Pagoda City 2018
suburbanxcore replied to suburbanxcore's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions
Dan Sinnes is an absolute wild man. A friend got tattooed by him last year. Can't wait to see what people come away with this year. @Gingerninja what's the plan from Grez? -

Nice. I'm in a similar boat. Both times he's tattooed me he's just drawn it on anyway, so I'm not too worried about it. I sent him three ideas I've been kicking around and then ended with "I don't know, or you can just do some big ass animals fighting?" We'll see what we both end up with!! Excited to see what ya get, @Synesthesia! -
I wish I had experience getting tattooed by Regino. His shit is bulletproof.
-
He definitely seems super fun. He was hilarious in the Denning episode, too.

I'm actually amazed, but I was able to get decent runs in after getting my knees tattooed. The other day I did a 15 miler the morning after getting my thigh tattooed. I was pleasantly surprised. But if it's sore, definitely makes sense to err on the side of caution.

Definitely makes total sense. If you’re there, it’d be great to catch up. Haven’t seen you in forever! I know a few other people mentioned they’d be there. -
August 3-5 at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading, PA http://www.pagodacitytattoofest.com/ You know the deal at this point. Let's get a semi-official list of who will be there and when. Maybe who's tattooing you if you know already. Potential hangs? Me - will be there Friday and possibly Saturday. Scott Sylvia appointment late Friday.
-
My daughter looooooves mermaids, and somehow I still don't have one yet. That may be happening fairly soon. In my case, I'd probably be goin breasts covered. Nothing opposed to uncovered, but I don't think that's a discussion I feel like potentially having regularly.

I always say that I'll be getting my hands done the day I retire. Only 22 years to go...

Book with Scott Sylvia to one shot my stomach at Pagoda City. Last appointment of the day on Friday, "so we don't have to rush." Have a few ideas for what I want him to do, but still have to settle that.
-
Follow up: Emailed Scott about my stomach and he replied with "I'm totally in." He hasn't started booking yet, but we'll figure that out in the very near future. Hopefully a few of us can meet up! @Gingerninja - What kinda chaos do you have lined up for that weekend? yet. @Bearcat78 daaaaamn. Goin for it! @Boiled Dove I had a few free weekends not long ago and wanted to drive down to Absolute while Marina was there, but she was only doing weekdays. Hopefully you can get something!

Called an artist who had been on my bucket list for a while and left multiple voicemails to no reply, so putting a pin in that one for a while. Shot an email to Scott hoping to get my stomach started/done at Pagoda City now that I was able to free that weekend up. Didn't realize the BlackHeart crew was in Hawaii until after I sent it though, so waiting on a reply. Fingers crossed. Been too long since he's tattooed me!

@cibo their loss is your gain! @piccalilli that crushes. So awesome.

New Ed Hardy book is a must!
suburbanxcore replied to cfmartin67's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
I know I mentioned the incredible Devita show in a very recent post, but the Ed show at Kings Avenue a few years back was next level awesome. They had a lot of this stuff from his childhood and a million other cool pieces. A friend and I each got tattooed that day, and while he got the classic Hardy gorilla on him, I got to check out a ton of stuff. Trevor actually opened up some classic sketches, stencils, and old flash and let a few of us flip through it. I'm sure this book is more than representative of that and awesome. -
The Tattoo Age is obviously an incredible little doc, and getting to see one of the art shows he did at Kings Avenue a few years back was truly a pleasure. This was sad news to hear.

Lyric Tattoos - Are they ever a good idea?
suburbanxcore replied to tay943's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
I have multiple lyrics and song titles tattooed on me. I wouldn’t say I regret the ones that are a little longer and harder to read, but I think if I’d gotten them now, I’d do it differently. But in more recent years, I’ve opted for shorter two or three word phrases incorporated into an image and I’ve been happier with the outcome. I also don’t regret any of the song or lyric choices over the years. -
Been gone for a minute and haven't gotten tattooed since summer, but lookin at making a an appointment or two for the later winter/early spring. We'll see.

Full Back Piece Experience Thread
suburbanxcore replied to gougetheeyes's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
Everyone's stuff lately is killer, but very cool to see that backpiece @breakthischain. I've gotten tattooed at Kadillac MTA, but not by Eric. Very cool shop, and nice to see the Hatboro one just open too. -
@Mr_Spaghetti never a bad Grez eagle.
-
At least with Scott, he's fast as hell. I've been weighing the options for two of my favorite artists that I've had work on me a lot and it's tough. Scott - Heavier handed, but fast as hell. Grez - Very gentle, but very meticulous and much slower. I've been kicking it around for almost two years and keep doing other things because I can't decide how to approach the unfun nature of this...I got my chest done when I was about 22, so it's been a while. It definitely sucked, but over the time, the memory of it has dulled a bit. Not looking forward to stomach. and also, @wildcat, Bailey Moffatt recently posted an Instagram pic of her front (while walking her dog), and it is awesome.
-
Glad to see that those that went had a good time. It was nice to watch all the posts on IG from artists, friends, and the convention account. Good stuff, everyone. Bummed that I've missed the last two years after going the first two. Here's hoping for next year!
-
Also, Matt Adamson posted a freakin killer peony on July 24. He's at KA, but may have a bit less of a wait than some of the other people there.
-
Rose kills it. Always fun to watch the stuff she puts out up there. She's also insanely nice and puts up with so much crap from Grez with a smile. Haha.
