wait until they were both healed. Not the best pics, but you get the idea. Cobra by Scott Sylvia done at Pagoda City Convention. Drawn on in 15 minutes, outlined in about an hour. Scott is the absolute best. We had originally talked about him doing all of the black in Reading then the color in the fall, but he had the time so we just powered through. It was another great experience being tattooed by him, and I can't say enough great things. Death's head moth by Oliver Peck while guesting in Philadelphia at Kadillac Mt. Airy. Another pleasure. Oliver was so down to earth and easy to talk to, just like you'd expect. He only did three or four tattoos that day, and I was lucky it happened to be the last week before school started and I could squeeze in after cross country practice (the only heavily tattooed coach in the world, I think). He checked out a ton of my tattoos and even took his shirt off to show me his stomach from Scott, his side from Rassier, and his back from Trevino. So awesome. Not the best photos, but it's what I have. Also, I was not expecting to have nearly this much pink on my legs, particularly from Scott and Oliver, but here we are.

I'm in this same boat. It's been just over a month since I last got tattooed and I have nothing on the books anywhere. It's so strange!
