  1. What a simple idea that is so hard to follow a lot of times, not just for tattoos, but things in general. I like this.
  2. But I mean, I have to admit I laughed out loud at that tattoo.
  3. @chyden89I'm sure I've posted it somewhere in this thread, but lower leg tattoos are a real rough heal for me, even from artists I've gotten incredibly easy healing tattoos from in other locations. Two weeks is a little long, but not crazy for me in terms of leg tattoos. Scale back on your lotion, keep it clean, and be patient. Edit: somehow missed this last page about swelling. When I got my shins done, it looked like I got hit by a bat for quite a while. I'd also recommend the ibuprofen and elevation, if possible.
  4. I use Dove for my tattoos (just plain, white Dove) and have had no problems with any healing. I also back the "leave it alone" or "let it breathe" method for the most part. Two days of keeping it clean and very light applications of Aquaphor in the AM and at night before bed. Then just plain white Aveeno used sparingly until flaking/cracking/scabbing/whatever passes. I would also discourage the re-wrap, as a lot of people have said. I take my initial wrap off after a few hours and have never rewrapped a tattoo.
  5. @Howie I wish I could double like that for the Ron Swanson gif.
  6. That Great Lakes walk up event is going to be so awesome. I'm jealous that I don't live in Chicago!
  7. @newbie321 check out some of the threads on traditional tattooing. Recently, this one has seen a little bit of play: I would find examples of what you like, whether that's subject matter or artist or both, and bring that to an artist or reputable shop. Tell them your idea and what you're looking for. Talk with them and explain that you like a strong solid outline, bold colors, and a crisp look to the overall tattoo. You should also be able to tell via their portfolio in the shop and their instagram if you're in the right place stylistically.
  8. Nothing special about it, just the sign of a good artist that knows what they're doing. For that second one, check out Great Lakes Tattoo. Not that they likely couldn't knock out something like that flower, but it's a whole stable of guys crushing bold, "crisp," traditional.
  9. Welcome. Feel free to ask your question here. Lots of new questions get answered in the initiation threads. You're not going to be able to start a new thread until you have at least ten replies to other threads. Let's be honest, the answer to your question is probably "Put a panther on it," "shove a dagger through it," or "go talk to your artist." Check out the following guidelines for contributing. https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/guidelines/
  10. I don't think you can ever go wrong with a snake and roses, but it seems like you have a few ideas already. When you see your artist, float those by him. See what he recommends or hit his strong suit. A big ass ship on the other side would complement the anchor well, in my opinion. Sidenote: You might want to rethink the hand idea just for a minute, too. A hand tattoo is a big statement and commitment, and you're just starting this journey.
  11. Well, speaking of Scott, here is my shin/almost entire lower leg. It wraps in a way that makes it really hard to get a good shot. Done in one shot at the Pagoda City Convention in 2015. I'm posting from work and Photobucket is blocked, so hopefully these pics work out. Also, it should be noted that @embers and @graybones TOTM winning snakes are two of my favorite snake tattoos. They're incredible.
  12. I think I posted it in my Ed Hardy art show recap in the Ed thread, but I have a great shot of my buddy's classic Ed gorilla with bloody eyes. Photobucket is blocked here at work, so I'll have to check this weekend. edit:
  13. A fantastic dagger that's only going to look better as you add more around it and finish up that back! Glad to see it getting put on at Pagoda and now healed and settled in. So nice. I don't know if I ever told him my arm from him won. Pass that on too. What a fantastic dude. I miss seeing him and Dylan regularly.
  14. Put on by Eric Perfect May 6-7, 2017 at the Fillmore in Philadelphia @prestige_tattoo_convention on Instagram Some names so far: Nick Collella Tim Beck Topper Nick Caruso Sailor Eddie Greg Christian Eric Inksmith Bert Krak Tony Hundahl Scott Sylvia Mike Wilson
  15. Cool. I'll take a look at that IG when I get a chance tonight! Some of Chad's stuff isn't always my style (shhhh, don't let anyone hear me say that too loudly), but that thing freaking rules.
  16. @Synesthesia Is that panther/rose from him too? Can you post a pic of that or DM me? Looks awesome. I've never heard of that shop, but I also don't spend much time in the York area.
  17. @real meta That's awesome! Was that at Eastern Pass? I wanted to try and book with him while he was in town, but I'm beyond broke right now. Haha.
  18. Welcome. While I agree that it's slow, hopefully you are happy with your tattoo. To me, that is way more important than the time it took. While it's amazing that some artists are insanely fast, some others just aren't.
  19. If you were happy with Myra, it certainly makes sense to go back to her. Although there are plenty of the Inksmith dudes in your area that could also knock out a killer tattoo. But yeah, I'm sure she or anyone could make it work size-wise. A more concrete idea could help give you and them some guidance, but you can sculpt it to fit a bit a lot of different ways. I wouldn't say I have similar tattoos in most spots, but I have a few sort of symmetrical ones done by the same artist and he made it work perfectly. I do have two different moths/butterflies in symmetrical spots. The second artist took a tracing of the first and then worked with that for his drawing.
  20. If anyone has anything to add, feel free to post up some links. I recently moved into a new place with a lot of wall space to fill up and not nearly enough art to do it.
  21. @Gingerninja Drawing it on and tattooing time were about 1:15 total. Fast as hell.
