@jnin That rules! I have a snake with roses from Scott, and you definitely can't go wrong with them. That rose is a little different than what you often see out of him, and it's absolutely killer. Also, who did that girl head underneath? I've got a guess or two...

2016 BAY AREA TATTOO CONVENTION
suburbanxcore replied to Dan's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
@Hands On Thanks for all the great pictures. I'm pretty sure that Hooper piece was hanging at that show at Somatic Gallery back in August. His pieces were different than I expected, but very awesome. -
Very nice stuff. Welcome!
-
@Machcekborrach Awesome. Do you have pics of what you have so far? Brian Bruno is so awesome, and I think incredibly underrated. I'd love to have him to my back or my stomach.

Finishing up my knee with Grez tomorrow night. Well, hopefully finishing.

Cor Mysterium Volume 1

Same with @ItsNewport. After getting tattooed this Friday, my "fun" budget will be way wiped out. -
Tattoo of the Month November 2016 - PANTHERS
suburbanxcore replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
If anyone wonders why they should "put a panther on it," they need to be directed to this thread. -
That namakubi absolutely rules, as expected.

Background could be cool, but I think you have enough space under that bicep for another decent piece in there before getting to that point. "Just put a panther on it."

Tattoo of the Month November 2016 - PANTHERS
suburbanxcore replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
So glad the contest is back, but amazingly, I don't have a panther yet. I've been saving my big panther for a cover up, but I don't see that coming any time soon. I'm pretty picky with my panthers, though. I can't wait to see some of these. -
@oboogie Regardless of what you apparently think, you have no bearing on my digital world. I have literally replied to you in one thread prior to this one. In this instance, I was addressing a three page thread and said absolutely nothing about or to any of your comments. I've been here for years and have never made it my style to call people out or anything of the sort. Feel free to check any of my posts. Additionally, It's also hard to not comment on threads you post in - you post in almost every thread.

I treat the internet exactly the same way I try to live my "real life." If I don't have anything nice to say, I really try not to say anything at all. Also like "real life," I do my best to ignore idiots. If I see a thread from a by a poster I don't particularly like or don't know or I see that they're the most recently reply, I skip it (or save it for true boredom). I don't have to read everything on here just because it's there. And I sure as shit don't have to reply to it just to hear my own digital voice. Just because I (think I) have pretty ok tattoos doesn't mean I can talk down to someone who has crappy tattoos. It doesn't mean I'll be high fiving them or whatever someone said, but I'm not here to shit all over clowns online, either. It seems there are a few people on here lately who think they're the gatekeepers to either good tattooing or this website, when in reality they're just a joker with a keyboard and some tattoos. Back to mostly browsing the lowdown, upcoming, and contest threads almost exclusively.

These are both a year or more old at this point, but I never actually put them in this thread. The death's head moth was done by Oliver Peck when he guested at Kadillac Tattoo Mt. Airy (Philadelphia) last summer. Not the best picture, but he ended up slipping a lot of hot pink in there that wasn't at all what I'd expect from him. In the end, I loved it and was happy with how it came out. Getting tattooed by Oliver is as great as you'd expect. I had just gotten my shin done by Scott the week before and mentioned in our emails; Oliver came barging in yelling, "Lemme see that Scott tat!" right off the bat. After we were done, he actually took his shirt off and showed me a ton of his tattoos from Scott, Trevino, Rassier, Stell, etc. So fucking awesome. The torch moth was done by Keith Reed at X-Treme in West Chester, PA shortly after they moved to their new location. This was a "thank you" tattoo for helping them move. Keith is the best. Just an every day, no-bullshit, hard-working tattooer. Without him, I wouldn't know shit about tattoos. Not the best pic in the world, but @Dan and I were chatting back and forth and I realized I should probably upload em. Once that Grez knee you can see half done gets finished, I'll hit up the squidpants thread.

The Definitive American Tradtitional Tattoo Thread
suburbanxcore replied to otisc's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I really like that, @Dan. In some ways it's exactly what I'd expect from Oliver, and in some ways very different, which is what happened when he tattooed me too. -
@Rob I I'm sure you've posted it before, but I forget. Who did that ditch rose and that underarm reaper (RHW?)? Both so nice. And I love that Lacasse dragon. That dude is so underrated.

I had a fair number of snarky replies drafted, but figured I'd bite my tongue. To tie into that "state of the union" thread or whatever, I will say that this is exactly the type of reply that is pushing me away from this board the way I used to. You have three people discussing tattoos/their significance and a topic that apparently in no way involves you, then you feel the need for a passive aggressive comment because you don't like that OP's posts. As you said in that thread, "So damn weird."
-
@marley mission Yeah, that frog you got from him rules so much. I'm the opposite of you. I got tattooed by him down in DE, but would love to travel up to MA.
-
From everything I've seen and read, definitely can't go wrong with Tattoo Paradise. Depending on where in Maryland, Todd Noble and Right Coast in Fenwick Island (when he's there and not up in Mass) is also killer. I also get a huge kick out of @marley mission's punctuation. Sometimes it's dashes, sometimes it's ellipses, sometimes it's whole new lines. You're like the ee cummings of Last Sparrow!

I mayyyyyy have reached my limit of bird feet / talons on this last go 'round.

Rob Ryan interview...
suburbanxcore replied to marley mission's topic in Tattoo TV Shows, Documentaries and Media
Just seeing this now, but can't listen yet. Is it Tim Kinsella from Capn Jazz, Owls, etc (Chicago native)? -
I wish I could agree with @sophistre on the healing, but alas I agree with @marley mission and @bongsau. I have the lower part of my quads done, with matching (in size, not design) moths/butterflies. Both of them scabbed like fucking crazy right down the center body portion of them. At first I thought it was just the one Oliver did because it was heavy black, but the one my local artist did scabbed like crazy, too. Both ultimately healed and look fine, but they were pretty gnarly for a while. @cibo and I'm pretty sure we've discussed this, but as someone with a big ass snake and roses from Scott, I fucking love that tattoo.

@Synesthesia for sure, man. It's not for everyone. For me, it was something I always sort of lived by, but almost not intentionally until late high school. As I got older and more of my friends got into heavy drinking, harder drugs, dealing, dying, etc, I just knew it was better for me. Plus, my mother's family has a pretty serious issue with alcoholism, so I always wanted to avoid that. That all said, I'm actually one of very few people in any of my social circles ever that is/was straight edge, and I've never been one to preach at all. At this point in my life, I'm 33 years old and don't ever see my edge status changing. I don't know if anyone remember's that website How's Your Edge, but that was always their first interview question. Mine is still sharp as fuck. @Charles.M Thanks for starting this thread. Wish there was a bit more to it. Haha.

Tattoo of the Month starting November 1st
suburbanxcore replied to Iwar's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
Hahaha, I thought that exact same thing this morning. With as much as everyone tells everyone else to get a panther, that would be a great start. Or sparrows/swallows, since it is Last Sparrow.
